Great hospitality!

  • 5 of 5

We truly loved our stay in this quaint Lansing home! Dayna and Jack greeted us the day we arrived and ensured all our needs were met. Although we didn't want for anything, they are right across the street had we experienced any issues that required attention.

Dayna was very accommodating with flexibility for check in and check out time. In all my experience on vrbo / home away, I don't think I've encountered a property owner who was quite as accommodating as she.

The house is clean and quiet. Although AC is available, we didn't use it and instead slept with the windows open and enjoyed the sounds of the gentle flow of water in the small waterway outside the front door.

Although there was no fenced yard for our dogs, the house is a 5 minute walk from the Creeper Trail Park, which has a great fenced dog area. Our dogs loved the park, as did our whole family. We even got to watch some anglers catching trout in the river that runs through the park!

In addition to its proximity to the park, the house is a short walk from 2 restaurants and a small grocery store. 15 minutes drive away is West Jefferson, with a Wal-Mart, multiple grocery and drug stores, as well as a quaint downtown area.

We enjoyed a day at Grayson Highlands State Park in Virginia. A short (25 minute) drive took us to lovely hiking trails with unrivaled views. We were excited to see some wild horses while we were there, as well.

Although we didn't bike the Creeper Trail, it's a close drive to this house, as well. This would be a great place to stay for a Creeper Trail excursion.

Owner's Response: The Mobley family were such a nice family to accommodate. Being our first renters of the season, we still had some issues with an electrician and just having the house ready, but they were so understanding, which we appreciate. Hope to see them again and most of all, thanks for the nice comments.

We loved this house, and Dayna was very nice and helpful. She even gave us some fresh corn from her garden. Hopefully we can return sometime.

Great Vacation!

  • 5 of 5

We celebrated our 52nd wedding anniversary this past week (21 - 28 Jul) and had a wonderful time. The side trips to West Jefferson, Boone, Shatley Springs, and just "riding around" in the mountains of western NC was so beautiful. The house was perfect in every way. The house had all the amenities that we needed to make our stay so memorable. Mr. and Mrs. Brown went out of their way to ensure we had an exceptional visit. Wonderful people! We brought our 8 lb. wonder dog Emma with us and took her for a walk every day in the beautiful big park at the end of the street. It had very nice grounds that had her complete attention on every walk. The walking trails had a tar surface for bikes, walking, wheelchairs, etc. The trout stream ran right through the park and made it very enjoyable to spend hours just walking around taking in all that clean mountain air. The fiddlers convention in Jefferson was a two day event which is a big attraction each year for young and old alike. We are definitely looking forward to making a return visit in the future. Maybe two weeks next time to take in some mountain music festivals!

We appreciated the hospitality and mountain beauty.

A very friendly town with a couple of decent restaurants within walking distance and a great park with a mountain stream. Dayna was so easy to deal with and the house was very clean with many unexpected items in stock. If in doubt, choose this one.
