General information about the area.
In Sicily, Villa of olives in Sicily at 35 minutes from Palermo (55 km), at about than 18 minutes away from Cefalù (15 km) and its magnificent architectural beauties and at less than 4 mis from Campofelice di Roccella and its magnificent white sandy beaches
Cefalù is set on the northern coast, 75 kilometres east of Palermo, from which it is about forty-five minutes by car, a bit longer by train. Cefalù is a picturesque medieval fishing village that enjoys a splendid position between the sea and a rocky promontory (Rocca of Cefalù). Cefalù is a built on the site of an ancient Sican an Greek settlement. The town saw its maximum development under the Norman King Roger II, The town nowadays is divided in two parts an old part that is mainly for pedestrians and has many nice little boutiques, shops and restaurants, and a new modern part.
The old town centre is dominated by the cathedral. According to tradition the cathedral and the adjoining abbey and cloister, the building was erected after a vow made to the Holy Saviour by the King of Sicily, Roger II, after he escaped from a storm to land on the citys beach. The building was started in 1131. Imposing and attractive, the cathedral is a synthesis of several cultures. It was built by Norman architects and Arabic craftsmen, conditioned by Byzantine models. The interior is dominated by the solemn rhythm of the colonnade and by the image of Christ Pantocrator : a breathtaking mosaic dating back to 1138 on a gold background dominating the apse, above the Madonna, archangels and Apostles.
Mandralisca Museum is also surely worth seeing. Mandralisca, next to the cathedral square, is famous for its library, containing about 6,000 antique volumes, for its numismatic collection and especially for the paint “Portrait of an Unknown Man” by Antonello da Messina, one of the most famous painters of the European fifteenth century. A Saracen wash-house, the Lavatoio is another sight worth seeing, as is the medieval Osterio Magno, the remaining part of a large 13th-century palace. In any case, the whole old town is worth visiting to admire the picturesque and charming alleys and medieval buildings.
Around Cefalù, places of interest include the Sanctuary of Gibilmanna - a hillside pilgrimage destination-, the ruins of Greek Himera, the Natural Park of Madonie mountains and Castelbuono - a mountain medieval town about 25 kilometres from Cefalù famous for the castle once owned by the Ventimiglia family, feudal lords of several towns in the area-.
Finally, Cefalù is famous as touristic site also for its magnificent white sandy beaches. The main sandy beach is in front of Cefalù and it’s called “lungomare”. There, it’s possible to find many different lidos that offer sun beds and umbrellas, as well as public beaches where you can stay for free. Lungomare is mainly a tourist beach and is very safe and strongly recommended for families with children.
Thanks to its strategic location, the villa is any case perfect for sea and nature lovers, the best place to relax, explore and discover the various natural beauties, art heritage and magnificent sceneries that West Sicily is able to offer you.

Séjour de deux familles de 5 personnes.
Nous avons passé un très bon séjour sejour dans la villa qui est spacieuse et confortable, conforme à la description . La piscine est trés agreable et propre . La maison est très bien située pour visiter les beaux siciliens.
Accueil chaleureux.
The property is in very quiet and tranquil place, set in a largely agricultural area with fantastic views down towards the sea. The house is comfortable and fairly well equipped but could do with some up-dating and attention to detail. There were comfortable beds and hot water upstairs but unfortunately only cool water downstairs. The pool was well kept and maintained, refreshing water after a warm day but there again it was October! there is quite a long bumpy track to the house so manageable with care. We enjoyed the peace and quiet after a day sightseeing and it became a peaceful base to come home to. Siciliy in general we enjoyed visiting interesting sites and beautiful places but the driving is something else - he who hesitates is lost.
Having returned from a really wonderful holiday in Villa of Olives, we are already looking forward to our return next year. We would recommend this Villa to anyone looking for a place to suit all needs. Myself and my wife, together with our two young children found,on our arrival a Villa which matched exactly what previous reviews had said.
It's location was ideal for exploring the Western Coast of Sicily[Cefalù, Palermo, The Madonie park area].The Villa itself had everything one would hope to find and the very generous welcome pack was very welcome.Indeed Gianni, our host, was extremely helpful throughout our stay giving the advice and help which makes all holidays so relaxing.
