A delightful seaside retreat perfectly placed opposite Flushing’s charming quayside, this house offers light, spacious family accommodation, stunning views and its own allocated parking space.

Clottage’s name was inspired by gorgeous Cornish clotted cream and, with a comforting feel and fresh, white décor inside and out, it is not difficult to understand why. The owners of this three-bedroomed period property -the second in a pretty terrace of five- have thoughtfully furnished it with a coastal theme to create a sunny, family retreat.

Once through the powder blue front door of this lovely house, a small entrance hall with glass doors leads you in to what is one of Clottage’s best features, its open-plan family living/dining room. This bright room with dual aspect windows has been divided into two distinct areas. Thoughtfully arranged around the impressive picture window at the front of the cottage is a generous seating area with 2 comfy sofas and matching blue armchairs sporting an assortment of cosy cushions in fun fabrics with nautical motifs. A delightful upholstered seat also curves around the window, providing the ideal suntrap in which to sit and count colourful fishing boats or keep an eye on the passenger ferry making its return journey across Penryn river from Falmouth harbour. The owners have provided a TV and DVD for those evenings when you fancy sharing a good film together and the room is also equipped with a stereo and WiFi.

Decorated to match the same light theme as the lounge, with pale wooden floors and fresh white walls, the dining area houses a wooden table and comfortable seating for six. French doors open up this eating area further into a pretty courtyard with white-washed walls, where a wooden table with four chairs has been provided for sunny brunches or candle-lit evening drinks.

In Clottage’s kitchen everything has been provided to ensure that catering on holiday is a stress-free business. The owners have equipped this compact but well-designed room with high quality appliances and a washing machine and tumble dryer have been provided in an outhouse, accessed via the courtyard. This also serves as a useful storage area for the inevitable wet and sandy beach gear which plays a part in every seaside family holiday.

This lovely cottage offers three bedrooms, all located on the upper floor, reached via stairs climbing from the lounge/diner. The master bedroom benefits from a king size bed, magnificent views over the quay and, decorated with white painted walls and pretty fabrics, is a light, calm space. The second bedroom, situated to the rear of the property, does not share the water views, but has a pretty garden aspect and is equally well furnished, boasting comfy twin beds and a built-in wardrobe. The third room is a fun child’s bedroom with bunk beds placed just at the right height for hours of endless fun of boat spotting.

Also on the upper floor is this house’s family bathroom which has been fitted with a modern, white suite of W.C, bath and separate shower and decorated in white with splashes of colour from occasional tasteful picture tiles. Luxury bedding is provided for your comfort, as are a travel cot and a high chair for those holidaying with young children.

This delightful property has many lovely features but its crowning glory has to be its location. For real sea-lovers we can organise boat hire and for those who simply love being close to the action, Clottage is a short walk away from all that Flushing village has to offer. An unbeatable family holiday choice.

Pretty to look at and even better to stay in!

Clottage is very pretty to look at and even better to stay in! We like our holiday accomodation to be `home from home’ and this company did us proud. I have stayed in damp, musty cottages where the kitchen utensils leave a lot to be desired. We now try to choose somewhere which inspires us, where we can truly relax and feel at home, with a little bit of luxury. It also gives us a few ideas for what we would like in our next home. We arrived to find a welcoming vase of flowers and a bottle of wine. I enjoyed sitting at the bay window seat gazing out at the quayside and sketching the view or reading a book.

The cottage was clean, comfortable and stylish and the parking space made our week very easy - we will be back!

Flushing is known to be one of the warmest villages in the UK because it has an idyllic sheltered south-facing aspect. It has quiet streets lined with traditional terraced fisherman’s cottages, and beautiful unspoilt surrounding countryside.

Many Cornish villages have become over crowded with tourists, but Flushing is much quieter, even during peak season, and it still benefits from a strong and vibrant community.

Flushing has two pubs, a stunning waterside restaurant located on the quayside both within stumbling distance and a friendly well-stocked general store. It also has a Sailing Club that welcomes guests, and it’s own dog-friendly beach.

A passenger ferry runs a regular service between Flushing and Falmouth. It also connects with the ferries to St Mawes, Mylor, Trelissick and Truro. In summer the Fal River boats offer trips to the gardens of Trebah and Glendurgan, and onwards to Truro. A local water taxi service also runs around the bay.
