Farmhouse accommodation: Open plan kitchen/dining/living area, furnished with 2 and 3 seater sofa's, English / French TV, wood burning stove and electric radiators, decorated and furnished to a high standard. Small separate 2nd lounge with bed settee. Downstairs shower room, separate toilet and utility room.

Three bedrooms - one double and two twins, bathroom with full suite and separate shower.

The farmhouse is set in large private grounds, to the front is a large south facing courtyard with plenty of room for parking. There is a flower bedecked enclosed area to the front which has a large patio dining set and a gas barbecue, to the left is a raised lawn area with seating under the large pine tree (Pinàbre) which gives shade on those hot summer days. Through in to the children's play area where there are swings, outdoor table tennis, slide and trampoline etc. Walk through the fir trees into the large mowed field which is ideal for football, cricket, volleyball or a evening stroll. We have two barns attached to the farm so there is plenty of room to store your bikes etc.

We also run a 6 pitch camping & caravan site at the rear of Pinàbre, which is ideal for people whom like to invite friends or relatives with tents or caravans to join them on their holiday.

Local village of Plouguenast is only mile away which has all amenities including supermarket, boulanger, post office, banks, hairdresser, bars, small cinema, restaurants, cycle and canoe hire.

About Ann

Hello, My name is Ann, along with my husband Ralph we have lived in Brittany for six years and are very much enjoying the life style and country living. Pinàbre is the name of our farmhouse which we take much pride in. We have decorated and put in updated fittings but have tried to retain the original look of the place, which we liked so much. We pride ourselves on the cleanliness of Pinàbre, so each changeover I personally clean the farmhouse from top to bottom to ensure it sparkles for the next guests. We try to ensure that children enjoy their stay here by providing play equipment, so parents can relax whilst the children play in a safe and secure environment.

Ann purchased this farmhouse in 2006

We bought Pinàbre because of the feel of the place, it just felt like home, the surrounding area feels like a country park we never tire of walking round the area.

Pinàbre is suitable for people whom find it difficult to climb stairs, access to the farmhouse is relatively level (no steps) the small 2nd lounge has a bed settee which can then be used as a bedroom, there is a ground floor shower room and separate toilet. We also run a 6 pitch camping & caravan site at the rear of Pinàbre, which is ideal for people whom like to invite friends or relatives with tents or caravans to join them on their holiday. Wonderful cottage in Brittany

We had a brilliant week's holiday at the Pinabre farmhouse. Ann and Ralph were excellent hosts and the farmhouse was large and very clean and comfortable. The kids loved the garden, which had a trampoline, swings and lots of games. We got lots of use out of the table tennis too table too.

There's lots to do in the surrounding area, with beaches, lakes, historic towns and villages and farm parks all within easy driving distance. I would highly recommend spending a holiday at Pinabre, with or without children.

Perfect Pinabre - we woudn't want to stay any where else!

Our 2nd stay at Pinabre and as lovely as ever. Ralph & Ann are the prefect hosts and couldn't have been more helpful. The stone farmhouse is traditional, comfortable and homely. The adjoining garden is well stocked with games for the children, with ping pong, swing ball etc. The location is hilly and picturesque. The 30 minute walk through delightful countryside to nearby Plouguenast for your breakfast croissants is a joy. Pinabre is perfectly placed for exploring Brittany. The emerald coast is within easy reach with its stunning beaches and coastal walks. Also nearby is the vast Lac de Guerledan which offers canoes and kayaks. We also recommend the yellow electrically-assisted bikes at Josselin for a fun ride along the Nantes Brest Canal starting near the imposing chateau. Thank you Ann & Ralph - we can't wait to return to Pinabre again next year.

Highly recommend

We had chosen this property mainly based on the excellent reviews online and I'm delighted to say it was even better than we had expected! The house is so lovely, really comfortable beds, comfortable sofas, spotlessly clean and it is so well stocked with kitchen equipment and laundry facilities. It really felt like having all of your home comforts on holiday. The TV and wifi worked perfectly and the garden was safe for our three kids, aged 8, 5 and 4, with trampoline, table tennis etc, and we didn't have to be constantly watching them because it's enclosed. The garden is lovely with a great seating area.

The owners Ann and Ralph were so helpful and were nearby if needed. We would absolutely recommend this property. We did a lot of day trips, a return visit to the beach at Carnac - great for kids and also lovely shops and restaurants. We loved St.Malo and Dinard, both such picturesque places, again beautiful architecture, shops and restaurants and the beaches at St. Malo were great for the kids. We also made a much longed for return to Le Mont St Michel which was so worth it. Pinarbe is in a great central location for exploring in all directions. We definitely hope to return!

Peaceful Pinàbre

Our family of 4 had the most wonderful late summer stay in Pinàbre. We felt so at home the moment we walked through the door - Ralph and Ann have restored this Breton Farmhouse beautifully, retaining all of its original character whilst including those essential mod cons such as Wi-Fi and English TV, which our sons greatly appreciated.

