15 years ago I visited Dalyan and fell in love with the outstanding natural beauty of the area and warmth of the local people.
I am a retired head teacher of special needs children with conduct disorders. I now own three villas and a ski chalet that I mange to let out and advise people on holidays and property purchase in Turkey ( I was A Place in the Suns Exhibition panel adviser for 4 years ) I now travel extensively and am a keen cyclist and skier. I also played rugby at a high level and embarrassed to say I am a qualified interior designer! Doesn't go with my image!

Wonderful villa in wonderful location

My whole family stayed in the Dalyan Dream for a week - 8 adults and 5 kids aged between 1 and 4. The villa was perfect for us. A shallow end of the pool for the kids, plenty of space inside for them to play. The villa was nice and clean and Charles was really helpful from the very beginning when we were looking to book. Even once we arrived he came by on the first and last day and was on hand to give tips on where to go. There's a small shop with essentials about a few minutes walk away. But the nearest supermarket is also 10 mins away. The main square is just 5 mins from there. On a few occasions we asked the public bus driver to pick us up from the villa and they only charged 10 lira. Rather than us taking 3 cabs for 10 lira each. Everything was great from the transfer to the villa from the airport to the very last moment!

DalyanDream villa exceeded my expectation and we all found it very comfortable. Its in a quiet area, which was just perfect. There's a bakery and a corner shop extremely close by and getting on the bikes the villa provides to do the breakfast shopping felt so wondrous. Theres a Turkish Bath literally around the corner, which was perfect. The villa pool is definitely a good size and the depth is good. Just be careful in the shallow end where the stairs are. Corners are a bit sharp! We found some floats/inflatables in the storage area, so don't take any with you, theres plenty. We had everything (and more than) we needed in the villa and any help we needed was a call away, no matter what time. The top room was however, very warm, especially the bathroom. Felt a bit like like a sauna now and again, but that's nothing to complain about. The pool is right at the front of the house, so passer bys can see you. The balconies sit over the pool and you can see the other villas and the mountains. What a great view. The Rep who looked after us on holiday, Dumus, did his job well. He met our needs and was more than understanding over any concerns we had. Charles, the owner of the villa was more than helpful with all the questions I had. All in all, the Villa, the people and the whole holiday was FAB! Highly recommend this villa, and Charles.
The property is fabulous, plenty of room, great bedrooms with lots of storage space and a wonderful pool and barbecue with a covered area. The villa is very well equipped. It's about a 15 min stroll into town with lots of lovely restaurants and the locals are very friendly. We would recommend completely.
The villa is comfortable and well appointed with a spacious modern feel to it. Villa has a large comfortable living area and all bedrooms are a good size, each with a en suite. Used the balconies around the villa as a lovely way to relax with cocktails on an evening and watch the sunset with the beautiful view of the surrounding mountains. The outdoor area is great for sun bathing and the pool is a really good size, also has a heated Jacuzzi. We ate in some nights and the kitchen was well equipped with appliances and there is also a outside BBQ which we really enjoyed using. Villas within walking distance into town or there's the local mini buses which you can hop on and its a 2 minute journey and they'll drop you off any where along the road to the turtle round-about in the center, or just next it being its final destination. Beautiful villa, felt really comfortable and relaxed staying there and cant wait to go back in April.
Dalyan is best known as the home breeding grounds for the giant loggerhead turtle, the winding river and a beach which is not just a natural wonder but also won The Times Best Open Space Award in 2008 and is one of the few natural breeding grounds of the beautiful Carreta Carreta sea turtle which can be seen. Over 6km of golden sands with access by bus, car and boat there are cafeterias at either end for refreshments but plenty of empty space among the dunes to escape to.
The main street is pedestrianized on an evening making it very safe.
The beach is a short Dolmus or boat ride away. Also Lake Koycegiz has mud baths and thermal springs for a fun excursion.
There is an amazing range of habitats in the local area; from the reed beds north of the town to the Koycegiz Lake. With many species of birds, from White Tailed Eagles to Red-rumped swallows, expert birders and amateurs would struggle not to have a great birding holiday. Guided walking tours in all areas can be organised. Wedding and birthday accommodation for large groups throughout the year can be organised using my three villas Dalyanjewel (sleeps 16), Dalyandream (slees 12) and dalyandiamond (sleeps14)
Walking and cycling groups are aware of the amazing possibilities available to ramblers and cyclists in and around Dalyan, Turkey. There are a number of great walks to be done in the local area; from the walk up to Candir and Kaunos over stunning mountains and rock tombs, to the Liquid Amber Forests of Dalyan. The Famous Lycian Way walk of 300+km across the southern coast of Turkey, is a trekking holiday for the hardcore (especially in the summer).
How to get there
The nearest airport is Dalaman which is a 25 minutes drive away. Once in Dalyan car hire is not essential as we are so close to everything you could need. The town itself is quite small and everything is within easy walking distance.
Everything is within walking or cycling distance in Dalyan. This apartments are easy walk to restaurants, bars and cafes and the riverboats that you take to the beach or the ruins of Kaunos with its amphitheatre and ancient Lycian rock tombs, the mud baths, sea fishing and so on. Fethiye and Olu Deniz are 50 minutes drive away. Marmaris is about 75 minutes drive, both of which have ferries to Rhodes.
There are many activities available such as trekking through the mountains, cycling and jeep safaris; sunrise or moon light boat cruises for fishing or turtle watching, tours to various islands or just along the coast. Sailing, sea kayaking & white water rafting and diving & snorkelling in clear waters through caves and an abundance of marine life. Horse riding is also available.
Dalyan town itself is compact stretching only a mile in any direction from the centre and is framed by a glorious backdrop of pine clad mountains in every direction. The flatness of town makes it a perfect place for walking with children or the elderly and it is a delight to cycle around. For more active holidaymakers there are forests and hiking hills all within walking distance. Dalyan is also distinguished by the lack of package tourists though there are still plenty of bars and restaurants to cater for all tastes. There is a market on Saturday’s selling local produce, clothing and tourist items.
The town has a bank, ATMs a post office a number of well stocked supermarkets centred around the town square. Also the Dolmus (bus) area for trips to surrounding attractions and only 50m or so to the riverside to sit by boats or you can take a relaxing walk along the the river or cross the river to Kanos tombs and amphitheatre. The boats can take you to the beach or on moonlight cruises to the lake, crab fishing and turtle feeding. For the more adventurous there are walking tours, scuba diving and microlight flights. There are also hot springs and mud baths at the nearby Koycegiz lake.
