for three years, we have rent this charming and wondeful flat. this year, we spent four weeks and it is always pleasant. This quiet flat is a venetian jewel inside a marvellous quarter. the view is so great on the altana Sebastiano is an perfect host. What's else?
Thank you to you and we see us next year.
This was our second visit to this apartment and our six nights there were even better than last year. Sebastiano was the perfect host, meeting us at S. Toma and then carrying our heavy cases up the 77 steps! We did warn him that being in our late 60's we would need help, but he wasn't daunted. The apartment is clean, well equipped and well designed, making good use of the limited headroom, it being up in the rafters. The views from the altana are stunning and we were fortunate enough to be able to breakfast up there most mornings and have drinks before supper. Sometimes the only sound was a blackbird or the many church's bells . We would definitely recommend it to family and friends who are able bodied and want to be away from the mainstream tourist routes.
Very helpful owners gave us detailed instructions so we found our way from the airport without a problem. Our host met us at the water us stop and walked us through a labyrinth of little streets, as first timers this was a great help. As we entered the little courtyard I wondered what the apartment would look like because the courtyard was plain and functional. Be prepared for stairs as it's the top flat but the climb is worth it. The apart,net has stunning views and a fabulous roof terrace. You look down on the red tiled roofs and have church bell towers all around. The flat has double glazing and we enjoyed the bells but we're not deafened by them. Spacious and well provisioned , you have all you need. We never found a kettle but managed by boiling water in a pan, no worries. It was a little chilly in the evenings as we visited in April but the flat was warm and cosy, the heating was easy to use and there was always plentiful hot water. Our host gave us several top tips for nearby places to eat, there are some great ones a stones throw away. Perfect location for getting to everywhere. I as surprised at how easy Venice was to get round on foot and the water buses were always a sight seeing trip in themselves. As I mentioned you have a water bus taxi a few minutes away from the flat but it's easy walking to the main sights like the Rialto bridge etc. Venitians like to go out for a drink early and have their equivalent of tapas as a first course before going on to a restaurant or home for the main meal. The are around the Rialto bridge, as you walk from the flat is peppered with cool bars who specialise in this tapas etc. Nice way to spend an evening. We were told by our hosts that it's a safe city and we found that we got that vibe. Despite the fact that we were two more tourists in a city full of them the locals were really friendly and welcoming. Venice is a stunning , miraculous place and this was the perfect base. Excellent value for money.
as usual, we spent wonderful holidays in this nice , quiet flat well located
these three weeks, despite the crowd, were marvellous;
l'appartement bien agencé permet un séjour agréable et la terrasse nous offre une vue magnifique.Rien ne manque.
Merci Sebastiano pour votre disponibilité. On se revoit l'année prochaine

Sebastiano met us as planned and the directions were good. The apartment s is exactly as described and ideally located in the heart of Venice, within walking distance of the sights, yet in a quiet area. The apartment was spacious and had everything we needed for a short break to Venice. We stayed with our teenage daughter who loved the mezzanine level bedroom. The roof terrace was a great place to have breakfast or a chilled glass of wine and just watch the boats and people down below.
Would recommend and stay again
We arrived here at the start of our trip so adjusting to the heat and all the travel and then the 7 flights of stairs with luggage was a bit hairy but we loved this apartment so many windows so that late afternoon when you open them all there is a great breeze, loved the rooftop terrace but you really would not want to be over 6ft as all of us at one time lashed our heads off the upstairs beams, only fault that I could find was the the duvets were a bit stained but i only used the sheets which were spotless, tip for Venice restaurants even though they advertise cheap food check the drinks price as well we went to a gorgeous little restaurant which had really cheap and fresh food but we had water, 2 cokes and 3 beers and the drinks came to €35 total bill came to 81 for 4 but without drinks 46
The San Polo sestiere has its origins around its main square “ Campo San Polo” the largest of the city, second only to Saint mark’ s square. a fairly small district with lots of secretive lanes, some interesting sights including the Rialto Bridge, and shopping ranging from glove shops to the famous Rialto fruit, vegetable and fish marketplace. It's atmospheric and contains some useful addresses for shopping and for eating. Campo San Polo, the area's hub, is a large open space in Venice; a wide, irregular, dusty sort of square where local children and pet dogs run and play while adults chat. In the summer there's an open-air cinema here.
