Photos and Description of this 1 bedroom holiday apartment in Sierra Nevada Area - Luxury Apartment with views

GREAT DEALS FOR COUPLES AND FAMILIES!! Large luxury apartment recently refurbished with stunning views and balconies. No extra charges per person. One price only. Sleeps 2/4 people comfortably. Ideal for Granada and Sierra Nevada. Enquire about our discounted rates for longer stays. Our calander is up to date, so you can book and pay online in the confidence that the property is available.

**Endorsed by the Andalucian Tourist Board ** Feedback from our guests gives us a 5 star rating. With breathtaking views of the Sierra Nevada mountains this stunning apartment is a home away from home throughout the whole year. The historic city of Granada is less than 20 minutes away. The secluded beaches are only 45 mins away.

The price includes central heating, air-con, TV (with some UK & European Channels), community WiFi and supply of MiFi unit (top up at guests discretion), secure parking, high standard of furnishings & equipment. There will be a complimentary local wine and tapas to welcome you on arrival. Our keyholders have been congratulated for their excellent customer service many times!

This is something we are very happy with as we believe that our guests not only deserve luxury accommodation but also great customer service and attention to detail.

From the living room and bedroom there is wonderful mountain scenery that you can also enjoy from the large balconies. The apartment is 20 mins from Granada/Alhambra Palace a world UNESCO site, and about 25 mins from ski resort. Güejar Sierra, with its cobbled streets and flower draped balconies is something of an undiscovered gem - a well kept Spanish secret. This is where the sophisticated Granadinos and those 'in the know' come to enjoy the best of all that the Sierra Nevada can offer. The village has great tapas bars, restaurants, two lovely pools in summer. We are happy to help organise chef services, tapas tours, hiking, biking, horse-riding, canoeing, treasure hunts for children.

Bookable local activities: We can arrange local walks, mountain hikes, kayaking, climbing and mountain biking with qualified local guides. Also horse-riding, massage therapy and cultural or culinary tours of Granada.

The balcony from the living room has a table and chairs so that you can enjoy the views with some wine after a day site seeing or just relaxing. Because travelling is never easy with young ones there is a baby/toddler pack available at the apartment to help take the stress out of travelling. This includes travel cot, toys/books, high chair seat adaptor. Please enquire at time of booking. There are many new play parks in the village that are fantastic for young ones. Children are made very welcome in the village.

Sierra Nevada ski resort: The apartment is ideally placed for skiing at Pradollano in the Sierra Nevada. The Sierra Nevada boasts some of the highest downhill runs in Europe as well as being the most southerly - so it often enjoys better snow than the Alps. The resort - with its superb services and installations was built for the World Ski Championships and has been selected for the 2015 Winter Universiade, the World University Games, and offers its visitors a wide range of facilities and a ski terrain to suit skiers & boarders of all standards. There are 100 km of ski runs, 117 pistes and nearly 400 snow machines guaranteeing snow on the slopes. There is also night skiing by floodlight! As one of Europe's highest resorts it has a surprisingly long season and traditionally opens at the end of November running through to the end of April or even into the first week of May. The resort is so far south that the climate is superb for brushing up on your tan and on clear days there are views of Africa from the top! You can now hire skis in the village and the shop also runs a transport service for those who do not wish to drive the 25 minutes to the ski resort.

About Anita

I have travelled extensively both for work and for pleasure and fell in love with Güejar Sierra the moment I saw it. I first had an apartment in Puerto Banus some 15 years ago and subsequently I have owned and refurbished many properties over the last 10 years in the Granada area. Having lived in Granada (and worked in Madrid and Barcelona) for many years I have the 'on the spot' local knowledge that can point you in the right direction to make the most of your time here. I also know numerous other parts of Spain that you may wish to visit during your time here. I bought this apartment as a perfect getaway location in the sun and it has proved to be a true gem.

I consider Guejar Sierra my second home and love visiting as much as possible to enjoy the stunning scenery and delicious local food. I now live and work in Ireland and enjoy renting my apartment to people who I know will love the village and area as much as I do.

