About the property

Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, Laurel Falls will transport you back to a time of rustic luxury and rugged beauty. Built and designed by a Florida craftsman, William Nelson Camp Jr. in 1924 as a mountain summer retreat.

After many years of renovation and revisioning and home to many different residents, Laurel Falls has been creatively modernized and is now available as a vacation retreat rental. In the Beautiful Western North Carolina Mountains this retreat stands out as a unique and preserved property, one that you will never forget.

Spread over 18 acres, Laurel Falls offers 4 traditional craftsman style log residences that will make your family and friends feel at home year round. The property boasts incredible natural features in the landscape, such as creek side water falls, wooded walking trails, dramatic rock outcroppings, native plants and unrivaled mountain views. Each home has its own character and amenities that make Laurel Falls much more than just a place to rest your head.

The Lodge offers sweeping views of the Blue Ridge Mountains, the 5 bedroom Lodge anchors the entire property and has a truly special way of bringing people together. An original stone porch that runs the length of the lodge allows you to watch the sunrise, sit and take in the view, and relax under the stars in the hot tub. Inside, there are 3 original fireplaces. Two are converted to gas and the main living room has a wood burning fireplace. The kitchen has been opened up and modernized with a full size cooks range, perfect for cooking for the crowd. At the back of the lodge enjoy the covered pavilion, which can entertain a band, tables and chairs or just sit and relax and take in the view.

The Carriage House is a comfortable one bedroom apt. which originally, was built above the garage as a cooks kitchen in the 1920's.

Beautifully renovated with a full kitchen, it is a cozy space that also has 2 dramatic boulders near the back patio.

The Chestnut Cabin is nestled amongst rock outcroppings, periwinkle and native plants. The Cabin serves as the gateway to the lower property and gets it name from the original hand hewn chestnut logs that make up the lower half of the building. Enjoy the cozy living room with the wood burning fireplace and upstairs in the lofted bedroom take some time to read and relax in the corner window seat.

The Waterfall Cabin is a private 2 bedroom cabin built by the current owners to complement the natural creek fed water fall and rock grotto, set among native rhododendron. The cabin has a two story deck, with a hot tub area built above the creek. You will feel immersed in nature staying in this comfortable cabin dwelling.

Absolutely LOVED!

  • 5 of 5

This property was the most perfect location for our mountain retreat with spectacular accommodations and views - it had everything we needed and more. We were beyond pleased with all four cottages! It was cozy and breathtaking. I would highly recommend to anyone and we can't wait to go back with more family and friends!

Just as lovely as shown in all the photos, really.

  • 5 of 5

This property is nestled on the mountain so that the views are spectacular or, if you prefer, the waterfall cabin allows access to a lovely trail up the falls or a quiet soak in the hot tub listening to the calming rush of the falls. The grounds are spectacular and served as a lovely backdrop for my daughter's wedding with several options for an outdoor ceremony.

There were ten family members that stayed among the four houses and we were all very comfortable with more than enough room and all the comforts of home.

There are so many good restaurants in Asheville and we settled on Rhubarb for the rehearsal dinner and it was wonderful. Their bakery, Rhu , is also outstanding for baked goods. After the wedding which we had outside, up on the hill, the owner was very helpful arranging for a chef to come and prepare a meal after the ceremony and the kitchen in the lodge and the dining area were spacious and worked well. We also worked with the concierge service to get tickets for some Asheville events.

With Asheville only 13 miles away, Laurel Falls is a wonderful option if you are looking for something more rural, quiet, with less traffic and more nature. We actually had a beautiful wild male turkey visit us on the morning our our departure. He arrived and walked up to the "chapel" and shortly was joined by his female friend. It was a lovely ending to a really perfect 5 day visit.

This was the perfect venue for our 59th Wedding Anniversary. Minutes from downtown Asheville yet secluded, quiet, and peaceful. Plenty of room for all our guests and an overall great experience.

Memory Maker

  • 5 of 5

Great location for our company retreat. It is hard to find a vacation rental with each bedroom having a queen or king size bed. Laurel Falls accommodated 8 couples with plenty of room for all. The Waterfall Cabin was the favorite. Next time we will have to drawn straws for it. Also, we saw wild turkeys everywhere.

Loved our stay at Laurel Falls

  • 5 of 5

We rented all the cabins and lodge. Everyone enjoyed our stay. The views were wonderful and the facilities were very comfortable. We had all we needed for eating in. Asheville was close enough to enjoy. Everything was clean and orderly. Thanks for a great time.