The pool area was perfectly situated for relaxing days. The bedrooms were spotlessly clean and airy. The kitchen was very well stocked on our arrival and had all the necessary appliances. In many ways the numerous outside dining areas were the best part of the Villa.
The nearby villages of Campofelice and especially Collesano ( a little gem and a lovely place to enjoy evening strolls) were very nice and we spent several nights in some of the several restaurants nearby. We went several times to Cefalù. A gem, a small medivial village set in front a very long white sandy beach.
We would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending Paolo and the Villa to anyone looking for a great place to stay nearby Cefalù.
This is an absolutely lovely villa, well maintained . We arrived very late at night and after the scheduled arrival time but were given a warm welcome with provisions to keep us going until we could get to the shops. The place easily housed the 7 of us (4 adults and 3 children). The house is lovely and cool. The pool is fvery nice and the kids loved the diving board, even the 3 year old unfortunately! There is nothing much to Campofelice the village below the villa but there are beaches close by. But ina nay case the village is full of small shops and also verybig supermarket. We liked especially Conad. Up the hill is a picturesque village called Collessano where we had a fantastic meal . There are lots of places to visit from here but if you just wanted to relax by the pool and do nothing much else the villa is a great place to do it. We also higly raccomend a visit to Cefalù a charming medieval village at 13 minutes driving. Cefalù is a great place also for the beach: beautiful sea.
I rented the villa with my family (5 adults and 4 kids age 9,7,5 and 3).
The villa exceeded our expectations. Beautiful country. enchanting sea and country views. We appreciated very much barbecue area. The common areas in the house was fine and well equipped. The bedrooms are located on two floors.
Gianni was very nice and suggested as several idea for trips bearby villa.
We can highly recommend this villa.
Our company of two families (4 adults and 5 children) went in Villa of Olives in Sicily inmay 2012. The villa is extremely spacious. The villa was ideal for two families.
The pictures on the website don't do justice to the villa. Everything is even better. The pool is big and has stairs on the other end which make it very good for children. The sea and the country review are really nice. The garden surrounding the villa is charming too. There is a nice barbecue area at the back of the villa. Always in the back there is dishwasher and washing machine. It was very useful for us dishwasher. We had dinner alway at the villa expect the night before we left the villa. We were in holiday and so my wife did not have to clean for such a large group. The beds are good and the property was clean.
The owner of the house is extremely kind and nice. She took care of our every need. We couldn't have asked for a more knowledgeable and nicer person to deal with. Our warmest thanks to Gianni for your excellent service and friendliness!
We spent two weeks in the villa in the easter holidays. The location is really stunning, in the middle of nature, you are completely by yourself. You can walk in all the directions without fences which is unusual for italy. The house is as described, we missed a few things in the kitchen but nothing that took away fun from the holidays. FYI the 4 bed bedroom is on the ground floor and the other three bedrooms are in the first floor. The week in march was a bit cold and windy, but the first week of april was perfect for beach vacation, without too much heat. We were in the house with two families, 4 adults and 6 children from ages 2 to 11, they all found something to play all the time, it was perfect. When they were playing outside we used to put a few lawn chairs in front of the entrance of the pool area which they respected, so we didn't have to watch them every second. Giovanni was very helpful and did everything that we had a great holiday. Would definitely recommend for everyone.
The villa is set at 5 km form the exit of highway Buonfornello from where you can easily reach Highway A19 (Palermo Catania) and A 20 Palermo Messina. So it is set in a strategical location to visit several different area of Sicily. The villa is at less 12 km from Cefalù (charming medieval village famous for its Cathedral and white sandy beach). Cefalu is the nicest village in the area. At 6 km from Cefalù (6 km from the villa) there is also a beautiful WATERPARK. A must is a visit to Colessano (10 km from the villa) a small village with an old castle, and 80 churches. A must also a visit to Castelbuono (25 km form the villa) a very nice village with an old castle, famous for mushrooms restaurant and the beautiful forest that surround the village.
For lover of shopping near (Enna) at less than 1 hour there is the biggest outlet of Sicily. There you can find the best Italian fashion brand!!!