Anita purchased this apartment in 2005

Why Anita chose Sierra Nevada Area

This luxury apartment is ideally located in the beautiful mountain village of Güejar Sierra - just outside the world famous Moorish city of Granada. Recently decorated and updated. As I have travelled extensively I have furnished the apartment with unique items of furniture and decorations not only from Granada and other parts of Spain but also from different countries. All of which gives an wonderful welcoming environment to base yourself in Andalusia. Güejar Sierra is a small mountain town or large village, preserving the traditional mountain architecture of the region at its heart. It is skirted by the crystal clear waters of the River Genil and perched in a dramatic position on the slopes of the Cerro del Calar - with panoramic views of the rugged Sierra Nevada mountains just at the point where they dip their toes into the beautiful Canales reservoir. The surroundings offer the visitor great natural beauty, chestnut forests, old quarries of serpentine and green jasper and the historic remains of the old funicular (built by an eccentric Italian Duke) which used to wind its way up the Sierra Nevada. Two of the attractive old stone tram stops in Maitena and El Charcon have been converted to lovely restaurants on the banks of the Genil, where the fresh, clean waters are delicious for a swim in the summer.

Güejar Sierra is also a great centre for year-round adventure activities. It’s an ideal base for mountain biking, walks of all levels, ice/rock climbing, canoeing, rafting, paragliding, horse-riding etc. And, at only 20 mins from historic Granada and the Alhambra Palace.

It is as lovely place to be whether the season; in the winter surrounded by snow capped mountains, in the spring with the cherry blossom in bloom, in the summer the endless blue skies and in the autumn, the colours of the trees.

What makes this apartment unique

The apartment is beautifully furnished and very COMPETITVELY priced. There will be a complimentary local wine, or beer, and tapas to welcome you on arrival. Our keyholder will give you a briefing on all the hidden treats that the area has to offer - LOCAL INSITE that will help yo enjoy your stay in Guejar Sierra to the fullest! We pride ourselves on our great customer service and have a fully up to date and comprehensive guest information book which details bars/restaurants/fiesta/bus timetables/things to do and see both in Guejar but also in Granada. Imagine sitting on the balcony of this large comfortable apartment and enjoying the spectacular views of the snow capped mountains with a glass of wine. Paradise!

Dear Anita

Thank you so much for the most enjoyable stay in Guejar Sierra. The apartment is in a great location and very well presented clean and comfortable. Everything is as described. I have only praise for it. I was lucky with the sunny weather for the whole of my 2 week stay..

I did not hire a car( to get a rest from driving and to enjoy the scenery) I relied a lot on public transport to Granada and the airport. All went well. Lovely place and Rosie the key holder was very welcoming and helpful.

I would recommend this apartment to anyone who wants to stay away from the hustle and bustle of Granada yet stay in a modern well equipped apartment in a village in the middle of the mountains. I enjoyed walks in around the village and the many restaurants and Cafe. All very individual and welcoming.

Thank you again..

What a find!

  • 4 of 5

What a find! We really enjoyed our stay in this lovely, little village and would thoroughly recommend both the apartment and the location.

Although the village has plenty to offer, we took the bus to Granada 3 times. The public transport is spot on, and you could be in Granada in just over half an hour. It's a lovely place to wander about, and soak up the atmosphere.

The host Rosie was informative and friendly and the apartment was clean, spacious and comfortable.

The only negative was the patio door from the living room. It had come away from its tracking and was difficult to open and close. This is the only reason I have not given 5 stars.

Owner's Response: Hi Thank you for your lovely review! We are aware of the door not sliding correctly and have requested the repair. Unfortunately we are waiting a small piece for it - not much bigger than the size of a pea.Shame about knocking a star off the rating. But glad you enjoyed your stay. We hope to see you again. We offer a returning discount. Regards Anita

The apartment was just as described, clean and tidy. The lovely Rosie who met us w as very helpful. I would stay again and definitely recommend it. We came to explore the whole area but the town itself was magical and had plenty to offer for our 5 day stay.

