Set Right In The Centre Of A Lovely Village with private, heated pool

WE ARE AN IDEAL LOCATION FOR CYCLING, WALKING AND SIGHTSEEING, INCLUDING THE BRAND NEW LASCAUX 4 JUST 6KM FROM LA GRANGE MIRABELLE. CHECK OUT OUR PRICES FOR JUNE A GREAT MONTH WEATHER WISE BUT WITHOUT THE EXPENSIVE TRAVEL COSTS! But if you want somewhere just to relaxing, it is ideal. The property benefits from central heating throughout, so that whatever time of the year, you are warm and comfortable . A well appointed 3 bedroom 2 bathroom property sleeping up to six people. The ground floor consists of a comfortable family open living space, with separate sitting, dining and kitchen areas. Facilities include satellite TV ( UK free sat ) and a european TNT satelite box with a range of French/German/Spanish TV available for our guests. DVD player and play station 2, with a variety of games. Free Wi FI access. The lounge has comfortable seating for al the family. The kitchen area is fitted with a range of floor and wall cupboards along with Dishwasher, Washing machine, full size electric cooker, microwave, kettle, toaster, coffee maker, and fridge /freezer. There is a full range of crockery, glassware and cooking utensils at your disposal. Hot water is provided by gas, which also services the radiators in the cooler months, (in off peak months there may be an additional charge for heating).

The open plan staircase leads to the first floor which comprises of three good size bedrooms. Bedroom one has a double bed with wardrobe and chest of drawers. This room also has access to an en-suite shower room with shower cubicle, wash basin and wc. Bedroom 2 has two single beds and a chest of drawers and a wardrobe. Bedroom 3 has two single beds with wardrobe and chest of drawers. All bedrooms have additional box storage if needed. The family bathroom comprises of bath with shower above, wash basin and wc. Towels, and bed linen are provided, and changed weekly for those staying longer. NEW for 2018, we can provide you with pool towels at a nominal charge of 2€ each, to give you that little extra space for those special things you want to bring with you for your holiday, just ask on booking.

Outside there are two terraces, the main terrace is of wood decking , with a table, comfortable chairs and tonnelle (canopy) for your comfort. There is also a large charcoal barbecue. The garden area leads directly to the Swimming pool, which is a 10mx5m salt water heated pool with thermal cover ( heated May to the end of September). No chlorine avoids skin irritation or sore eyes. The pool area is fenced, but also has a pool alarm which is to French safety standards. There are loungers for all our guests, and parasols for your comfort in this area.

Local amenities in the village include a childrens play area with picnic tables just 50 metres away and a boulangerie with daily fresh Artisan bread, croissants etc. A family run Ferme Auberge is 1km, with a second good restaurant just a further 1/2 km. There are local markets held in the area every day of the week.

This is an excellent area for both walking and cycling, with many waymarked walks, both from the village and within a twenty minute drive. It can get very hot in July and August so the best months for these activities are May, June, September and October. Cycling from the village is a sheer joy with good roads which are generally quiet, and whether you just want to cycle to a nearby village for a coffee, or do a serious ride then this area is definitely worth considering. The owner is a keen cyclist, so can advise routes for the novice and the serious rider. Off road there are many trails accessed from the village, so no need to take the car. We can provide secure storage for your bikes during your stay, and also advise on bikes available to rent during your stay.

We set out on an adventure and a totally new way of life in 2009, when we discovered 2 stone barns, very much calling out for renovation. Both leaving behind our jobs, we began a 3 year project to make these our home, and are now pleased to be able to share these with others. Why Kay Doney chose La Chapelle-Aubareil

We fell in love with this property purely on it's location, which is beautiful. We intended to buy a house ready to move into with the potential for a Gite for rental. Instead we bought two empty shells, be it they had new windows and roof! For us being right in the centre of the village was important, and the beautiful countryside which surrounds us is a bonus. The village is only small, but we have a small primary school, library, shop and restaurant. We will never cease to be amazed at where we live and the wonderful neighbours we have.

What makes this barn unique

Looking out of the bedroom window in the morning and seeing the sun lighting up the village square, or late at night looking up at the stars sparkling in the night sky is wonderful. No light pollution here. Having our two properties on one site was a real bonus, which has allowed us to be able to share our little piece of French rural life with others, from which we get a great deal of pleasure.

Although the property is well suited for families we do structure our pricing to accommodate smaller groups out of the peak season. A car is recommended as there is no public transport.

A wonderful home in a beautiful part of the world!

There is nothing else we could have wanted during our stay. Well-equipped and pretty home, beautiful pool, comfortable beds, roomy bathrooms with showers, wifi for the kids.... We loved our stay here and highly recommend it. The village is beautiful and being able to buy fresh bread every morning was wonderful. Kay and Glenn are lovely hosts. Not intrusive but helpful when we needed some guidance. One of our best vacations ever!

Great accommodation in a quiet village

Very nice converted barn with a good pool in a well located but quiet village, An easy drive to Lascaux caves, Montignac, Sarlat etc. Very helpful and kind hosts. Recommended.