Beautifully furnished, clean and spacious, Pinàbre is set in the most peaceful and delightful rural part of central Brittany, yet within easy reach of the coast and many other places of interest. Our trips out included the nearby medieval town of Moncontour, and the beautiful Lac de Guerledan. But you don’t even have to get in your car to enjoy the Breton countryside - we particularly enjoyed walking down to the village boulangerie for our morning baguette and croissants.

The only downside? A week was not enough! We are already looking forward to our next stay. Thank you so much Ralph and Ann for making us feel so welcome.

We stayed in Pinabre in the first week of August 2-16.

The lovely cottage had every thing we needed, offered a lot of privacy and outdoor space. A beautiful garden and terrace for sitting outside, offering places in the sun and in the shade. The gas BBQ was, like all other utensils, well maintained and in perfect condition. We also enjoyed the table tennis table. For younger children there are more game/playing options.

The advert describes the property very well and we found it in really excellent condition.

Ann and Ralph were perfect hosts and it was a pleasure talking to them about places to visit and things to see. We would definitely consider to return, if the opportunity arises.

Pinàbre is situated in north eastern Brittany in the commune of Plouguenast the area has many beautiful walks and bicycle/riding tracks, kayaking and it's just half an hour away from the clean sandy beaches and safe swimming of the Brittany coast. Situated at the heart of a farming community this large friendly village has a good sized supermarket, a pharmacy, doctor, dentist, bank, florist, hairdresser, petrol station, individual shops, restaurants, cycle & canoe hire.

The ancient town of Moncontour with its cobbled streets and amazing architecture is just a ten minute drive away with excellent restaurants – well worth a visit,

Our local town is Loudeac a ten minute drive east - a growing town with excellent road links & many facilities including weekly market, superstores, water park, riding and sporting facilities along side a large forest.

Pinàbre is ideally positioned in central Brittany to visit the areas many tourist attractions.

Lamballe - The main square ‘Place de Martray’ hosts a weekly market on Thursday mornings. Adjoining the square is a branch of the national stud for the Breton workhorses

Pleneuf Val Andre - Picturesque fishing harbour with nearby shops, cafés and casino are well worth a visit.

Sable D’Or offers all you could need for a day at the beach.

Jugon les Lacs - home to a multitude of water sports, fishing, windsurfing, sailing etc.

Binic & Etables-sur-Mer both highly recommended by our guests for the marina and beach.

Lac de Guerledan - situated approximately 25 miles from Pinàbre, this magnificent stretch of water surrounded by trees is one of the finest sights in inland Brittany. Because the lake is over 8 miles long it has been divided up into sections for the various water sports such as sailing, water skiing, jet ski etc. There are three small beaches which offer safe bathing for children.

Abbey de Bon Repos - situated approximately 26 miles from Pinàbre, the remains of this 12th Century Abbey and it's grounds are open to the public. It is situated right on the banks of the Nantes to Brest canal. On a Sunday morning the Abbey hosts the 'artisan market' where you can purchase fresh fruit and produce from the local farmers.

Forges Des Salle - situated approximately 26 miles from Pinàbre, this hamlet is tucked away at the bottom of a wooded valley and was the site of the iron/steel industry in the 18th and 19th Century. Visit the former homes of the workers which are furnished according to their original style. At the top of the terraced pleasure gardens there is a splendid view over the valley and the various stretches of water within it.

Pontivy - situated approximately 23 miles from Pinàbre, the old capital of the Rohan family, Pontivy still has the Chateau which was built during the 15th Century. The old town has narrow winding streets centred around 'Place du Matray'. In contrast the geometrical new town was laid out be Napoleon. Pontivy has many shops and is home to a regular Monday market. The Nantes to Brest Canal runs through Pontivy and is an ideal place for peaceful country walks

Medieval Dinan - Narrow streets, cobbled roads, medieval halftimber houses and shops set the scene. Large weekly market held every Thursday gives the place a great atmosphere. The obscure ‘Port of Dinan’ is well worth discovering for its fine assortment of waterfront restaurants

Pirate port of St Malo – an amazing walled citadel hides a maze of shops, restaurants and bars.

Mont St Michel - a must, steeped in history with breathtaking views from the abbey.

Rennes - the capital for shopping and culture, with a mixture of old and modern is sure to appeal to all tastes.

Numerous local lakes and forests provide plenty of choice for the walking & cycling enthusiast.

Access is so easy via the ferries of St Malo which arrive from Portsmouth, Poole and the Channel Islands or Dinard airport with its regular RyanAir flights. If that's not enough, in easy reach are Roscoff, Brest, Rennes, Nantes, Caen and Cherbourg with a variety of ferries and flights from all over the UK; there are also TGV stations at Rennes and St Brieuc.
