5bed/3bath 3,877sqft. Craftsman Dream home on Green Lake w/ 50+ acres
- English, Portuguese
I had the pleasure of growing up on this amazing lake. During college I returned home as often as I could for fishing and hunting with dad. I now live in the Twin Cities, but return to lake often. The one-hour drive from Minneapolis makes it feasible to just come up for a night or two and be back in the metro quickly.
Andy purchased this House in 2017
Why Andy chose Princeton
This property provides great opportunity for year around fun! I have fond memories of catching fish after fish right behind the house. Some of the best days of catching big sunfish in June come from an overhanging tree on the shoreline that is now ours. I also have vivid memories on the ice of disappearing bobbers turning into 13” crappies not even 150 yards from the house. I now have a 10 pound walleye and multiple ducks on the wall that I have harvested from the lake. I could go on about my memories on this lake for 10 pages, but to sum it up – some of the best are tubing, learning to slalom ski, wake boarding, trophy bass, walleye, and just enjoying the natural beauty of the lake. The seasons are amazing here. In the spring you will have the ducks, geese, trumpeter swans, etc. All summer long you can enjoy great fishing and recreation + beautiful sunsets. One of the best restaurants in the state is within 5 minutes. In the fall the changing colors of the trees is accompanied by an abundant population of bald eagles. Along with the eagles are many beautiful diving ducks, swans, and geese. After the local ducks depart, the huge northern flights of mallards move in. Before you know it the lake begins freezing up and we are out there pounding crappies and walleyes. The winter brings great opportunities for ice fishing and snowmobiling. The house is just off a very popular snowmobile trail in a stretch between the Hi-Way Inn and The Mystic Bar.
What makes this House unique
The close proximity to Twin Cities allows families to enjoy a true 'northern' destination without having to sit in the car for an 8 hour round trip. The home is very spacious and can entertain very large groups of people. The crafstmanship and quality of construction definetly stand out. The privacy is unbelievable. Green lake is the largest lake in Isanti County. At over 800 acres in size it is also the best fishing and recreational lake in the area!

Good House, Amenities Need Improvement
The house itself was good. Nice furnishings. Comfortably fit 12 adults. The canoe and big buck hunter were both broken, and the lake was unswimable due to algae. Andy was very responsive and informative.
Thanks for your feedback Molly. I will be removing the canoe and big buck hunter from the listing. They are constant maintenance issues for me. Most of our guests are great, but only one bad group will wreak havoc on the bonus amenities we try to provide our guests. We ordered parts from China to repair the big buck hunter; and it is broken for the 4th time. I am glad you enjoyed your stay; and apologize about the broken canoe and video game.
New House, bad lake. Owner not accommodating.
The lake was really green and gross. Full of weeds and milfoil. Could not swim from shore. The house was new but staged to sell so not much furniture or creature comforts. Owner charged us for damage that was there before we got there. Would not go back.
Unfortunately this group burned out the pump on our septic system lift station. I warn every guest about flushing feminine hygiene products down the toilet; and have signs on every toilet. Nathan acknowledged that he let everyone in their group know about this. My plumber is 100% sure someone from his group flushed these and we have pictures. The septic was running without issue for 3 or 4 days while they stayed at the home, then the day of their check out backed up; and the pump was burned out with 4-5 tampons stuck in the grinder. I did everything I could to forewarn them as it is clearly spelled out everywhere I can without being offensive. I would not stage a home to sell with a pool table, bunk beds, trundle beds, etc. The repair to septic cost me over $700, and I was nice enough to split the cost with them. This is sad.
Nice house with lots of space some issues though
We did have a great time while staying here; however, there were definitely some issues that I think could be addressed. When we arrived trash and recycling were overflowing and at the end of the driveway. This left us nowhere to dispose of our garbage and one evening something got into the trash forcing us to clean up someone else’s garbage or let it blow all over the cul de sac. Yuck!! We also arrived to find dirty dishes in the dishwasher as well as one of the beds with no sheets. As frequent renters we didn’t complain about these issues since we recognize that the owner may not be at the property between renters and can’t necessarily control if people complete the checklist as requested prior to leaving; however, this is something for others to be aware of especially given that a cleaning fee is included in the cost. We were also a little disappointed with the lake and beach situation. The beach was very minimal and the lake really lived up to the name of Green Lake with a layer of green on the top of the water. The dock looked nothing like the pictures. We were surprised to see that the back of the house faces a swamp which meant tons and tons of bugs at nighttime. The screened porch was a HUGE bonus in the evening as it allowed a place to feel outside without being eaten alive. The beds were not very comfortable and the addition of better window treatments would have been appreciated by those of us who don’t enjoy waking up at the crack of dawn.
Andy was very responsive and although we did have a little mix up with renting the pontoon boat he was reasonable and understanding.
Overall, the place was good for accommodating our large group and the proximity to the Twin Cities was a huge plus.
We had some rough guests before your stay that did not inform me they were having a stag party. I try to make every stay the best I can and have addressed every issue you mentioned that I could. It can be frustrating being an owner and having back to back stays in the summer when some guest break things, then the next guest has to deal with it and the owner takes the brunt of it on both sides.
Very Nice Place
Beautiful house with lots of space. We hosted my husbands birthday here and enjoyed grilling out and soaking in the view. Unfortunately the rainy weather didn't accommodate for lake time or using the fire pit, but the screened in porch was awesome for the little ones to play on safely. Also, the bald eagle nest nearby is a very cool bonus.
A great space!! Beautiful, clean, and just what we needed!
We rented this home for a girls weekend bachelorette for 10 ppl. It was the perfect size and location and we enjoyed our stay! There was plenty of space to gather upstairs or downstairs for activities and the screened in porch is incredible. Clean, well stocked, and comfortable. The owner answered all of my questions and communicated everything we needed to know ahead of time, which was great. The outdoor space is beautiful and we wish the weather had been nice enough to take the pontoon out! Overall a wonderful weekend. We all wish we could make this an annual trip! Thank you!!
Thanks Allison, it was wonderful having you as guests and getting a chance to meet you!
Great house, great outdoor recreation options. Lacking some amenities could use more furniture. Definitely recommend if staying with more than 8-10 people to bring your own lawn chairs to use around house.
Proximity to Pine Brook Inn (excellent food), convenience store, liquor store, and bait shop all within 5 minutes. The Hi-Way Inn bar and grill is not even two miles away and has great pizza. They also offer delivery. 15 minute drive to Cambridge or Princeton for just about everything you may need. Princeton has a large splash park that children love, softball fields, golf, etc. The owner currenlty owns an additional 50+ acres with the lake home that can be used for mountain biking, four wheeeling, hiking, etc.
