2 Bed/2Bath Apt on the Edge of the Cabo De Gata Natural Park with Sea Views
This Contemporary 2 bedroomed apartment in Retamar Sur is on the edge of the Cabo De Gata Natural Park with Sea and Pool Views.
The apartment offers spacious and light accommodation with modern furnishings throughout. It has air-conditioning/heating making it suitable for all year round holidays.
The accommodation consists of a hallway. Fully fitted modern kitchen with ample storage and cupboard space and well equipped with china and utensils. There is a cooker, hob, fridge/freezer, kettle, toaster, dishwasher and microwave. There is a separate utility room off the kitchen with washing machine and separate sink. There is a clothes dryer, iron, ironing board and hairdryer.
The large open plan living/dining area has 2 sofas, 1 of which is a sofa bed. There is a 39' LED HD digital TV with sky box which has some UK satellite channels along with Apple TV and a DVD/CD player. The dining table seats up to 6 people. Patio doors lead to a sunny small balcony overlooking the pool with a small table and 4 chairs.
There is a twin bedroom with large wardrobes and a LCD TV with Spanish digital box and wii console, controls and a selection of games.
The master bedroom has a king size bed, large wardrobes and a second sunny balcony overlooking the sea and natural park with a table and 2 chairs.
There is an en-suite bathroom to the master bedroom with bath/shower over, wc, sink basin and bidet. There is also a second bathroom with a shower cubicle, wc and sink basin. Both bathrooms have mirrored cabinets and towel rails.
The apartment is suitable for children and there are books, games, DVD's and outside toys available along with a travel cot and car booster seat if required. We also have golf clubs available for use. No smoking and no pets are allowed in the apartment.

Home from home
It is a beautiful apartment. Very well furnished and everything you could need for a self catering holiday. The underground parking was a huge bonus as it was quite a busy area for December for parking so I imagine it would be great to have in the summer as your car would also be cool. The area was quite but that was the reason we picked it as you could have lovely walks in peace. There were local shops and buses which would be handy if you didn't want to hire a car. We did as there are no flights to almeria from where we live so we had to fly into Murcia.
The golf is great and was very good value. So all in all a lovely area and a beautiful apartment for a lovely holiday.
Collecting keys and getting your deposit returned was a great experience .
The owner Paula were very helpful and sent very good details of the area etc. Also lovely chairs for around the pool in the apartment.
Their was only two of us but the apartment was equipped for six. So all in all a great holiday and espically since it was December. We spent nine days there.
Well presented Retemar apartment
A great base for chilling out and / or taking in the sights of the Almeria area. Plenty choice for local shopping, bars and cafes as well as very nice walks in the immediate area. Retamar is extremely well presented and the apartment is just a short walk to the beach. Would have no hesitation in returning to both the apartment and the area itself. Over two weeks we managed to visit many interesting and lovely places without having to spend too much time driving.
Excellent location. Brand new flat and furniture. Fully equipped house ( kitchen, bed linen, golf clubs, travel buggy for children). Lovely landlady. Parking and lift.
A Pristine And Well Maintained Property
We visit this area of Spain year on year in the autumn because we know that it usually provides great weather when the rest of Europe is cooling down for winter. The payoff for that is that it is dry and arid, and at this time of year very quiet. To us, that is the beauty of the place, but I would suggest that a car is essential to benefit from all the unique sights and secluded beaches that are within the Natural Park, right next to this apartment.
The apartment is located within walking distance of the few shops, bars, restaurants, and of course beach at Retamar, which is a resort favoured by local Spanish tourists, so you won't find any of those Benidorm style British bars here. Another aspect we love about it.
The apartment is spotlessly clean, immaculately maintained with an interior furnished in a very modern style, and boasts the best equipped kitchen we have ever found in a rental property. There is a communal pool,but that closes for the winter season at the end of September. Travellers also need to be aware that the nearest airport - Almeria, which is only 15 minutes away by car, also closes to direct international flights to Manchester around the end of October for the winter. However, Easy Jet flights to and from Gatwick are currently available all year round. Other all year airports are a couple of hours drive either way - Malaga or Alicante, and car hire is readily available from all these locations, and can usually be booked with your chosen airline.
There is lots to do and see in this area as long as you don't expect the usual very boisterous Spanish holiday that British tourist have grown to expect. It provides more for walkers and nature lovers, and also movie fans, who can follow the location trail of many a Hollywood movie that was shot in this vicinity.
We thoroughly enjoyed our month's stay here, and would have no hesitation in recommending this apartment. We have already passed on details to our friends.
Centraal gelegen fijn appartement met gezamenlijk zwembad
Schoon appartement voorzien van alle gemakken (ook spullen als parasol, spelcomputer, apple tv, speelgoed, boeken). Gezamenlijk zwembad is schoon. Rustig complex. Parkeergarage in kelder is ideaal.
Balkons (buitenzitje) zijn wel klein.

Almeria is situated in the south east of the Spanish peninsula and borders with the provinces of Granada and Murcia. This area has been popular with film makers as spaghetti westerns and Lawrence of Arabia were filmed here and more recently Indiana Jones and Doctor Who!.
With Almeria being the warmest driest city in Europe and an average of 320 days of annual sunshine it makes a great winter break as well as a fantastic summer holiday destination.
The lively provincial city of Almeria is around 15 minutes drive away. It is an historical town dominated by the Alcazaba a striking 10th century moorish fortress. It is a shoppers paradise with beautiful shops and is bursting with side street cafes and tapas bars. At the end of August there is a huge fiesta in the city with circus's, fairgrounds, entertainment and restaurants.
You can also take a trip to Mini Hollywood in Tabernas about half an hours drive away with spectacular views, a zoo and wild west shows and town. It is a great day out for all the family.
There are also great waterparks in Roquetas and Vera.
Granada and the famous Alhambra Palace is around 2 hours drive away or you can take the train from Almeria City. The Ski resort in the Sierra Nevada is also near Granada.
Retamar Sur is about 1km away and is quiet out of season and is popular with the Spanish in the summer. There is 15km of regenerated beach sweeping towards the Cabo de Gata natural park and its mountains. Within El Toyo, there are several 4/5 star hotels with Spa and Health Suites which are available to non-residents. El Toyo also benefits from new roads, pathways, cycle paths and extensive green areas with childrens play parks. There is a spectacular wooden promenade and a lagoon with bars and restaurants. Retamar Sur also has a number of good quality restaurants, bars and supermarkets all within walking distance and a few beach bars to watch the amazing sunset!
Within the Natural Park, there are numerous unspoiled beaches and San Jose is around 20 minutes drive away with a lovely beach and restaurants around a small harbour. The spectacular beaches of Genoveses and Monsul as seen in many Hollywood films can be reached from San Jose.
Within 5 minutes drive away is the magnificent 18 hole championship Alborian Golf Course. There are also numerous courses within an hours drive away including the Indiana course at Desert Springs.
Mountain Bike hire is also available which gives you the opportunity to explore either the local area on the cycle paths or go further along into the Cabo de Gata Natural Park.
This area is a great place to experience Spanish life without the hustle and bustle of English bars.
