About Curt Riesberg
Born and raised in Minnesota. U of M graduate. Currently, I'm a college professor working in California, but it's nice to enjoy my native lake country when I can.
Curt Riesberg purchased this Cabin in 2016
Why Curt Riesberg chose South Haven
Awesome, close to the water, fully equipped. "In the woods, on a lake" and yet very close to Twin Cities and only twenty-five minutes from St. Cloud. Huge windows with beautiful water views. Big screened porch overlooks water. Vaulted ceilings. Quiet. Quiet lake with good fishing, even right from the dock! Loons!
What makes this Cabin unique
Well,... so many to list. You just have to see the place in person. Incredible water views. Close to cities and amenities and golf. End of a private road. Just beautiful.

Cozy cabin, right by the water
Nice relaxing two night trip. Weather was beautiful Friday and spent time on the kayaks and on the front porch. Rainy and cold Saturday, but walked through nearby Stanley Eddy park which has very nice wooded walking trails.
Nice private, cozy setting by the lake
Had a few days of rain, but the large screened porch allowed us to be outside and enjoy the lake environment. Saw eagles, otter and lots of fish being caught. Except for the last day and a half, we were the only people in the area so really enjoyed the quiet and solitude. Temps got a little low at night but the cabin was quite comfortable and there was lots of hot water. TV reception was spotty, however, you will find an amazing dvd collection of movies and tv shows to fulfill your needs. Had one small problem, but even though the owner was out of town he responded quickly and helped us find a solution. Lots of lakes and quaint small towns around the area, and St. Cloud is a short drive away to satisfy all your big city dining, shopping or entertainment needs. Try the local wineries for some great drinks and local meat markets for a variety of sausage, jerky and cheeses. All in all a great rental for a weekend or a week.
Perfect getaway, in a perfect cabin, on a perfect lake!
Did a romantic getaway weekend, and couldn't be happier with the whole experience. From visiting S.O.B. in Kimball to catching a 5 lb bass off the dock. We were sad to leave. Curt had everything we could have needed (no floating jig heads, but found those in town). Everyone around the lake were very friendly. A great community. We now are looking for a place on the lake. Until then, we hope to return multiple times every year.
Super cute little cabin on a beautiful lake!
Nice and cozy. Can't beat the view and the remoteness of the cabin. Had about everything we needed. Bed was comfy and loved the screened in porch!
Very cozy lake cottage tucked away at the end of the road. Very quiet and peaceful. Fully equipped kitchen with everything you would need. A newer Weber gas grill is available as well. The queen size bed is a sleep number so getting a good nights sleep is not a problem. Kimball, MN is just a couple miles down the road and has a nice grocery store and adult beverage dispensary next door. Curt had an exhaustive list of good restaurants in the area posted but we did not venture out. We would definitely consider staying here again if we find ourselves in this area again.
Awesome calming retreat
The screened-in porch is magical. We watched both the sun and moon rise from this porch, under quilts on the wicker couch. The bed is great, the kitchen has everything you need. This is the perfect spot for a cozy retreat.
The ONLY downside for us was my fault: I didn't pay enough attention to the fact that there is no swimming beach--which made things a bit tough with a toddler. But for folks without kids, or kids who would rather fish or canoe, this place is perfect.
Laundry facilities on premises. Nearby to Annandale. Nearby to St. Cloud. Any "forgotten groceries" or liquor store or other personal supplies are close, 2 miles only. Guest fishing rods and some lures are available; bring your own live bait, though, if you want to use it, or dig up some worms in the woods. Be sure to have your fishing license, though. Canoe and life vests are available to use. A variety of nice golf courses, in addition to Kimball and Whispering Pines are available.
