Winterton on Sea is ideally placed to explore the Norfolk coastline with its quiet sandy beaches, picturesque villages, bird sanctuaries and nature reserves. Nature lovers will find the Norfolk Broads a great attraction, as will walkers and cyclists. Above all, Winterton provides an opportunity to get away from it all as its beaches and tranquillity are what make it so special. Compass Cottage lies in the heart of the village and is nearby the local pub, The Fisherman’s Return, a 300 year old establishment offering local ales, good food and facilities for families, including a large safe garden. Historic Norwich lies 20 miles to the West with its fine cathedral, ancient cobbled streets and great shops. Only 25 miles north is the North Norfolk Coast and the well known towns of Cromer, Sheringham and Wells next the Sea and ten miles south lies Great Yarmouth for family entertainment, amusements and all that is traditional for a lively English seaside resort.
What a wonderful holiday cottage, we have stayed at many holiday properties big & small, the owners have gone to a lot of trouble to make sure everything is provided, even down to little things like cotton wool balls in bathroom and spare light bulbs. This cottage is delightful from the time you enter the cosy lounge.
Not far from beach so wonderful for the dogs, they had a great time. Good Beach cafe with sumptuous cakes! Winterton is a lovely village, lots of thatched cottages and roses round the doors. Although in a quiet village not far from the rest of the world!
Sue, Steven & Becci + the two hounds
Lovely homely feel to the cottage
Loved the village
A must is a walk along the beach northwards to see the seals
We will definitely visit the area again
Some equipment although functioning would be better fur mauntenance/replacement
Our 2nd stay at this lovely cosy cottage with our two collies. An enclosed garden allows the dogs to lay outside with no fear of dissapearing! This is our dog holiday. We never used our car once during our stay. Dogs loved the beach , but most of all loved the dunes. We walked for miles. Pub great although the meals are huge! Fish/chip shop so handy and good, as is the post office and well stocked little supermarket. We have already booked again for next year . Had a well deserved break. Thank you
We have visited Winterton on Sea fairly regularly over the last 2 years and Admiral Cottage is definitely one of the nicest holiday lets we have stayed in. Clean, comfortable and welcoming with it's own off street parking. Perfect to explore the beautiful coast. Winterton is great for a break away from it all with a good 'dog friendly' pub and great café on the beach (Seasonal opening times)
Admiral Cottage is a very clean, well equipped cottage in fantastic location. A very short walk to the beach in one direction and an even shorter walk to the village pub in the other direction. It has tons of character and a lovely comfortable feel about it. There are three tv's with built in DVD players, very comfortable settee and arm chairs, a lovely fireplace, two great shower/bathrooms and a well equipped kitchen. Very pleased with our stay and after three days my partner was already dropping hints to come back next year.
The cottage was charming. It was furnished much more like a home, not a holiday rental, and had everything you could require. The weather turned a bit chilly during our stay and the electric heaters warmed the rooms in a matter of minutes.
The beds were lovely and comfortable and we slept really well. The showers were really powerful and there was an unlimited amount of hot water.
Ideally located 1 min from a friendly local , 2mins to the sand dunes, and 2 mins to the shops we had a brilliant stay. The dogs were worn out by the end of the day and quite happy to flop in their beds. Quite unusually dog towels and throws were provided.
Thank you for a wonderful holiday
