Overview

About the property

Family friendly villa with Wifi, private pool and lots of space

This villa with free wifi is set in a large flat, south facing sunny landscaped garden with private fenced pool. It is in the countryside just 2.5km from Begur and the same distance from Tamariu beach. It is set on an enormous south facing sunny plot with pool, garden and a fruit orchard making it a haven of tranquillity and ideal for a quiet family holiday. It gets sun all day and yet there are lots of shady spots if that is what you want. The pool is surrounded by a removable security fence making it a wise choice for families with little ones. With lots of space to play it is a house that you will not want to leave.

The villa itself is split level with the kitchen, dining room and master bedroom on one level with steps down to the sitting room which opens to the terrace overlooking the pool and the countryside. Upstairs there is are two double bedrooms and a family bathroom. The beds are twin beds but can be made up as very large doubles if you wish. The kitchen is well equipped and has everything you need to cater for your holiday. There is a BBQ outside. There is also a separate laundry with washing machine and another fridge to store your drinks etc.,

There is satellite TV with English channels and a DVD player. There is also WiFi internet access.

The house has a number of areas to sit and relax both in and out of the sun. The garden around the house is landscaped and has some swings, a slide etc., There are sun loungers and outside furniture for both dining and relaxing. the orchard has a number of different fruit trees and is an ideal place for birdwatching etc.,

There is a very good supermarket nearby (before you get into Begur), a local restaurant an easy walk away and a dirt track through the forest to the beach at Tamariu.

This is an ideal holiday base for people looking for somewhere to unwind in the countryside but still very accessible to all the amenities you need to enjoy a holiday in this area.

Golf, cycling, riding and walking: For the golfer there are a number of local courses within a very short distance. At Pals there are two good courses and at Emporda one of the best courses in Spain. There is no shortage of choice in this region with courses to suit all levels from the most challenging to the more forgiving. It is up to you. Club hire is available in most places and it is relatively easy to organise tee times.

There is a very friendly English speaking golf society locally if you wish to take part in any of their competitions that is easily arranged.

This area has a large number of well mapped and signposted designated walking and cycling paths. We can arrange hire of mountain bikes for you by the day or by the week. Discover the hidden Catalonia off the beaten track through tiny medieval villages, vinyards and fields of wild lfowers, rice, wheat and sunflowers. Heaven on earth!

We can arrange riding for you or simply a quiet hack along one of the beaches, through the forest tracks or countryside.

Food and Wine:

This area is renowned for its great food and wine.

El Bulli was best Restaurant in the World for many years and during that time many young chefs worked in their kitchen. There are now a number of wonderful restaurants in Catalonia owned and run by these former students of Ardrian Ferran.

Apart from these 'top end' places (which if you ask David or Phil Fleming about they will be happy to fill you in) local Catalan food is excellent. Prices are exceptionally reasonable and a basic 10/15€ menu del dia can be a fantastic culinary experience.

The local markets have wonderful fresh fish, shellfish, vegetables and fruit if you wish to dine at home or take a picnic to the beach.

Wine here is also great with a wide variety of styles and prices. Cava tasting is a must!

Activities for children: The local autority in Begur and in fact most of Catalonia are very aware that a happy child on holiday is the key to happy parents.

Almost every evening throughout the summer there will be something for children to do in Begur between 7 and 9 pm. Of course that doesn't mean your children have to go home at that time. In fact most Spanish families are only thinking of coming out at that time. Restaurants are used to children dining with their parents at any time of the night and children are welcome everywhere.

At the park in Begur there are bouncy castles inflated from 6pm, there is usually some 'activities' in the church square and on some evenings dancing for all ages from 8 to 80! Good fun for all the family.

Please read the terms and condtions for rental in full on our website before you make a reservation. Thanks!

Guestbook comments from the manager

First of all, we would like to thank you for putting your home at our disposal during these first 2 weeks of July '10. We enjoyed very much our time here! Although we made quite some visits to the surrounding cities/area and beaches, we always liked best returning to this "home" for these 2 weeks!

This is what we liked best:

Quirien (38): view/forest & Hitch Hickers Guide movie :)

Myranda (38): olive tree & ceramic dishes

Quinten (7): swimming pool & balcony

Kyana (5): everything

Tycho (4): terrace for playing with his cars & swimming pool

Gioya (9m): swimming pool & mirrors in cupboard

It shows you have spent a lot of effort and time (under pressure of the holiday season) in fixing the house and garden after the storm. It is appreciated!

