About Bill Donohue

My family discovered Waterville Estates as renters many years ago and after many seasons of renting, we finally purchased the Mountain Top House. It's a pleasure sharing this special place with others that appreciate and respect it!

Bill Donohue purchased this house in 2003

Why Bill Donohue chose Waterville Valley Area

The views at the house really set it apart from other houses and rentals. The house itself was a custom built architecturally designed in 1980, and while we have made many updates, we have maintained the cozy feel and charm of the original decor.

What makes this house unique

Did I mention the spectacular views? In addition, the Mountain Top House offers lots of space and sleeping options for groups, family reunions, corporate retreats, etc. Access to the Community Rec Center facilities at the base of the mountain is also a big plus.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Tried to leave it as clean as we could and follow your directions to the dot ;-).

beautiful home and absolutely spectacular views!

  • 5 of 5

We spent the next to last week of August 2017 at the mountain top property. Three generations of family, (11) altogether enjoyed a wonderful New Hampshire week here. All I have heard since is best vacation ever! We would highly recommend this property to anyone.

Great house and nonstop grand views.

  • 5 of 5

The house beautifully accommodated six adults and four children: common areas great for all ten plus occasional guests for dining and movie nights. The loft, downstairs living room and bedrooms allowed privacy if you wanted. The views of the White Mountains are transendant - always different colors, textures, and clarity as the day and weather changed. And, on clear nights, flatlanders will see stars they forgot were up there. Ascending and descending the mountain was always a treat and the location is very convenient to Franconia Notch attractions, Lincoln, Loon, Mt Washington, and Squam. The Community center was a great way the unwind after a day of hiking.

Stay At Mountain View House

  • 4 of 5

It is a lovely location . We were able to take to family on nice sights like the Flume and the Polar Caves. The house was plenty of room for the 8 of us.

It was very helpful to be able to just clean our areas and leave the linens etc for your decision.

We had to replace both containers in the Gas Grill as they were empty when we went to use it. There was still coffee grounds in one of the coffee makers. Those were small things we thought should have your attention.

Thank you

Joan Watson-Jones

I was sent an email last week from Bill Donahue that our security deposit was sent to me but I haven't seen it yet. In what form will the deposit be sent?

Thanks

Beautiful views from the deck but review maybe 2 1/2 stars

  • 2 of 5

Views were great! However we had a number of issues with the home itself. Bill was eager to try and help but unfortunarely the many issues really put a damper on our stay. Although the home had been cleaned we felt it really needs a major deatail scrubbing. The Jacuzzi was unusable and the bath on the lower level has mold around the tub. The shower curtain was scummy. We spent the first evening cleaning the counters and bathrooms mainly for our own comfort.

Neither TV was set to be used we finally got the upstairs one working fine.

Bill did try to help via phone to get the downstairs working but after an hour or two I finally gave up.

There were plenty of dishes , utensils, and towels to use and the overall space was good.

There were some holes in screens and some of the windows did not open.

All of these issues may have been dealt with but the major problem we had was as the week went on we were overcome with carpenter ants!

By Thursday of the week we found them coming out from all floors especially the top floor. Bill tried to be responsive but not much could be done. He offered to send someone but with four children including a two year old we were uncomfortable having someone do any major spraying.

Before we went out for the day I stayed back and sprayed some raid by fhe time we got back In the evening we were vacuuming literally hundreds of dead and crawling insects. Needless to say we cleaned all we could and left the house cleaner than when we arrived, but tried to get out of there as quickly as we could on Saturday morning.

Hopefully these issues will be taken care of before someone else attempts to rent.

We nhokd no animosity but we're greatly disappointed in the accommodations.

Owner's Response: As an owner that really goes out of his way to ensure his renters have a pleasant experience, I'm very sorry that you were disappointed. I understand from your wife that she was going in for cancer surgery the following week, so I can imagine how stressed your family was, despite being in such a gorgeous location. We have a new cleaning service -- that I've been monitoring closely -- so your cleaner feedback is disappointing but appreciated. When I got up to the house after your stay, I found that both TV's were working just fine. The key is to select the proper input button (from the remote control)... as I tried to instruct you over the phone. I am also really sorry about the ant invasion that you experienced. If I had only known it was a developing problem earlier in the week, we could have addressed it before it got so out of control. We had the exterior of the house professionally treated after your stay and I'm happy to report there has been no sign of ants since. Again, best of luck with the cancer prognosis. I truly hope your stay at the top of Campton Mountain provided some degree of comfort and peace of mind as your family prepared to take on that challenge.

Spacious, well equipped mountain view home!

  • 5 of 5

Plenty of room for our 14 family members. The view from the deck is spectacular! The home was well equipped for our weekend stay. Bill, the owner, was very quick to communicate and give several recommendations of place to eat and different activities. It rained on Saturday night, but that didn't spoil our fun with all the board games and room we had to do things. I gave 5 stars, the only thing I had missed was the jacuzzi tub was not working properly.
