Big Bear also has a horseback riding stable with private rentals or guided tours. NEW! Big Bear's Snow Summit Ski Hill is now offering for the summer a 'Ride and Dine.' The chairlift takes you to the top of the mountain to the chalet where you can enjoy a delicious lunch and then brings you down again while you enjoy the view of the entire lake and north shore. You bicycle riders, the Summit chair lift, during summer months has racks on the chairlift for your bike. Ride to the top and enjoy riding the trails around the top and back down the mountain. NEW! Big Bear also has a scenic zip line up and running for the brave. And don't forget the ALPINE WATER SLIDE for kids of all ages.
This is a lovely cabin perfect for a family getaway. The location is perfect and quiet and it's close to the town and the lake. The cabin itself has just about everything you need. Carolyn & Wallace were easy to get a hold of for questions, and they had nice homey touches for us. The large snow-covered backyard was perfect for a three-team snowball fight. Having three levels in the cabin was also nice for the kids to be downstairs and the adults could be upstairs. Only one warning if you go to Big Bear and there's snow on the ground, do not park on ANY city streets whether there's a sign or not the entire street in the village full of cars all got tickets me included $150.
We stayed here the weekend of Jan 6th, and there was lots of snow in the BIG back yard to play in! I've rented a few times cabin/homes in Big Bear, and I have to say, that the pictures truly represent the home. Compared to other cabins/home in the same area, the price is great for what you get! It is a very lovely home. Although the bathrooms were on the small side, it is a major plus to have 3 bathrooms...For the price of cleaning, I did expect a little bit more...there were cobwebs in main bathroom, and the bedroom (where the pool table is) had a "damp smell" to it...Nothing a plug-in freshener couldn't fix. All in all, I would recommend this place!
Moonridge is a really convenient location.
Our grandkids had a great time playing wii and games and jigsaw puzzles all provided by the house.
Tri Level Layout with the main living area on the second floor worked out well for our extended family. There was room for all to sit around the dining room table and to hang out in the family room in front of the fireplace. Liked that there was a bathroom on each floor. Water was nice and hot too. Decor is really rustic mountain cabin which we loved. Kids loved playing in the snow in the back yard. The owners were super quick to respond when we had a problem. The only slight drawback was the angle of the driveway which was super steep downhill. It would not stop me from renting here again unless there was really heavy snow as you would have to back in.
We arrived to be greeted by a well located, and traditional Sierra-Nevada Mountain "A" Frame cottage/home...When you walk in, the wall of windows, the morning sun, and stellar view all provide a stunning entrance. You then look around to the classic and rustic mountain decor, construction and detail...really a nice place. My kids were stoked with all the auxiliary things to do, ie. the billiards table, Wii gaming set, sleds, and backyard to play in...Wallace and Carol kept in great contact, answered all our questions, and fulfilled our inquiry's about the local area, places to go, and things do...They even offered to help dig us out after the snow storm. We really had a nice time...the place, and hospitality were great. Thanks guys!
The kitchen is in a great central location. The sun shines brightly into the room, we had to wear sunglasses inside in the morning. I would come back.
We are located in Moonridge, between both ski mountains a mile or two from the zoo and golf course.
There have been recent additions of things to do in Big Bear, including two zip lines, para-sailing, and bicycling at snow summit ski hill. They have increased and improved the many bike trails and the ski lift provides a ride to the top with the bikes loaded on special racks on the back of the ski chairs. The chalet at the top is open for lunch and drinks etc. Big Bear, of course, has great fishing with either boat rentals at three marinas or guided tours with fishing professionals. The water skiing in the summer is great as is the para sailing and wake board parks we have here.
The Big Bear Village has been renovated with new wider heated sidewalks, benches, landscaping and fire pits. A beautiful shopping and dining area.
There are several new venues for live music and nightly entertainment in Big Bear along with CATS theater and great places to shop and dine. We have water slides in the summer and in the winter they become fast or slow sledding rides.
Big Bear also has guided horseback riding. Old miner days, Cowboy poetry days, Chili cook offs and hundreds of year around activities to enjoy and make your stay in the mountains a good one.