We wish you many nice times in your nice home and are considering a revisit next year!"

Absolutely fabulous villa for small children

  • 5 of 5

From the moment we arrived our children thought they had gone to heaven. Having stayed in other villas in the nearby area this was a step above any of the others in so many ways. Firstly, the management team speak our language, so nothing gets 'lost in translation'. The price quoted is what you pay unlike with the other agents we dealt with in the past. They were on hand to meet us when we arrived and explained how everything worked etc., it is a really personal service. It was great. The house itself was extremely comfortable and had everything we needed. The beds were comfortable and of a good size. We asked for a cot and that was delivered within minutes free of charge. The Wifi worked well and the TV streamed UK channels. The kitchen is well equipped and had enough dishes etc., The house is set in a huge garden/orchard where our kids played happily when not in the pool. There is sun all day and yet also shady areas to get out of the full sun if we needed to. The house is exceptionally child friendly with a fence you can chose to put around the pool if you wish. The house is beside a road but both in the house and in the garden you don't hear any traffic noise. We walked to the supermarket, tennis courts and into Begur from the house on the path to the side of the road. You could walk to Tamariu which is the nearest beach but we found it a little far for our youngest daughter. All in all we can say this was an excellent choice for our family. We loved villa Bethel and hope to return later in the summer.

Owner's Response: Thank you for taking the time to write a review for Villa Bethel. As you say it is a great choice for families. We are so glad you enjoyed your holiday and are coming back again this summer. It was a pleasure to have you and your family stay, you really seem to have made the very best of what Begur and particularly Villa Bethel had to offer. Over the winter the house has had a makeover, with new bedroom furniture, flooring and bathroom in the bedroom downstairs. I think you will find it even more comfortable and charming than last summer. We look forward to meeting you again in August. Thanks once again for such a great review. P.

Fantastic base for a family holiday

  • 5 of 5

We loved every minute of our stay at this great villa. The minute we arrived we completely relaxed. We thought that because it was beside the road it might be noisy but wasn't in the least and the road did not impact on our enjoyment of this villa in the least. We found the house to be very clean and had everything we needed to enjoy our stay. The pool has a removable fence which was a great addition as we had two under fives with us who were drawn to the pool like magnets. We stayed for a fortnight. The house had a thorough cleaning at the end of the first week with a change of linen towels etc. which we really didn't expect but really appreciated. The management company were fantastic from the get go with easy booking, great directions and a very warm welcome. David was on hand to answer all and any questions on how the house operated etc., we had no glitches, everything worked well. It was a really comfortable house and the outside space was truly amazing. You can walk to Tamariu along a dirt road beside the house which was nice and also to the supermarket nearby. You can walk along a pathway to Begur at the side of the road but coming home late you need a torch. We enjoyed every moment of our stay in Villa Bethel and have already made our reservation for this summer. Can't wait to get back there!

Fabulous Villa

  • 4 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday in Villa Bethel. It is a beautiful house with everything we needed. The garden is huge and the pool is great. Only thing that disappointed us a little was the 'orchard'; it was rather overgrown with no fruit viable to eat. Otherwise this house is perfect! V comfortable and cool, even in midday heat, lots of space and every amenity necessary. We love Begur and the surrounding area and this was a lovely place from which to enjoy it all.

Owner's Response: Thanks for taking the time to write such a positive review. We are so glad you enjoyed your time at Villa Bethel. It is a lovely villa as you say with absolutely everything you need for a fabulous holiday. The garden is, as you comment enormous and whilst the lawns and area around the house are mown and 'cultivated' the orchard is left as meadow in order to give the butterflies and wildlife a more natural enviornment. There are lots of different fruit trees most of which ripen in late August and into September. This of course is a wonderful time to come! Thanks again and we hope to see you in Begur in the not too distant future.

Maison mal entretenue

  • 2 of 5

We manage the property for the owners and fully agree that last year this villa was not as good as it could have been. In fact it was a little 'tired'. Having discussed at length your complaint with the owners they agreed to overhaul and update the house over the winter. Villa Bethel I am happy to say has had a facelift. Painted inside and out, new bathrooms, new bedroom furniture, fixtures and fittings in the master bedroom, new outside furniture with a sail for shade rather than an umbrella, new gas BBQ. We think the owners have done a great job and know that anyone who chooses to stay there now will find a very different standard of accommodation. It is an ideal choice for families with children with lots of space to run around, play ball and is close to the beach at Tamariu. I don't think now if anyone were to chose this villa they would be disappointed.