Comfortable apartment in a nice mountain village

  • 4 of 5

We stayed at the apartment for 5 days. It is located in an apartment building overlooking the village. It was clean, comfortable, well equipped, with good views of the village and mountains. The location was convenient for visiting Granada and especially the Alhambra. Rosie was kind enough to wait for us on arrival even though we were delayed due to an incident on the road up from the tropical coast.

The last 10 km of the road from Granada to Guejar Sierra has a lot of twists and turns but this is to be expected when climbing to a mountain village, and the views are beautiful.

The village itself is quite pleasant. It is more suited to walking than driving given the very narrow streets and the difficulty of finding a place to park. However, the apartment is only a 5 minutes walk away from the centre of the village so this is not a problem unless someone has difficulty walking up and down fairly steep streets. Restaurants in the village are fairly good but not at the same level as one could find in Granada or Sevilla.

The Mifi worked well, although we were unable to find out about bandwidth usage, so we waited until it stopped working then purchased another 10 Euros worth at a local shop. Over all, we had a pleasant stay.

Guejar Sierra is a traditional white mountain village with cobbled streets in a stunning location less than 20 min. east of historic Granada (Alhambra Palace) and 25 min. from the Sierra Nevada ski resort (Pradollano). Beautiful views abound everywhere & many local restaurants traditionally open up swimming pools in the summer or lakeside/riverside dining terraces overlooking the Rio Genil or the blue waters of the Canales Reservoir. Great family activity location, walks begin from the doorstep and there are also opportunities for mountain-biking, horse-riding, climbing, canoeing, paragliding. This is also a great base from which to explore historic Granada, with its beautiful Moorish buildings, Alhambra Palace & fascinating Moroccan bazaar. Costa Tropical Beaches - 45 min. Guadix caves - 35 min. Water Park - 15 min. Also great romantic getaway for couples with excellent restaurants, or just a place to relax, enjoy the welcoming Spanish atmosphere & while the day away with free tapas.

Other Activities: Sierra Nevada Ski Resort - 25 min., Alhambra Palace, a UNESCO World Heritage Site - less than 20 mins, Family Water Park at Cenes - 15 min.

Golf: There are now three golf courses in Granada and more within reasonable driving distance such as the one at Motril on the Costa Tropical (9 holes). The 18 hole Granada Club de Golf is signposted from Armilla. No reservations necessary. Clubs can be hired and if you play in the morning, the cost for 18 holes is approximately 20 Euro (more on Sundays and festivals).

Ski: Skiing is available at the Sierra Nevada ski resort. At over 9,000 ft it is one of the highest resorts in Europe and can be reached from Guejar Sierra within 25 min. An international ski school is available on site. There are 70km of ski runs, 45 pistes (with more than enough variety to suit all levels), 300 snow machines and views of Africa from the top.

This is the most southerly ski resort in Europe and, while smaller than some of the other major European resorts, the facilities are considered top rate and it has therefore hosted numerous national and international ski events. With great family facilities on offer as well, Sierra Nevada defies many concepts associated with skiing. Located close to the Mediterranean coast, it has practically guaranteed sunshine, the best spring snow conditions in Europe and is still reasonably priced compared to many of its European counterparts. It is possible to ski in the morning and enjoy lunch at the beach in the sunshine.

For those looking for an active holiday, please ask for details of local mountain bike hire or walking guides. Kayaks can also be hired on the lake in season. A Tapas Tour of Granada with with Gayle Mackie (author of '100 Best Tapas Bars in Granada') can also be arranged - a great way to start your holiday by discovering the best places to enjoy a pleasant drink in a great atmosphere & eat for free like the locals do. For winter sports enthusiasts we can provide details of ski instructors & ski hire, etc., in the resort and pre-book ski passes. Our personable & friendly local chef is available on request.
