Overview

About the property

Casa Alegra is spacious yet quite cozy with a great room, two bedrooms, two baths, Saltillo tile throughout, a fully equipped kitchen and an oversized covered deck which is cool even on the hottest days. We have a large yard fully surrounded with privacy fencing, an entry courtyard and attached two car garage.

From the moment you leave the interstate and begin your 12 mile drive toward Cochiti Lake, you'll realize you're entering a different world. It is truly a stunning drive as you head towards the Jemez Mountains. Our home is located in the community of Cochiti Lake which is approximately 5600' altitude. Less than five minutes away is the beautiful Cochiti Lake golf course designed by Robert Trent Jones with it's driving range, practice greens and clubhouse. In addition, there is Cochiti Lake itself which is one of the 10 largest earth-fill dams in the United States. Recreation includes boating, windsurfing, camping, picnicking, fishing and a swim beach. Just a few minutes farther is the Kasha-Katuwe Tent Rocks National Monument and hiking trails along with Pueblo de Cochiti on whose land all of these wonderful things exist. It is their generous stewardship which allows us to share their land.

There is a quiet here that calms the soul, heals the spirit and rejuvenates the weary body. We're 30 minutes from Santa Fe and about 40 minutes from Albuquerque. Both cities are unique and fabulous in their own rights. I believe however, the essence of NM is in its land and its people. It would take volumes to do adequate justice to northern New Mexico.

This house is all on one level and may be easier for those with limited mobility. There is one step at the front door. There is one step into the garage and one onto the deck. One of the baths has a large walkin shower.

We look forward to sharing our vacation home with you.

About Mona Evans

My husband and I are from the Midwest. New Mexico is our second home where we go for rejuvenating, de-stressing, Vision and to visit with friends we've met over the 28 years of our many sojourns. Casa Alegra has fulfilled our desire to have a home in this Land of Enchantment.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We had the nicest and most restful vacation we've had in a long while in your very comfortable authentic home. My husband still talks about how well he slept and the wonderful leather furniture. The stunning views are amazing. We just felt so much at home. Golf at Cochiti was fantastic. What a beautiful course. We'll definitely be back!

Relaxing and close to Santa Fe

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time here. Very relaxing and quiet! We had a small issue with the air conditioning but it was rectified quickly. The property manager was very friendly and had good information on the area. We loved that we could be in Santa Fe in 30 minutes but didn't have to stay and fight the tourists. Our views from the patio were phenomenal and this is where we spent the majority of our time. The owners have decorated the home with Southwest decor and very casual and comfortable furniture. There is a convenience store within 5 minutes and a beautiful golf course within 10 minutes. Lake Cochiti is close by with a swim beach area and picnic area. We definitely recommend staying here!

A true retreat for a quiet weekend was what we enjoyed about our stay overall.

  • 5 of 5

The house was so inviting with added casual charm. I thoroughly enjoyed cooking in the kitchen and rolled up the window blinds above the kitchen sink taking in the picturesque view. We had complete privacy in our romantic weekend celebrating our engagement most recently. The home was extremely clean and we left it in the same order out of respect for the owners who take pride of this Southwest home.

Wonderful place to stay and explore northern New Mexico

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our stay at your home. The bed was comfortable. The rest of the home was equipped well, fluffy towels, comfy furniture, and fully stocked kitchen. We sent much time on the covered deck enjoying the beautiful view. The views are outstanding. The home is located in a remote, quiet neighborhood. The owners were easy to work with and you can tell they take pride in their home and the area. Thank you for sharing your home.

The picture isn't lying!!

  • 5 of 5

The back deck is amazing, the house is so comfortable with a well appointed kitchen and pantry. Tent rocks monument is right around the corner and is a must see as well as Cochiti Lake being no more than a mile away. Bring all your groceries with you as the village store has only bare essentials making this well stocked pantry all the more appreciated. Our only issue was the limited data with internet but the owner went out of her way to make sure we were provided with service. We hope to return next year. Great place.

Beautiful home in beautiful location

  • 5 of 5

We were so fortunate to use this property as a home base for exploring Northern New Mexico. Like others before us, we spent lots of time on the deck. Beautiful!

We appreciated the well stocked kitchen, comfortable beds, and a comfortable indoor seating area with enough chairs for our group.

Neighbors (property manager) were friendly and helpful, but we enjoyed complete privacy.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
