My company which called “etouri” is located in 271 Arkadiou Str. Rethymno, Crete and is approved by the Greek Tourist Organisation with license number: 1041E60610185001
We had a fabulous holiday as a party of of 5 adults and 3 young children and would recommend the villa, in particular:
-Good sized pool with stunning sea views, loungers, enclosed garden, and swings/seesaw in the front garden
-Friendly and fast communication from both the owner and the booking agent (Kostas at Etouri) throughout- from initial enquiries, booking, and once we were there on holiday. We had a small problem with one of the air conditioning units and the owner was there within an hour and fixed it immediately.
-5 minute walk to two excellent beach taverns- Taverna Kyma and Taverna Chrysos Asterias. Both offer delicious cheap food, friendly service, stunning sunsets, free sunbeds/umbrellas, and large children’s play areas. We ate at these tavernas every day and never got bored.
-Bright and airy bedrooms all with AC, shutters, and 3 with ensuites.
- the holiday concierge service from Etouri was excellent and made everything easy. We used the service to book taxis and pick up our shopping list so food and drinks were waiting in our villa on arrival. The villa has a landline connected to Etouri which was ideal. We also used their car rental recommendation.
- the location is great but I would recommend a car- beach (5 min walk), Rethymnon (15 min drive), Kavros resort for shops/restaurants (5 min drive), Kournos Lake (10 min drive), Georgopolis (10 min drive), Episkopi supermarket (5 min drive), Agyropolis mountain village (10 min drive), Chania airport (50 minutes)
- high quality cot and highchair provided for free
- good wifi
- We really appreciated the departure gifts of calendars and books on Crete- a really lovely touch.
The only not-so-good things:
-the narrow spiral staircase is not ideal for young children or for carrying large suitcases up and down.
- Two of the bedrooms are adjoining (you need to walk through one to get to the other) which was fine for our family but maybe wouldn’t be ideal for everyone
-the road to/from the beach tavernas is quite steep, busy and doesn’t have pavements (I’d recommend using torches for coming home at night -the torches on our phones were fine). The shortcut path is very steep and unmanageable with a buggy/stroller so we had to use the road
- A parasol/canopy would have been good for providing some shade in the garden/pool area.
Overall we had a fab holiday- thank you!
Almost everything was very good with the house. A small minor thoughts:
#The road down to the beach is a bit dangereous for kids. It seemed to be an other way close to the neibourgh but he complained when we tried to use that road because it was private..
# The aircondition in our bedroom sounded very loud.
#We where also wondered about the dogs. Who where the owner of them. They where nice anyhow, but they seemed to have no owner...?
We where very nice treated by the owner and by Kostas. Very nice garden, pool, view, beach and house
Our villas are in one of the best locations for vacation in the whole Crete and we can assure you that! In only 150 m away from the front of the villas, you can find the one of the best sandy beaches of the north coast, the beach Episkopi, which is 10 km long and was named after the village (Episkopi), which is only 1.5 km away from our villas.
The sea in this area is regarded to be the cleanest and most beautiful on the north coast. Even in the high summer season, you can easily find a secluded spot on your own or a strip with sun beds and parasols, if that is what you prefer. There are several taverns and beach bars directly on the beach, which they all are very popular to the locals and they are quite lively during the week-ends.
The village of Episkopi has many shops, traditional taverns, cafes and some supermarkets for your supplies!
As it is in the good location, you can visit Rethymno city in less than 10 min or Chania city, which is about 30 min away!
It will be our pleasure to provide you with all the information that you might need for the area, where to eat or where to shop and what you should visit!
Nearby sightseeing spots that you should visit are :
Argiroupoli village: In a distance of 7 km is Argiroupoli, a well-known village for the small spring waterfalls and the amount of the great, traditional taverns under the big trees! It is built on a 260 m altitude on the foot of Azonas hill and it has view on the lush green and flourishing valley of Mouselas River, whose 10 rich springs are 50 meters underneath the village.
In a distance of 10 km from the villas is the only natural freshwater lake in Crete, Kournas Lake was known as Lake Koressia in antiquity but later took its current name from the Arabic word for lake.
Georgoupolis village is 7km away from the villas, on the way to Chania. Formerly a small fishing village, Georgioupolis is rather a tourist town now with many cafes, taverns and small hotels and apartment blocks. The town square is surrounded by outdoor seating used by tourists enjoying their drinks and ice creams. The 9 km beach is the main attraction of the area, with Kalyvaki beach on the other side of the river as well.
It will be our pleasure to provide you all the information that you might need about the area, where to eat or from where to shop and what you have to visit!
PLEASE be advised that the villa may appear on a different 'location category' on Homeaway affiliate websites, depending on their categorized locations (each affiliate website has its own 'location categories').
