Private waterfront home, sleeps 8, 310 feet of lake front, stunning views, dock
About Linda Crerar
Wonderfully Private Retreat...This waterfront home was originally a summer camp on Point Comfort at the end of the Pilot Knob Road. The home was rebuilt over 60 years ago to expand the living area and make it into a year round residence which accommodates up to 8 guests comfortably. At that time the camp was named "Dawn O'Day" because of its great sunrises over Buck Mountain but it also has STUNNING sunsets and we have kept her name and charm in tact over the years. We love the Lake and Dawn O'Day and work very hard to keep her charm and comfort for all of our guests so they can enjoy a true "Adirondack Experience". Our guests agree "We had a fantastic week! The Lake is beautiful, very relaxing and Dawn O'Day feels like home. Our whole family enjoys being here and looks forward to visiting year after year.
Why Linda Crerar chose Kattskill Bay
Dawn O'Day is in a private members only residential area called "Camp Andrews" which borders thousands of acres of "forever wild" Adirondack Forest Preserve. The home sits amongst the woodlands and is wonderfully private. The home is perfect for individuals or families who like privacy while enjoying breathtaking views of the lake and surrounding mountains - all only steps away. Dawn O'Day has over 310 feet of lake front on an acre of woodland on the quite east shore of Lake George. A variety of water sports takes place on the lake including canoeing, rowboats, sailing and boating. You will always have a tory to tell about your visit to Dawn O'Day. You will have a special memory, a favorite place, something that makes you come back to the Lake as often as you can. We live all the way across country in the Pacific NW in Washington State near Mt. Rainier in the magnificent Cascade Mountains but we are drawn like migrating birds year after year back to our "Dawn O'Day". We hope you to will "discover a rare property that embraces the surrounding beauty of the lake and woodlands. It is truly a special private, striking views and old style Adirondack charm." Rick and Linda
What makes this House unique
Old Style Adirondack Charm - Full sun can be enjoyed from the boathouse sundeck and dock. There is room for one large boat undercover and plenty of room for canoes and kayaks on the dock. The lake bottom off the property is beautiful white sand, water is crystal clear and no lake weeds. Great swimming and diving from the dock and perfect place for waterskiing. Just off the shore of Point Comfort there is great fishing and sailing or you can just sit in screened porch, dock and yard and watch the "Lac Du Saint Sacrament" steamboat cruise by as it offers visitors a tour of the lake and the Captain points out "Pilot Knob" which sits just behind Dawn O'Day in the mountains and was used for decades by steamboat captains to navigate the Lake. Buck Mountain, also just above the house in the Park, is a wonderful hike and offers panoramic views of the Lake and access to many other trails. Within a 15 mile radius there are over 15 public gold courses and Vermont is just 30 minute drive away. Lake George Village is just 15 minutes from the house and offers visitors interesting and fun things to do. You can rent a boat, ride a parasail, take a steamboat cruise or enjoy "The Great Escape" a world class theme park. Lake George is only an hours drive from the Albany the state capital and has an international airport and interstate highway access from Canada. "Rick and Linda, we had a great time at your very special cabin what an experience! Did the Sagamore, the Village, Bolton, Vermont, etc. Just fabulous - love your location on the water. Each day we took a boat ride in our friend, John's special Chris Craft wood boat. Truly the vacation of a lifetime! " Thanks Carmel, Mike, John and Rose

