About the property

Cabin, 3 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, (Beds for 12, but limited to groups of 10)

Nice 3B home with a TERRIFIC setting in the woods and surrounded by nature, but still only 2 1/2 miles from the slopes, one mile from the Country Club and one mile from Monte Verde lake. Take a look at the VIDEO I have now added to the VRBO listing.

MAKE SURE AND CHECK OUT MY OTHER PROPERTY - MOUNTAIN VIEW CONDO(VRBO #46963).

The Cabin is nestled in the woods and surrounded by nature, but still close to everything in Angel Fire and easily accessible year-round. Wifi is available at the Cabin in the Woods. See my personal website for details. New Queen mattresses and box springs in the the downstairs guest bedroom and master bedroom and also new living room furniture (there is no longer a hide-a-bed sofa in the living room).

There is a covered porch across the entire front of the house, which is a great place to sit and enjoy the cool and refreshing mountain air. The home is located one mile from the golf clubhouse, one mile from the lake and 2 1/2 miles from the ski slopes or grocery store. This New Mexico vacation rental is close to everything, but situated in the woods, where you feel like you have your own private place on the mountain.

This three bedroom, two bath house that has beds for 12, but please limit your group to 10. The accommodations are great for two families, because there are separate bedrooms for both couples and then the kids can share the bunk bed room, which sleeps six. Visit my personal website (link below) for more details on the sleeping arrangements.

On the downstairs level, you will find the living area, kitchen, dining area, two bedrooms, and a full bath. In the living room, there is a sofa (no longer a hide-a-bed sofa), loveseat, leather chair and a wood-burning fireplace. The entertainment center includes a 32 inch flat screen TV with DISH Network, DVD, and stereo system. A variety of DVD movies (over 30) are provided, but please feel free to bring your own. The kitchen is furnished with everything you will need and is open to the dining area that seats eight at the table, with a set of TV trays, also available for additional guests. There is also a gas BBQ grill outside (not accessible during the winter) if you would like to cook up some hamburgers or steaks.

The front bedroom has a twin/twin bunk bed and a full/full bunk bed, that will sleep a total of six. In addition, there is a four drawer chest, a 20 inch TV with DISH Network and a Playstation 2 game system. There are about eight PS2 games provided. The rear bedroom, which has great views of the outdoors, has a queen bed (new mattress and box springs in July 2015), dresser and a 20 inch TV with satellite. Also downstairs is a bathroom and a full size washer and dryer.

The master suite is located privately upstairs and is furnished with a queen bed (new mattress and box spring in July 2015), armoire, dresser with mirror, 20 inch TV with DISH Network, DVD player and a futon that sleeps two, just in case the younger kids would rather stay in the same room with mom and dad. Also upstairs is a full bath, large walk-in closet and a sliding glass door that leads to a private balcony off of the master suite.

Guestbook comments from the owner

The Cabin in the Woods has only been available for rent since November of 2006, so there aren't any guestbook entries yet. Hopefully with the many pictures on my personal website you can see that I have tried to furnish the house so it will feel like your own home. Wonderful and relaxing

  • 5 of 5

Angel Fire's Cabin in the Woods is wonderful and relaxing; there is something for every one to do. The cabin is well equipped with everything you need. I enjoyed sitting on the big porch watching deer and elk graze in the front yard. Birds and squirrels flew and ran all over the place. The cabin had plenty of utensils, dishes and cooking pans. I will probably be returning next year since this is the best rental place I have ever found. Thanks to Greg for renting his cabin. I spent most of my morning and afternoons fishing at Eagle Nest Lake. I caught some of the largest trout ever this year. We also enjoy driving the Enchanted Circle, stopping at the fish hatchery, D. H. Lawrence's ranch, the Vietnam Memorial, and shopping in Red River and Taos, where the Kit Carson museum is located.

All The Comforts of Home!

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay at Cabin in the Woods. We were traveling with another couple and found the cabin to be well equipped and very comfortable with room to spare. We enjoyed a lot of time just sitting on the porch enjoying the cool air and the beautiful area.

We will definitely stay here again when visiting Angel Fire!

Cabin in The Woods

  • 5 of 5

Our stay was fabulous! House was very comfortable and provided everything we needed. Wildlife viewing out the windows was great! Deer passing through every morning and evening. We had 7 staying in the house, ages from 5 -62. Everyone enjoyed! Only less than positive comment is cookware needs to be replaced.

Owner's Response: Thanks so much for your review. I have been looking for cookware to withstand the "rental wear and tear". I originally bought some Calphalon cookware, but found that guest didn't take the care needed. I plan to replace the cookware this summer and hopefully I will find something that will withstand the use of guests of all levels of care.

wonderful wintertime

  • 5 of 5

So sorry for the late posting. VRBO no longer titles the listing as "cabin in the woods". It was so snowy durming our visit that I didn't recognize the picture. We had 6 adults & 3 preschool aged children. It was large enough for children to play but just the right size to be cozy. We were able to put a gate across the bottom of the stairs & the bedroom door at the top locked. This made it extremely kid friendly for our grandson with special needs.

It was our family ski weekend & the cabin was great.

FYI we have a non skier in our group so 2 men went snowmobiling with Angel Fire Excursions 1 morning. They had a great time, but it was a physical workout. Those machines are more like riding dirt bikes than riding in a 4 wheeler..

We'll stay here anytime we can. Oh yes, we saw several deer more than once.

Cabin in the Woods

  • 5 of 5

I have rented this cabin the past two years in July for a golf outing. The location is great and the cabin fits all of our needs. The cabin is clean and orderly and the decor is up to date. I plan to rent it again next summer.

The only recommendation I would have is to change the bunk beds in the 3rd bedroom to a double or queen bed and a double bunk instead of 3 bunk beds.

Peaceful Time

  • 5 of 5

The cabin and area was very peaceful and quiet. The first morning we were there we were awaken at about 6:30 with the bugling of an elk. I got up quickly and opened the curtain to see the biggest bull elk and his harem. We saw deer everyday in the yard. We particularly liked the doe and her two fawns that visited us daily. The cabin is well stocked with food and spices. There are plenty of dishes and appliances. The cabin is located back from the main road, so it is quiet. There is plenty of parking space, and it is easy to get in the cabin. We enjoyed sitting on the big porch watching the birds and squirrels. We enjoyed fishing at Monte Verde Lake and Eagle Nest Lake, where we caught a lot of fish. We took trips to Red River, Taos, and followed the Enchanted Circle for a historical journey. We really enjoyed our stay even though we had to cut our stay short two weeks because of an emergency at home. I would highly recommend this cabin to anyone.
