On the edge of glorious countryside but just ten minutes walk to the bars, shops and stunning architecture and parks of Buxton!

Considerable recent updating gives visitors to Wellwood Lodge a superior self-catering experience for 12 people in the beautiful spa town of Buxton and the stunning Peak District beyond. 2 additional people may stay for a small extra premium plus 2 travel cots.

A bespoke handcrafted oak staircase rises through the heart of the house to the six spacious bedrooms one of which is a stunning 4 poster room with en suite. There are 4 bath / shower rooms in total.

A huge (31 ft) 9.5 metres lounge offers a wonderful space for entertaining. Wi-fi is accessible throughout the property. This room has undergone a considerable makeover in 2017 which cannot fail to wow you.

The fully-fitted and exceptionally well equipped kitchen leads to a Victorian-style conservatory and a dining room with an 8 foot square table that seats 12 to 14.

It is the perfect house and location for family and friends gatherings.

Countryside forms the backdrop and far reaching views are from the front windows. A short walk from the house takes you to heather moorlands, woods and wetlands.

Buxton's vibrant and cosmopolitan town centre is just 10 minutes on foot.

The house is on a hillside with front and enclosed rear garden with a small lawn. For a small fee we allow owners to bring their well behaved dogs to enjoy their holiday too.

Buxton's beauty is a popular choice for weddings, the house is in walking distance of the Palace Hotel, Old Hall Hotel, Devonshire Dome and Pavilion Gardens, all popular reception venues. We have had brides leave from our door for their big day, families delighted to have a venue where they can relax informally together without the constraints of a hotel.

I will personally welcome my visitors and endeavor to point you in the direction of essential things to do and see.

As a resident since childhood I am an enthusiast of my beautiful town, the specialist shops within the Cavendish arcade the former spa bathing area, the extensive choice of places to sample the local gastronomic delights, the wonderful Opera house and the stunning Pooles cavern which is rated as England's finest show cavern are just a few of the highlights. The beautifully kept 23 acre Pavilion gardens is a wonderful place for all ages to enjoy a fun filled time.

The Property Comprises:

• Ground Floor: Very spacious lounge, with coal effect gas fire, 42 inch TV, DVD player, iPod & iPhone compatible docking Speaker, CD and radio player, leather lounge seating for everyone to sit in comfort.

•Dining room, seating for 12 - 14 around a huge square table, graced with elegant white contemporary crockery. Additionally a 32 inch lazy Susan adds to the fun of reaching your condiments etc.

The well equipped kitchen has ample work surfaces and storage, an electric Neff oven, grill and microwave, a range style 6 burner gas hob and 2 electric ovens with grills, dishwasher and fridge/freezer. There are pots, pans, a Kenwood chef, Kenwood commercial food processor and every utensil to make light work of food preparation.

The kitchen leads through to the Victorian style conservatory with sitting area and door to rear garden.

• The house is approached by an inclined path with hand rail. The double garage roof serves as a morning sun patio. The rear garden is fully enclosed, chipping base patio with tables and chairs, 3 steps to lawned area of approx 60 sq metres and shrub borders at a slightly elevated level.

Formerly our family home which my parents left to do bed and breakfast in Buxton. For 23 years it has been let out to visitors, myself taking charge of the business in 2010.

Lovely house for our family get together to celebrate a birthday. All eleven of us were very comfortable during our stay here finding itvery spacious and well equipped. Buxton is beautiful and full of character, our visit to yhe Pavillion gardens and the wonderful sound of the brass band deserve a special mention.

Built on the River Wye, and overlooked by Axe Edge Moor, Buxton has a history as a spa town due to its geothermal spring which rises at a constant temperature of 28 °C. The spring waters are piped to St Ann's Well on the historic Georgian Crescent where anyone can take the water

Buxton is the highest market town in England, holding markets on Tuesdays and Saturdays throughout the year.

The beautiful Pavilion Gardens are enjoyed by residents and visitors alike. The combination of walks, lakes, water fowl, play areas and miniature train ensure that they remain a firm favourite with the whole family.

You may also like to consider indulging in spa treatment therapy at the nearby Devonshire Dome within the University buildings. It is one of the most dramatic spaces in Britain and the largest unsupported dome in Europe. Built in 1779 by the 5th Duke of Devonshire, this magnificent grade II* listed building has dominated the Buxton sky line ever since, open to the public at most times to gaze in awe at the internal dome and listen to the acoustics over a cup of coffee perhaps.

Indulge in a little retail therapy at the specialist shops within the Cavendish arcade, the former spa bathing area. There is an extensive choice of places to eat to suit all tastes and pockets.

The wonderful Opera house a salute to Frank Matcham's inspiration in 1903 delivers a varied programme of drama, concerts, stand up comedians and more throughout the year.

Pooles Cavern & Buxton Country Park.

This magnificent natural cavern features spectacular stalactites and crystal formations. Regular guided tours take you through spacious, well lit chambers where you will be introduced to Derbyshires largest stalactite and the unique poached egg stalagmites, it is rated as England's finest show cavern. The surrounding Country Park features woodland trails up to Solomon's temple, stunning 360 degree panoramic views are well worth the climb!

With the gathering fame and quality of its summer festival and the new development surrounding the re-opening of the pump rooms and Crescent these are exciting times for local and visitor alike.

From Buxton the A6 and A515 roads take you quickly and scenically to the pretty towns of Bakewell and Ashbourne, and to Chatsworth, the seat of the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire, and Haddon Hall, a marvelous Elizabethan house. For those with a real love of country houses, you can reach the superb Hardwick Hall near Chesterfield in about an hour. Lovely Kedleston Hall near Derby is also well worth a visit and is reachable in just under an hour. For those with a passion for industrial history, the World Heritage town of Cromford, the birthplace of Britain’s industrial revolution is only a 40 minute drive away.

To the west is Lyme park famed for its filming of Pride and Prejudice, Little Moreton Hall, Tatton Park and Dunham Massey all splendid examples of National Trust properties in East Cheshire.

Peak district country side is ever changing, pretty river valleys give way to high crags and escarpments, beauty in every direction.

Walking costs nothing and this stunning area brings such delight with its very varied scenery within short distances where rugged moors and pretty dales offer an abundance of activities from rambling, hiking, cycling, climbing, caving and fishing.
