Villa Belvedere is an architect designed villa with stunning views across the whole southern end of lake Garda. The view alone is worth the rental as you will not tire of sitting on the terrace with a glass of wine watching the sun set across the lake.
The villa was built by a well know local builder as his home and no expense was spared on the construction. Local marble, combine with exposed beams and local stone to provide a modern villa with Italian charm.
The house offers total privacy, entry to the grounds is via a security gate. You enter the house via the ground floor front door or up the feature marble stair case which winds around an established olive tree. To maximise the view the bedrooms are on the ground floor and the living accommodation is on the first floor. The master bedroom comprises a huge double bed, panoramic window with lake view, ensuite dressing room and bathroom and air conditioning. The second bedroom has a large double bed, en suite dressing room and access to the pool terrace via patio doors. The family room has double be plus bunk beds plus lake view. these two rooms share the large bathroom with corner bath and steam shower. the forth bedroom has double bed and en suite shower room.
The first floor living area is accessed via a feature marble staircase which brings you in to the dining area with large dining table, open fire and panoramic views of the lake. To one side of the dining room is the lounge with large satellite TV and comfy leather sofas and fantastic lake views. The kitchen is off the dining room and has central island with sink, dishwasher, microwave, oven and gas hob. Nigel and Wendy live in Kent where they run a holiday cottage business They both grew up in Kent but have a great affinity with Lake Garda and Italy.
Nigel and Wendy Griffiths purchased this villa in 2007
We like to travel and always said we would not return to the same place twice. After visiting lake Garda 5 years in a row we felt there must be a connection and when the opportunity arose we purchased this beautiful villa, with a view to enjoying it for our own holidays and future retirement. We did a number of trips to find the right location and right property, we wanted something that offered rustic charm, stunning lake views around Salo. Having stayed on all sides of the Lake Salo is our favourite town, as it is not just a holiday destination, so shops bars and restaurants are open all year.
Fantastic views. Peaceful location at the end of a no through road with a forest behind it . Salo is probably the nicest town on the lake and is not just for tourists. There is so much to do on Lake Garda, from water sports to golf or site seeing, Skiing for a day or two in winter is a nice perk.
This is a beautiful villa and they really have thought of everything. The Villa has been finished to a very high standard and whatever one of the four bedrooms you end up staying in you wont be disappointed (felt more like staying in a luxury hotel!). I can imagine that this would be great for families, and that kids would love it, however we were lucky enough to have the whole place to ourselves and sitting on the outdoor patio looking out over the amazing Vista of Lake Garda with a bottle (or two) of Bardolini (the local red) made for an unforgettable experience - highly recommended!
Wow...A beautiful property if it's about location then it's got IT too
We spent a week at this property. The views are stunning - both during the day & at night. We were a party of 7 and there was plenty of room for us. The pool is a great asset and our party spent a lot of time in it. We're cricket fans and having SKY Sports meant we could see a couple of England ODI & 20/20 games which were on. There is also wi-fi - a must for all of our party. The villa is approx a 10 minute drive from Salo, which is lovely small town and on the ferry route for boats around Lake Garda. There is a good supermarket in Salo too - Italmarkt. We recommend this property to family groups/groups of friends.
We spent a week with our friends (six persons and two babies each one year old) in this beautiful location. We can recommend it to families or groups up to six persons and would go there again.
We mostly enjoyed having breakfast or lunch on the kitchen balcony with a fantastic view over the lake panorama.
The nearest supermarket is situated in villanuova sul clisi (italmark) which is only some five minutes car drive away and provides everything you need.
Salo is a beautiful town on Lake Garda with lovely shops, restaurants and ice cream parlours! We spent a week at the villa, 5 adults and 1 child. There was plenty of room for us all to live comfortably. The villa has stunning views over Lake Garda and is in a safe residential area of individual villas. The villa has everything you need for Al fresco dining with a good choice of excellent supermarkets near by. The management company are very helpful should you need them. You do need a car but getting around Lake Garda is easy and picturesque and a trip to Verona is not to be missed! We all really enjoyed our time there.
We had a wonderful time in the villa, with stunning views morning and night, a little off the beaten path but that suited us fine. We had some items bought for us before we arrived so we didnt have to panic about getting last minute supplies. The overall equipment and facilities are excellent, however we were a little disappointed that the jacuzzi bath, steam shower and 2 of the shower doors were broken. We reported them and they had been broken for quite some time apparently. This wasn't made clear before we arrived. Overall this didnt stop us from having a wonderful time though, guess this is normal wear and tear on such a popular villa.
It was fairly good for visiting all the local sights and fairly straight forward to find although we used a combination of the sat nav and the directions given to be sure.
The pool was used most days as we were very lucky with the weather but the water was a little cold at the end of the season (September) so not for any of you who expect super warm tropical water.
The owners and the caretakers were available at the drop of a hat and this was greatly appreciated.
Lake Garda is one of the most beautiful and picturesque areas of northern Italy. Create by glacial erosion it stretches from the mountains in its northern tip to the flat plains in the south. It provides an ideal location for a holiday. The gleaming pure fresh water of the lake combined with the unique Italian culture and architecture provide something for every member of the family.
Every town around the lake has its own unique history, geography and feel, a local wine or olive oil here is one that has been grown and pressed within the village, not just one grown around the lake The Italians are passionate about family, love, life and food and their culture providing a unique and friendly atmosphere wherever you go.
There is so much to do around lake Garda, two weeks will simply not be enough time. Exploring all the villages and restaurants takes time, you cannot rush a meal or even morning coffee here, when you are sat beside the glistening lake, watching the locals promenade past and enjoying the banter in the worlds most beautiful language, you just have to take your time and enjoy it.
For the more active hiring a boat for the day is a fun way to explore and a great way to get to our favourite restaurant 'Da Umberto in Brenzone', pull up in to the harbour in your hire boat, enjoy a fine meal in this family run restaurant, (Grandma's Lazagne is to die for!) and the patron and waiters are very friendly. Other water sports available locally is wake boarding with Yoshi (Coach to Italian Champions), wind surfing or sailing or you can catch a ferry to other towns on the lake. Once you swim in the clear fresh water of the lake you will never want to go on a salty sea beach holiday again.
Around Lake Garda are many wineries, lemon and olive groves all well worth exploring. To the south is the city of Verona where you can get tickets to the opera in the Roman arena in summer. Brescia is worth a visit for its shops and Roman ruins and a day trip to Venice by train from Descenzano should not be missed.
Our villa is located on the hillside overlooking the beautiful town of Salo, a beautiful town right on the lake, the lake front is full of cafes and Gelaterias where you can while away the day. It also has a cobbled high street, full of individual boutiques (a shopping paradise for the ladies) and many fine restaurants.
Just along the coast road to the North you come to Gardone Riviera where Winston Churchill took his holidays in the Grand.
To the South is Descenzano with its lively night life and then the town of Sirmione. Built on an island at the Southern end of the lake, cars are not allowed so you walk in to the town across the draw bridge of the castle. The cobbled streets are full of tourists enjoying the shops and the best ice cream parlours anywhere. At the end of the town are the ruins of one of the largest Roman villas in Italy. When you stand on the ruins looking up the lake to the mountains you can see why Catullo built his villa there.
The local produce markets move from town to town on different days providing fresh produce and local wares.
The lake has many fine golf courses, garda golf down the road is home to Italy's new wonder boy Manasero, or Bogliaco Golf offers 9 or 18 holes with great lake views.
If you are visiting in winter then in under 2 hours you can be in Madonna Di Campiglio for a days skiing and there cant be to many places you can wake board one day, ski the next and play golf the next.
