Casa Alexandra is set over two levels, this spacious villa boasts 4 double bedrooms two with en suite, a further family shower room, ample dining area and a fully equipped kitchen ready to provide al fresco dining in a relaxing rural setting.

The main indoor living space features a large bright family room with double doors opening onto a balcony all tastefully decorated and furnished. With enough seating for a number of people, two very large comfortable settees and an armchair complement a matching coffee table, cabinet and Tv stand upon which a sits a 40' flat screen with access to British Freeview.

The dining and kitchen area gives a spacious open plan feeling. The dining table seats 8 to 10 people overlooked by a kitchen that generously comprises all major appliances including a dishwasher, microwave, toaster, kettle, oven and hob as well as all the cutlery you will need.

With an incredible retro 70's suite including a super king size bed, wardrobe and dressing table, bedroom 1 also contains a separate single bed, en suite bathroom and private entrance/exit to the property grounds. There is also a ceiling fan, and being on the ground floor the room is easier to keep cool during hot nights. It also provides extra privacy from the main area's upstairs making it ideal for those within the group to find a little peace and quiet.

Upstairs, bedroom 2 has a spacious feel, comprising a queen size iron frame bed, tastefully fitted wardrobe with bedside tables a chest of draws and an ensuite toilet with shower room.

Across the hallway bedroom 3 finds itself with a built-in wardrobe fitted cupboards and queen size bed.

Right next door, bedroom 4 is perfect for the kids or those who don't mind sharing. A fitted wardrobe, chest of draws and bedside table provide storage with 1 standard double and 2 single beds in bunk bed form occupying the main floor space - all decorated in a relaxing colour.

Each of the upstairs bedrooms house remote control air conditioning units to keep you cool, as well as an outside blind, easily pulled down and perfect for those who wish to sleep in!

Heading to the rear of the Villa is the conservatory or games room, where not only will you find a huge array of holiday reading material but table and chairs and our pool & snooker table that brilliantly flips over into air hockey. Needless to say this is great entertainment for the whole family. Large sliding double doors then open out onto the patio and garden area.

Perfect for al fresco dining, surrounded by mountains and looking out onto a lovely landscaped garden that is just great for kids, the exterior of the property features a well maintained 10 x 5 metre swimming pool as it's centrepiece along with a barbecue and all the outdoor furniture one would expect for a group of up to 10 people.

In addition to this we have a full size table tennis table complete with four bats and loads of spare balls, this and a huge selection of DVD's is just perfect to keep everyone entertained.

A car is essential when renting the villa.

We also have a very helpful and excellent representative on hand by the name of Debbie who manages the upkeep of the property. She will assist you on your arrival, take you through the information pack and answer any queries you may have during your stay at the villa.

*Currently there are no railings around the swimming pool meaning those with very young children should be take extra care. Temporary/removable railings are something we are looking at providing soon. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to call or email, I'll only be too happy to help.

About Alex Grimwood

My parents along with my Aunt purchased Casa Alexandra in the summer of 2007 after falling in love with the town of Xativa on a chance holiday with some relatives. Having retired, they sold up in England and achieved the dream of living abroad for 4 amazing years. They made great friends, had marvellous weather and thoroughly enjoyed the experience until recently deciding to return home to see more of their 3 sons, of which I am one.

Why Alex Grimwood chose Xàtiva

Xativa is a beautiful, lively town of approx 30,000 inhabitants, the old capital of the Valencia Region. We had never heard of the town until my sister came to live here, she originally intended to make her home in Denia, but was persuaded to have a look further inland and discovered this hidden gem, we came out for a visit and immediately fell in love with the place.

The Town, originally Roman, was founded because of it’s unlimited supply of fresh water which is provided by natural springs, you will often see people filling their water bottles from one of the many fountains. The historic old town is fascinating, particularly the castle ruins which is serviced by an excellent tour. From the beautiful Basilica houses to some of the effigies that are paraded through the town on Good Friday, something not to be missed. At Christmas the tree and Nativity Garden stand for the 12 days and are never vandalised, something that would be a miracle in the U.K, the festivities conclude on the 6th Jan with the festival of the Three Kings, a lovely festival for the children. Then, in March is the Spectacular Fire Festival, when the most incredible paper mache effigies are built and then burnt, all this in the middle of a busy town.

On summer evenings the atmosphere is one of family and community, people of all ages out until very late enjoying life, certainly the older residents of Xativa are not worried about strolling around the town at midnight.

The surrounding countryside is very green, the mountains offer a a breathtaking backdrop to the orange and olive groves which are abundant here. There are lovely walks through quiet areas and rivers full of fish. Birdlife is varied and some are very pretty, a visiting friend, counted 22 different species in one morning while sitting in our garden. All this and only 30 mins drive from the sea. I could go on about the place forever, but don’t take my word for it, come and see for yourself, you will not be disappointed.

What makes this villa unique

The grounds are large with a well maintained garden that seemed very rare when we were looking to buy. Most of the Villa's just seemed to have concrete or tiled verandahs; but we have lot's of grass and plants. Also, we have a big family and lot's of friends, but whoever was coming out to see us- there was always room! And, being a split level property it's easy for two families to have a bit of get away from each other for a while!

Finding the perfect area to live in was vital and with Spain being such a vast country it could have been easy to make a mistake.

What we wanted was to sample a true Spanish way of life; one which had appealed to us for a number of years. It was particularly important to find an area that wasn't besieged by tourists all year round but did provide all the amenities you would expect- great restaurants, good night-life for when our son's visit, a beautiful setting and most importantly; lovely people with a community feel. This, Xativa certainly has in abundance.

Excellent family retreat!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at Casa Alexandra last June and had a fantastic time. The villa was very clean, well furnished and equipped with absolutely everything you can think of. The garden was big and well kept with a lovely swimming pool!

Our 3 children enjoyed playing badminton, table tennis and never seemed to be off the pool table. Xativa is a very pretty town with lots of restaurants, beeches and they are very close.

Alex and the housekeeper Debbie were extremely helpful and we definetly recommend Casa Alexandra! Enjoy!

We had a brilliant holiday at Casa Alexandra . The villa has loads of room with everything you could possibly want. The pool is gorgeous the perfect way to cool down. I have two children who had such a great time they can't wait to come back. I highly recommend Casa Alexandra, it is a lovely peaceful area but still with lots to do.

Fint afsides feriehus

  • 3 of 5

Huset var fint og levede op til billederne på homeaway. De udedørs møbler trænger dog til at blive skiftet.

Der er langt til byen.

Casa Alexandra is located on the outskirts of one of Spain's hidden gems; the beautiful historic town of Xativa, once the capital of Valencia and the birthplace of the Borgias. The town offers an excellent choice of restaurants and cafés complemented by a variety of smart modern shops, beautiful architecture and tree lined avenues. The old

town is a sight seeing delight; from the splendid cathedral and medieval castle which sits high on a mountain overlooking the town to a local market twice weekly and a

nightlife that buzzes with friendly family atmosphere on the weekends. On the doorstep of the villa there are several

scenic walks with lovely mountain views, Bixquert tennis club with a bar and restaurant as well as the luxury of being well connected by the towns excellent

railway station which provides only a 40 minutes journey to Valencia. And if it's a beach you are after, then a 30

minute car ride takes you to the gorgeous sands of Travernes or Gandia.
