About this property

Torran Cottage - The Highland Cottage with a Piano

Short Term Let Licence Number: HI-00121-F

Torran cottage is a two bed property, set in a beautiful and remote location on the Stoer Peninsular, just north of Lochinver. The cottage is surrounded by spectacular coastline & mountains and offers a wonderful base for walking, mountaineering, swimming & kayaking or for day trips north or south on the spectacular far north west coast of the UK. The cottage has two good sized bedrooms, a bathroom, a fully equipped kitchen, dining room, garden/sun room and a cosy sitting room with a wood-burning stove. Torran Cottage offers a very comfortable and cosy home-from-home!

Torran Cottage offers spacious living accommodation, with 3 reception areas. It has a modern upright piano in the sun room which guests are welcome to play. There is wood-burning stove in the living room and a fully equipped kitchen.

The cottage has oil fired central heating and hot water, mains electricity and mains water.

The kitchen has a fridge/freezer, washer/dryer machine, dishwasher, microwave, kettle, toaster, electric oven with induction hob and is fully equipped with all the kitchen crockery, glasses, utensils, pots & pans you could need.

Downstairs there is a good sized dining area, a garden/sun room with piano, a cosy sitting room with a multi fuel stove and a bookshelf full of books, CDs, games and ordinance survey maps. Digital FreeSat TV is available with over 200 channels.

The cottage has a 4G Router with unlimited data which provides very fast wifi.

Upstairs, there is a large double bedroom and a second bedroom with 2 twin beds which can be put together to form a king-size. There is a travel cot but no bedding to go with this apart from a sheet.

A good sized bathroom is also upstairs with a very large shower, basin and WC. Egyptian cotton bed linen & towels are provided.

Dogs are welcome with prior enquiry & £30 per stay fee. Please see House Rules - "Additional Rules".

Please note that there is an additional charge of £5 per guest per night (when more than 2 people are staying). This is due to the recent large increase in laundry costs when 4 people stay in the cottage.

Torran Cottage is a non smoking residence.

Advance cleaning protocols are adhered to.

Cried when we left..
We have just returned from this magical place ... We have had the quietest, most relaxing week..eating lovely food and walking in nature..beaches and mountain views to die for. The location is very remote, a good 30 minute drive to find petrol so pre planning your supplies of food and a full tank is a must. The house is so well thought out, everything you could need, a stunning view and very well apointed, warm and cosy. Daisy our host could not have been more helpful. We loved it so much we did not want to leave. The wifi works well enough that the kids could play they're games when we were home. And we were still able to work a little, as we both run buisnesses. Morning coffe overlooking the view out on the bench is a real 'must'. We cant reccomend this place enough and will return .

I am a mum of 2 and a professional Music Therapist working in special education, dementia care and an NHS hospital children's ward. I love the countryside and my family spend most of our time exploring nature. I am a keen photographer and enjoy walking, cooking and music. My husband, Nathan, is a classical pianist and composer which is why we have a piano in the cottage, both for us and guests to enjoy.

Why they chose this property

We love the location of this cottage and everything there is to explore in the surrounding area. Wonderful walking right from the cottage. Endless beautiful beaches nearby. Day trips up to the far north or down to the Summer Isles are easily achievable in a day. Lochinver is a 25 minute drive away and the beautiful Loch Assynt a little further.

What makes this property unique

The entire NC500 route is accessible and ready for you to explore from this cottage. For those wanting to tour, fish, hike, explore flora and fauna, mountain climb - or simply enjoy a relaxing week in a cosy, comfortable cottage, Torran Cottage offers it all!
