This magnificent home, in an elevated position is set in a secluded, indigenous private garden with a large covered patio (superb for sundowners) and braai overlooking the salt water, solar heated swimming pool (with child safety net). 4 light filled, spacious bedrooms are all en-suite. The main bedroom boasts a spectacular sea view, it has a private balcony, fireplace (gas), walls of cupboards and wardrobes, private TV, it is luxuriously en-suite with free standing bath and a large double shower. Formal reception room with gas fireplace, leads to balcony and sea views. The second reception room leads to the patio and pool and has a large two sided wood burning fireplace. Other amenities include: Under floor heating throughout. Three fireplaces. Air conditioning to all bedrooms. WIFI ; Telephone line. Built in outdoor BBQ - Wood and Gas. Salt water, solar heated pool. Secluded indigenous garden. High security system and alarm inside the Villa, outdoor beams, camera intercom system. The Villa is serviced daily Monday to Friday. Garden service and pool service weekly. The Villa is beautifully furnished throughout and adorning the walls are a splendid and interesting assortment of original botanical works of art. It is an Entertainers paradise! Maximum occupancy 8 Persons. The Villa is only a few minutes drive to Hout Bay beach, the harbour and village boasting trendy restaurants and many shops. Take the 20 minute drive to downtown Cape Town along the most beautiful coast road drive. The Villa is approached by its own private driveway to some beautiful featured scroll iron gates which are electrically operated and have a fully integrated intercom system which leads to a parking area sufficient for 4 cars. Outside the drive entrance are two further parking spaces which are a premium in this area. We have installed a Borehole ( going to 120m deep) to ensure there is water during the summer months and during restrictions and ensuring our wonderful garden and pool are well serviced and maintained.

About Shaun and Boyana Kramer

I have a lovely husband and two wonderful young daughters Aimee and Scarllett ( 5 and 2 years old). I am a rental agent myself and mostly for short term rentals and work for my family business which is a local agency started by my mother in law Lola, 30 years ago and still going strong with my husband Shaun at the helm with her. We are delighted to have bought Bown Manner from Peter and Jackie who we sold it to at our agency some 13 years ago and have managed it since and enjoy living here every morning, evening and every day.

We love visiting our home in Hout Bay because we are relaxed from the moment we arrive and are already looking forward to returning the day we leave. We love eating out and have found the most amazing restaurants on our doorstep and great value for money. The people of South Africa are some of the nicest we have ever met and have always made us so welcome, it really is our home from home and we adore it as we know everyone else will.

What makes this villa unique

It was love at first sight when we first saw BOWN MANOR, there were no second thoughts we bought it immediately. The location and views in our opinion are amazing, you will not be disappointed. We love to have a sundowner on the patio and watch the amazing sunsets, light the braai and enjoy a BBQ then we quite often have an evening swim in the pool. We each have our cameras at the ready to see who can capture the best sunset. My daughter-in-law is the current winner! Walking around the indigenous garden is also a delight we have enjoyed having it landscaped and choosing each indigenous plant and tree, every year we can't wait to see how well it's doing. Waking up in the morning and seeing the view from our bedroom is so wonderful we look forward to opening the curtains & the patio doors then run back into bed and sit and enjoy the view. We love the open plan design of the house, there is plenty of space for 8 people, everyone can do their own thing or enjoy each others company, we find it very easy going and all our friends and family love it.

Bedroom 3 overlooks the rear garden having double patio windows & a private patio for sunbathing. Bedroom 4 we call the honeymoon suite being serviced by its own separate staircase having access from the centre of the house/entrance hall this room also overlooks the rear garden having double patio windows leading out onto its own patio area.

Bown Manor - A Fantastic Holiday

Landing in Cape Town airport after a 12 hour flight on Virgin Atlantic was the beginning of a wonderful holiday to come.

The drive to Hout Bay was both exciting and picturesque.

As we approached Bown Manor the sight of it was breathtaking.

On entering the property we were greeted with spacious, immaculate and well kept surroundings both inside and out.

The bedrooms were large enough to lounge in and admire the views of the sea and mountainous areas from the balcony or patio.

The downstairs with its extensive amount of space made it easy to relax and do your own thing.

The staff connected to this property were friendly, helpful and we found it reassuring to have them on hand if we needed anything.

The local supermarkets such as Woolworths, Superspar and Checkers stocked everything we needed and much more.

There are many restaurants around offering a wide choice of food, but our favourites became The Food Barn, Mount Nelson and Pakalolo.

A car is essential to appreciate this wonderful area ,we visited Robbin Island, Table Mountain, Cape Point to name but a few places ,the vineyards are an essential visit.