Great place to relax!
Dawn O Day was an awesome place to stay! We all had a great time. The boat dock & sun deck was a great place to hangout & enjoy the view of the lake. Can’t wait to stay again!
Daniel we look forward to your return to Dawn O'Day. So many people who have stayed with us comment on what a wonderful retreat it is and there is something for everyone to do and people take home fantastic memories and that everywhere you look its just "absolutely beautiful".
Great view but...
This house has an amazing view of the lake and a great dock. However there are a few things we were very disappointed with. Only duraflame logs can be used in the fire pit outside and the inside fireplace has an electric insert with the wattage of a night light. The house was tidy but dusty and lots of cobwebs. Also while we were there, we lost power several times which appears to be a common occurrence based on the number of flashlights around the house.
Our property manager talked with our Guests during the 4 hour power outage who seemed not to understand that the outage was due to a weather event that took out power throughout the region and was not anything she could do about restoring power. She provided our Guests will all the information they needed to stay comfortable until the power returned. Power was restored in 4 hours.
We work in emergency management and are Red Cross volunteers so we always prepare our homes for events such as a power outage that is why we have flashlights and other supplies and instructions in our Guest Guide.
Also we are a self-catering property and do not charge a housekeeping fee so we depend on our guests to keep the home neat and clean. We do not provide daily cleaning service.
Our guests who stayed at Dawn O'Day earlier in October left this message for us about their experience at our property.
"Incredible lakeside property. The house had everything we needed and more. We are used to having to remember everything from toilet tissue to dish detergent on a rental home. This owner thought of everything. Very generous and well stocked home. Even has salt and pepper, which we never remember! Overall wonderful experience. If you need granite and stainless, this isn't for you, but if you want to feel embraced by a real lake home in a fabulous location, this is it."
Lake George at its finest!
What a wonderful retreat! Everything you need to enjoy your stay is there - just don't forget the towels! There's something for everyone to enjoy. From a quiet sitting area to read to all the excitement of outdoor and lake activities, Dawn O'Day was an absolute pleasure. I would hope to bring grandkids one day to experience Lake George at its finest.
Thank you for the wonderful review and we do hope that you will be able to join us again with your grand kids. As you know we do supply most everything our guests need including all of the bedding, linens, cleaning supplies, paper products and cooking oils and spices. We do ask our Guests to bring their own toiletries and bath and beach towels. Fortunately there are lots of options for getting towels. Happy New Year 2019. Linda
Cozy camp cabin, ideal for a close family or small group of friends who don't mind sharing one small bathroom. We're used to tent camping, and love Lake George, so this was perfect for us to come with our boat. The home kitchen is well stocked and perfect for those who like to cook and eat in. There's also a gas grill and outdoor picnic table for your summer barbeques. We look forward to our next visit!
It was a very nice Memorial Day weekend for your family and great that you were able to include grandparents with you for your stay at Dawn O'Day. We are certainly glad to now offer our guests the use of the newly installed flush toilet and sink area in the lower level laundry room where the family room and bedroom are located which leads out directly to the lake. This new bathroom area compliments the full bath upstairs providing facilities for guests on each level of the home. Looking forward to your stay at the end of summer over the Labor Day weekend. Thank you for taking such good care of Dawn O'Day while your were there. Linda

Absolutely gorgeous location with panoramic lake views
Incredible lakeside property. We swam and sunned on the boathouse. The house had everything we needed and more. Eileen thank you for your gracious comments. As you know from our information about Dawn O'Day it was originally a "summer camp" which was rebuilt over 40 years ago into a year round residence. It is "old style Adirondack" and we have maintained the home and property to allow people to experience what having a lake vacation met in a quieter and less rushed time in our history. One of our long time summer guests just sent us this message, " Thank you once again for sharing Dawn O' Day with us. Our visit this year was both poignant and healing. I didn't realize how much I needed to be away and be up there until I was. The calmness of the lake and all the beautiful scenery was so healing to me." We are so glad you to experienced the wonderful rejuvenation of being a bit back in time." Thank you, Linda and Rick

Poem written by long time guests:
BY THE LAKE
By the Lake at Dawn O'Day
We frolic, swim, boat and play
The cozy cottage by the shore
It makes us love the Lake much more
Lake George memories flow like gushers
For we first me here down at Ushers
Family and friends have joined us here
And they hold memories just as dear
Thanks for letting us share this treasure
The joy for us is hard to measure
Our time has passed and now is through
We leave this Friendly thought for you
By the Lake we Forget to count the days...