Fantastic week from start to finish

We have just spent the most amazing week at this fantastic property. This was our first time to this area and it certainly will not be our last. La Grange Mirabelle was just perfect in every way, Kay and Glenn your attention to detail throughout is just fantastic and really is a credit to you both. It was definitely an added bonus to be in the village with a shop offering the most delicious local product, Laura was a delight to see every morning and was always on hand to offer some fantastic advice on all local culinary delights. When we could drag ourselves away from the pool we visited some fantastic local attractions. Two highlights for us were visiting the beautiful medival Sarlat, watching the street entertainers bring the place alive, watching families like us enjoying the atmosphere and the second would be visiting nearby town of Montignac on market day, we loved it!

To summarise, we really couldn't recommend this property or this area enough, we are home with some amazing memories of a fantastic family holiday. Kay and Glenn and not forgetting little Hamish, thank you so much for everything, you made us feel so welcome and we will definitely be back to see you all soon.

Un séjour parfait.

A proximité des principaux sites périgourdins, entre Lascaux et Sarlat, cette petite maison, idéale pour 6 personnes, est à la fois très confortable, bien équipée et très agréable. Elle est située dans un petit village charmant. Les propriétaires sont chaleureux et accueillants. Nous avons passé un excellent séjour.

Our first trip to the region and we were not disappointed. The house is of an excellent standard, well maintained and spotlessly clean. It is situated in an elevated pretty village which is very peaceful and provides beautiful sunsets and fantastic dark night skies. An added bonus is the village shop and freshly cooked pizza from the mobile van on a Saturday evening. Many attractions and the picturesque vllages of the Dordogne valley are within an easy short drive making it a good central location from which to explore.The hot weather allowed us to use the fantastic pool everyday which is much bigger than the picture suggests and probably the best we have had. We found that there is so much to do nearby and lots to keep teenagers entertained - caneoing, lake swimming, chateaux and castles. The area is great for cycling with quiet well maintained roads and tracks but be prepared for hills ! Kay and Glenn provided a warm welcome and are excellent hosts.

A gem of a find!

What a relaxing 2 weeks we just spent here. So pleased we discovered this place to spend our family holiday. Loads of room (we were 5 but it will sleep 6) and a very easy open plan layout downstairs.

The pool was the gem of the place - right in your own garden. High quality and very well maintained. Breakfast on the patio in the sun if you want to. BBQ by the deck in the evening. We couldn't have asked for anything more to complete our holiday.

All the top Dordogne sites are within approximately 30 might mins. drive. Chateaux, Sarlat, local markets, Lasseaux Caves, kayaking, high ropes. It's a superb base to explore the region. Local shop in the village for day to day supplies and the pretty town of Montignac about 15 mins. away which has a variety of restaurants, shops and a couple of supermarkets.

Thanks to Kay and Glenn for a warm welcome and making or stay so enjoyable.

The property is situated in the ever popular Perigord Noir region of the Dordogne between the Dordogne and Vezere rivers. The historical town of Sarlat-la Caneda, with more listed buildings than any other town in Europe is just 20 minutes away, and we are perfectly placed for the most beautiful sites in the Dordogne and Lot.

The area is perfect for both walkers and cyclists with plenty of footpaths and tracks, weaving through forest and countryside affording some superb views. Along with quiet lanes, even at the peak season, you can see something different everyday.

There are numerous Chateaux to visit, caves to explore and pretty market towns to meander through, and wherever you are, you are never to far from good food and wine, or if you prefer coffee and pastries. For the more energetic and adventurous, along with walking and cycling there is quad biking, paragliding, karting, horse riding, water parks, swimming lakes and of course canoing on both the Dordogne and Vezere rivers. So whether you are a family or on your own there is so much to keep you interested.

Sarlat, one of the jewels of France, it is a town not to be missed with its Medieval centre which is full of hidden delights in it's myriad of lanes and alleys, guided walks are available from the Tourist Office. The town bustles especially on market days but take time to sit in a cafe or bar and watch life going on in the way provincial France does best, taking time to chat to friends and being social.

Finding a place to get good food to eat is simple as there are many restaurants and cafes where you can sample food at it's best. One of the best experience's of eating in Sarlat is just wandering through this historic town choosing just the right place for you.

Montignac which straddles the Vezere river is a charming small market town with a cosy and friendly atmosphere. There are many restaurants and bars to relax in. If you are here in the last week of July there is an international music festival which is both colourful and vibrant, with musicians and dancers in traditional costume performing in the streets.

The Vezere Valley is a UNESCO World Heritage site and is renowned for it's many prehistoric sites, including the world famous Lascaux caves, Font de Gaume, Roque St Christophe, a Troglodyte village, along with the array of castles and Chateaux.

The cliff top fortified towns of Beynac, Domme and Castlenaud on the Dordogne river should be experienced. Then there are the many Villages de France in the area all worth a visit.

One trip to make into the Lot is to Rocamadour which is a beautiful town and a pilgrimage for many who believe in the healing powers there. Whilst there, take a trip to the Gouffre de Padirac ,which is stunning, with boat ride through the caves and one of the most popular trips our guests take.