We clocked up over 1500 miles during our 2 week stay and every mile travelled was a pleasure.

This country has so much to offer, we have only scratched the surface of this great place.

We already have ideas of what to next if we return to Bown Manor.

Bown Manor - Luxury Property in Perfect Location

Have returned to this property several times as it meets all our requirements.

Having travelled extensively in this area over several visits and spending more than six months of the past 5 years in South Africa, I have not yet found a more perfect location for our visits than Bown Manor.

The property is located high on the north facing hillside overlooking the town and bay of Hout Bay. As a result of the location the views are spectacular but, unless you enjoy mountaineering , a car is essential. Being north facing the property enjoys the sun later into the evening than the south facing properties. The property is just 25 minutes from Cape Town City centre (via one of the most beautiful coastal roads in the world) and 35 minutes from Cape Town International Airport.. Driving in South Africa is a joy - similar to the UK in the 1960's.

The property is VERY spacious, is well furnished and equipped and is maintained to a very high standard. The owner description on this site gives more details.

One of our favourite pastimes when we visit the Western Cape is Dining Out. The quality, number and variety of Restaurants is truly incredible. Some of our favourites are:-

The Foodbarn, Noordhoek (25 minutes via Chapmans Peak Drive),

Hout Bay Manor Hotel (2minutes),

Kitima (Thai - 5 minutes - especially the Sunday Buffet),

Mariners Wharf (3 minutes - especially the Lobster Thermidor),

Nellies (25 minutes - Afternoon Tea or Sunday Brunch at The Mount Nelson Hotel),

La Colombe, Constantia Valley (20 minutes) *****,

La Grande Roche, Paarl (70 minutes),

Lord Neethlingshof, Stellenbosch (65 minutes).

I am sure that there are many I have forgotten, many to find in the future and many to revisit.. It is very rare that we have been disappointed with eating out in South Africa. We find that the very best Restaurants are located on vineyards.

Then there is the wine............................

Scenic Hout Bay is a vibrant coastal Town with a picturesque harbour surrounded by a majestic mountain range it is one of the most popular places on the Cape Peninsula. Visit Hout Bay Flea Market every Sunday (just minutes from the villa). Visit the working Harbour, take a trip on the glass bottom boat, stroll around Mariners Wharf and enjoy the best fish & chips in the world! Why not educate yourself with a Township Tour of Imizamu Yethu guided by a local for another view on life. Also highly recommended is The World of Birds only a 5 minute drive away. It's a short drive to Table Mountain & for the brave take a helicopter ride over Table Mountain & Cape Point. Robben Island is a favourite (Nelson Mandela) with boats leaving from the V & A Waterfront regularly you could combine this with a not to be missed shopping trip to the V & A & eat in one of the amazing restaurants there (Willoughby's is highly recommended). Also very interesting is the Oceans Aquarium ( children love this too).Drive up Chapmans Peak Drive reputed to be one of the most scenic routes in the world, pull in to one of the recommended scenic points to take photographs and before setting off make a reservation at The Food Barn in Noordhoek for a delicious lunch. Then carry on to Simons Town & Boulder Beach to see the Penguins on the beach! Constantia is a mere 15 mins away. An area of beautiful Wine Farms and Estates, take a Wine Tour & then have lunch you will definitely not be disappointed. If you have something to celebrate then La Colombe at Constantia Uitsig is a world renowned restaurant serving superb food (our favourite). For the footballing fans visit Green Point Stadium which was built for the last World Cup & for the gardeners in the family Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens is not to be missed (reserve at least half a day for this). If you want to go a little further afield have a trip to Stellenbosch (we particularly love Lord Neethlingshof Wine Estate for lunch, eat outside under their majestic oak trees, their wine is very good too!). Don't forget we are on the Wine Route so plan your trips out accordingly. Paarl is another favourite of ours as is Franschhoek. The red open top hop on hop off tourist bus which you will see driving around is also highly recommended and is by far the easiest & most convenient way to discover the thriving metropolis of Cape Town it operates 7 days a week. The Cape of Good Hope and Cape Point is another great day out & witness for yourself where the Atlantic Ocean on the West meets the Indian Ocean on the East (watch out for the baboons!) and catch a glimpse of the ostriches along the way. If you're lucky enough to visit us in November look forward to whale watching. The last time we were staying at Bown Manor in November we were sat having breakfast one morning outside on our verranda when we saw 28 Southern Right Whales in the bay! (my husband counted them) We all jumped in the car and quickly drove down to have a closer look and there they all were with their babies too! What an amazing sight!!! We all felt so privileged....what an unforgettable day...a highly recommended time of year to visit.
