Beautiful, Spacious, Clean Home in Great Condition

  • 5 of 5

Between September 5th and 10th, 2018, my adult family and I (5 in total) had the great good fortune to stay at the lovely Haus Kammern in Bramberg am Wildkogel, Austria (10 min drive to Mittersill). We were in contact with hosts Avril and John as soon as our reservations were made, and they could not have been more helpful and kind, answering every question we had. They also suggested local markets, restaurants and activities available. After a 5 hour drive from Zurich, we arrived at Haus Kammern late in the evening, and were welcomed with a bottle of wine, local bread, milk, juice, teas, and sweets on our pillows. Their home is beautiful, spacious, impeccably clean and in great condition. Every amenity one could need was made available to us. Avril and John have maps and information related to just about everything within a 2-3 hour drive from the house for your perusal. As the next and new day dawned, we were able to see just how lovely the environs are in which the house is set. We immediately went out on the wooden deck to enjoy our breakfast, which faces the northern part of the Hohe Tauern National Park, with towering mountains in view in the lifting fog. Our intention in choosing Haus Hammern was to readily access the Hohe Tauern National Park and many of its gorgeous hiking trails. By car, it took us no more than 1/2 hour to arrive at the Goldried Gondola near Metrei in Osttirol to begin accession to our first hike/the Europa Panormaweg. Each evening, after hikes and other outdoor activities, we chose to sit on the beautiful deck enjoying the sunset on the valley. Due to only one day of inclement weather, we drove to Salzburg (2 hrs in pouring rain). While driving back towards Zurich, we drove through the Gerloz Pass (gorgeous) and to Innsbruck (2 hrs). The house comfortably sleeps 7; has 2 full bathrooms, making morning routines easy for 5 adults to ready themselves; dining area, and outdoor deck furniture, that both easily seat 6-8; has parking right on the property for 2 cars; and is set just below a farm, from which we were able to see cows munching in the pasture. We were delighted with our stay in Haus Kammern and would encourage everyone considering it to feel confident and comfortable in reserving it while it is available. While Haus Kammern is truly in a gorgeous and peaceful setting, you are in relative close proximity to neighbors, not isolated at all.

Superb Chalet

  • 5 of 5

We took my mother to Austria for her 80th Birthday and couldn't have stayed in a nicer chalet. Every detail was thought of and we wanted for nothing. The welcome pack, including a Birthday cake for mum, was such a nice touch and typical of the thoughtfulness of Avril and John.

A stunning property in a perfect location

  • 5 of 5

Our first family trip to Austria in August 2014 and we were not disappointed. The chalet itself is beautiful with plenty of space and it has a lovely welcoming homely feel. The views from the balcony are amazing!

The owners Avril and John really have thought of everything to make the chalet comfortable for their guests. They made the trip so easy with lots of information and great communication before we started our holiday.

The chalet was only two and half hours drive from Munich Airport and provided a great opportunity to take in the grandeur of the mountains on the way in to the stunning Austrian chalet. Haus Kammern is perfectly located to take advantage of the breath taking scenery that the region has to offer. There are so many local attractions which are a short drive away including the majestic Krimml Waterfalls, the Emerald Trail and access to ski lifts to the top of the mountains only 5 minutes drive away! The stunning lakeside town of Zell am See is only 30 minute away and a little further (just over 2 hours) is the historic and beautiful Salzburg - a must if you have seen the Sound of Music!! More locally (5 minutes walk) is Mulbach where there is a bakery and great place to get something to eat and drink called the Batzinger. There is also an outdoor swimming pool with a cafe and restaurant attached with the most picturesque backdrop of the mountains. The restaurants in Mittersil and Bramberg were reasonably priced with very good food with large portions!

We have fallen in love with Haus Kammern, the beautiful mountains and surrounding area and would love to return in the summer or winter to try the skiing here! Overall a really beautiful and convenient place to stay, we had a fantastic holiday and there was lots to do. Highly recommended! Thank you Avril and John!
