About e-mail - Emma de Souza (England), phone - Cristina Casian (Italy)
We live in Hertfordshire with our daughter. We bought The Yellow House in 2002 and have always loved Italy, buildings and restoration. Some Italian friends have a property near Bolsena and after visiting the area we were struck by how unspoilt and beautiful it was.
e-mail - Emma de Souza (England), phone - Cristina Casian (Italy) purchased this Villa in 2002
Why e-mail - Emma de Souza (England), phone - Cristina Casian (Italy) chose Civitella D'agliano
Initially we looked at properties near Bolsena but could not find anything with enough seclusion or land. We broadened our search and came across several possibilities, The Yellow House was our favourite. At the time the house was a ruin and we spent 2 years on the restoration. The project was great fun and we had lots of support from our project manager and now great friend, Kalle. Parts of The Yellow House were renovated again in 2010. The main change was the kitchen which has been extended to form a much larger kitchen dining area with modern professional kitchen (30ftx 12ft). A bocce court and garden were created in 2017 In 2018 an underground games room and larger sitting room were added, also the existing pizza oven was replaced with a larger, better insulated oven.

Lovely villa and setting
Excellent, comfortable and quiet. Lovely pool and outside area including garden.
Good situation near to local town and services.
Overall very happy and would willingly return
Only slightly hairy moments were driving up and down the drive especially if it has rained, as it is quite eroded.
Another great stay
This time we spent the month of September at the Yellow House. Again, it’s beautifully appointed and comfortable, especially for those who like to cook. The pizza oven was perfect this year. Both the inside and outside areas are enjoyable. We love to walk to the village everyday where the people are warm and friendly.
The Yellow House is in the most wonderful , peaceful holiday location, close to a small town and supermarket, with it’s own amazing pool , pizza oven and bbq , games room and lovely airy bedrooms. All you could wish for and more. Thank you for a wonderful 2 weeks :)
Thank you for your kind review, I am so glad you enjoyed your stay, we look forward to welcoming you again back to The Yellow House soon.
We had a great family holiday here for a week with three teenagers so the games room was well used as was the large pool. We had v hot weather but managed to keep the house cool by closing the shutters during the day. We ate outside in the evenings under the oak tree and even managed to get some pizza dough from the local shops and they were a great success in the pizza oven. Great place to come and relax.
Thank you for your kind review, so glad you enjoyed your stay at The Yellow House. We look forward to welcoming you back in the future.
My stay at The Yellow House, Viterbo, Lazio, Italy
Once again a fantastic holiday at The Yellow House, the house is so well located that visits to places of interests can be easily made in all directions.
This holiday we packed in at lease one outing a day starting on the Sunday (our first full day) we all walked to the local Church in the village of Civitella d' Agliano then after Mass a refreshing cold drink at the Town square Bar followed by a ice cream, then a stroll around the back streets of this beautiful medieval village and a slow walk back home and into the pool and a home made pizza cooked in the pizza oven
On Monday, we visited a town called Todi again a beautiful medieval Town with quaint little shop and cobbled streets.
On Tuesday, we visited the Market town of Bolsena and a swim in the fresh water lake.
On Wednesday we visited the town of Viterbo again a beautiful medieval Town with quaint little shop and cobbled streets. with lots of Bars and Restaurants.
On Thursday we visited the hill top town of Civitella del Largo, (If you don't go anywhere you must visit here it's absolutely fabulous), with the village views at 1400 ft high over looking the Italian county side.
On Friday we visited the local village of San Mechele
All above location are within half hour to an hour drives from The Yellow House so plenty of free time to enjoy the Pool and other amenities that it offers.
If you won't to see Italy at its best then you need to visit The Yellow House. I have already booked for 2020.
The Yellow House
The Yellow House was a beautiful Italian Villa, in a beautiful location. The views were lovely, the house is large and spacious and well laid out. The pool tables, football table and table tennis are a great addition and as the weather was changeable while we were there used a lot. The local village is about a 15 minute walk, there is a great pizza take away there and some nice coffee and gelato but not much else. We also saw hundreds of baby frogs walking to the village much to our childrens delight. Is a great villa in a lovely location, the pool is rather brisk though!
The villa is situated in the heart of wine-making countryside, it is the perfect place to relax and because of its unique location can be used as a base to explore Umbria, Tuscany and Lazio. The House is situated 15 minutes walk from the quiet, medieval village Civitella d’Agliano, in which there are several shops, a petrol station, a Banca di Roma and Post Office. Even nearer home is our local restaurant and a small supermarket. There are several other good restaurants in the area including at the beautiful Hotel La Tana dell’Istrice (the porcupine’s lair), where one can also taste wine from the impressive wine cellars. There is a pizzeria and several small bars. There are facilities for playing tennis, horse-riding, fishing, walking and cycling, information can be found in the Town Hall (Comune). Bagnoregio is the nearest large town and is 15 minutes by car. Orvieto is 40 minutes drive away as is Lake Bolsena, see link to our website for further information.
Other Activities at The Yellow House: wine tasting, cooking demonstrations, table tennis, table football, pool, badminton, bocce, and clay modeling with clay from the stream
