Loved staying at Villa PicaPau! such a beautiful area in Monchique and close to the town with supermarkets etc. In distance of a lot of nice places to visit such as beaches and zoo marine. Very peaceful villa and lovely surroundings, the garden with the pool and the View of the Sea were highlights of the property. The lady who manages the house was very welcoming, and everything we needed was provided. Would definitely recommend staying and we will be returning. Thank you for your hospitality and good communication.

My family had a great experience in this cozy villa tucked away in this wonderful Portuguese mountain facing the Sea. Portugal has incredible weather so we end up with a lot of sunny and warm days even in the winter, perfect for travelling around, going to golf or enjoying the local cuisine. We wanted to leave our thanks for a relaxing holiday and great service by the owners. Until next year.
All the best,

We had a wonderful two weeks stay at this villa. The villa is spacious clean and well presented, with everything available you may need. The pool and surrounding area are the best we have ever seen, the view from the pool and patio area are amazing and have to be seen to be believed. All is very secluded and you are not overlooked at all, we didn't hear anybody in the whole time we stayed. We have stayed in monchique many times, but this holiday was by far the best. Maria is a perfect host always available, but also respects your privacy. Although secluded you are only four minutes drive from the nearest restaurants. We will be returning most definately.
We spent 11 days with our family of six in this nice villa. Very quiet area, all rooms sufficiently large and clean. We will certainly recommend it to friends/family.
Remark : the television could be larger - it was sometimes difficult to see the ball during the World Championships football :-)
We contacted Maria regarding a different villa, but they suggested this one as it is south facing and with the wood burning fire would be warmer in February. We arrived at the time of the storms that affected all of Europe and in spite of unusual heavy rain in the first week we where very comfortable at Pica Pau. On arrival the fire had been lit, very welcome! Monchique is good area for (hill) walking and we had a number of enjoyable walks - the tourist information will print you out maps of the way-marked walks in the area. The villa is well equipped, the kitchen has good equipment, so eating in is easy also good restaurants nearby (30 min walk or 10 min drive). Would highly recommend.
Sensational views, mountain walks and pine forests – Monchique has since Roman times been known as the garden of the Algarve, and being situated on the highest mountain in the wide region it offers stunning panoramas to the south coast.
Drive up the winding road to Monchique and you’ll catch the heady fragrance of pine, eucalyptus and mimosa from the woodland-cloaked hills. This sets the scene for one refreshingly rural holiday. Perched on the hillside, this is a market town in the true...Known for its clean spring water, pure air and hospitable people.
