Villa Katia is a 10 minute drive from the beautiful Baroque town of Francavilla Fontana.
The house is set at the end of a private road in the middle of an olive grove. The house and gardens are completely safe and secluded, electric gates take you to the front walled part of the property and driveway. Beyond the walled garden there are a further 9000 sq mts of olive, fruit and almond trees.
Steps lead you to the front terrace where breakfast, lunch or supper can be taken.
The house has 3 bedrooms, a master bedroom with en-suite bathroom, a large double bedroom and a twin bedroom and a large family bathroom
An extra "put you up bed" is available to accommodate a 7th person.
A cot is available free of charge.
The small lounge area has a digital flat screen TV, with satellite, the house also has Wi Fi connectivity,
The lounge area leads into the light, well equipped modern kitchen - dining area with double patio doors leading to the rear terrace and enclosed garden.
There is a play area for children with a swing and slide for little holiday makers !
There are several areas around the property where you can enjoy Al Fresco dining or snooze in hammock in the shade.
From the rear terrace of the house a path takes you through the wonderful olive trees to the swimming pool.
There are sun loungers and table and chairs around the pool and several inflatables for children to have fun in the water.
In and around the garden there are numerous naturally shaded areas, to enable you to enjoy the hot summer days comfortably and remain cool.
We live in Plymouth and have two sons both at University.
We have an Italian delicatessen and cafe called IL Pezzettino here in Plymouth.
So we tend to live and breathe all things Italian, Salvo is Sicilian and Liz is from Bristol !
Salvo & Liz Natale purchased this villa in 2011
After spending several holidays with our family in Puglia we decided to search for a property that would enable us to enjoy the simplicity of rural life and food of this unspoilt region.
Villa Katia (its original name) has been extended and modernised, adding a swimming pool.
The villa has the advantage of being very close to the beautiful Baroque town of Francavilla with all the facilities expected of a modern town, to people watch or 'passegiare' visit shops, bars cafes all things stereotypically associated with Italian lifestyle and at the same time enjoy the peace and tranquility of Villa Katia a short drive away.
The house is in 11,000 sq mts of olive, almond and fruit trees and the only sound you will hear is from the 'cicale'. We love the natural shaded areas dotted all around the gardens provided by the olive trees.
We love the fact that you can land at Brindisi airport and within 40 minutes of picking up your hire car, you can be in the swimming pool !
We love using the wood fired pizza/bread oven and enjoying our own olives and olive oil from our own trees with a glass of local Primitivo !!
Had a fabulous holiday, the pool has been very popular with our girls !
The villa is well equipped which has made our stay so easy, I am sure I've not slept so well as I have here, lovely, comfy beds.
Visited Alberobello and Martina Franca which is a lovely bustling town, especially at night.
The beach at Lido Morelli is a great place, obviously avoid weekends.
Thank you for making our first holiday to Italy, so relaxing.

A 2 week family holiday at Villa Katie, immaculate well maintained villa with a fab large pool and garden area in a quiet location. Pizza oven was great as was the BBQ, Liz and Salvo provided us with a first class customer service and were very friendly. You require a car to get about, we visited the nearby town of Francavilla Fontanta and ate at a few lovely restaurants, also visited Lecce, Aberellio, Taranto, Ustuni and Otranto all of which have different qualities but the food and architecture in any of theses places is lovely. The beaches are clean and reasonably priced if you want to hire sunbeds. We would have no hesitation in recommending this villa.
Spent a fabulous 2 weeks at Villa Katia. The villa is hidden away in a typical Puglian olive grove about 2 miles north of the quaint town of Francavilla Fontana. The villa is very well equipped and the pool and gardens are much bigger than the pictures suggest and I would agree with other visitors that these pictures don't really do full justice to how beautiful and tranquil the setting is. On arrival we were greeted by Giosue who showed us around and the owners Liz and Salvo were always available by phone or text should they be needed. We had days out to Taranto, Porto Cesaro, Lecce, Alberebello, Ostuni and to the many inlet beaches along the Adriatic coast to the north of Brindisi. All these are worth a visit but Alberebello is a particular gem as it is a world heritage site of the famous trulli dwellings. Francavilla Fontana is a place which really grows on you and we spent several evenings amongst the locals sipping coffee and eating the wonderful gelato. We ate at Al Monument, Piccolo Mondo and La Bouna Luna restaurants. Al Monument is a really friendly place and very accommodating and welcoming. La Bouna Luna is a very simple family run pizzeria but all the staff there were really friendly. There also seemed to be so sort of event on as well including a music festival, a religious festival and a talent contest in the main square which was amazing and very professionally run (Francavilla Fontana's Got Talent!!). Overall we had a wonderful time and would highly recommend Villa Katia for place to escape it all!
The villa was exactly as described, the grounds and pool are delightful. The arrival and departure handover was problem free. The welcome pack was more than generous and very welcome after travelling overnight. We ate at the recommend restaurants, we especially enjoyed Arco Olimpio set in a small courtyard. We visited both coasts and probably favoured the West Coast. We travelled south to Otranto and although a long journey it was worth exploring.
The photos on the website does not do justice to your wonderful villa.. It is finished to a very high standard throughout and very clean and homely. The Welcome pack was a great touch especially the local mozzarella, tomatoes and wine The pool is fantastic, the children now have webbed feet as they were in it at every opportunity. Although your'e off the beaten track and surrounded by olive groves, you are only 5 min journey to the bustling Francavilla with its lovely pizza restaurants. A phrase book is a must, but by the end of the week we felt that we were part of the community and our basic Italian had defiantly improved. I would thoroughly recommend this wonderful villa if you fancy some time out from all the hustle and bustle of the tourist spots. Although we never met Salvo he was always an phone call/email away with lots of advice. Thank you for a wonderful holiday.
Firstly I want to point out that this property is much better in reality than the photographs show you and they are very good. The house is very comfortable, modern and well designed, definitely everything you need for a perfect holiday stay. Even down to the fresh basil for your tomatoes, in the garden. The outside spaces, around the house, are beautiful and very relaxing. The pool is located at the end of the wonderful Mediterranean style garden, and is the biggest private pool we have ever had. If you are looking for a place to completely unwind in,with no distractions, plenty of peace and quiet, but with a town full of amenities, practically on your doorstep, then this is for you. I can honestly say that Villa Katia is the nicest holiday villa that we have rented. The small but very well stocked supermarket in Francavilla Fontana has a great selection of local red wine. Try the Negroamaro variety, they are so good. The last thing I want to mention is the lovely people that we met while we were there. They were all so friendly and helpful especially Salvo and Liz who made the process of booking so easy and we on hand, via mobile phone, if we had any problems. If we get the opportunity, we will go back.
We had a great holiday in Villa Katia. The villa was spotless and well equipped. The garden is large and picturesque but the icing on the cake is the pool, which we made great use of.
The area is delightful and a few beaches are easily accessible. We visited a few local towns and enjoyed meals out in some lovely local restaurants.
The owners couldn't have been more helpful and answered any questions we put to them.
We would highly recommend this villa and the surrounding area.
Large shopping mall on the E 90 motorway to/from Brindisi at Mesagne has a large Auchan hypermarket and numerous clothes, shoe shops and food outlets.
Smaller supermarkets can be found in the town along with fresh fruit and vegetable and bakeries can be found on every corner in Francavilla.
There is a huge market on Saturdays selling everything ! Francavilla becomes very busy so beware of traffic congestion.
Taralli and wood fire oven bread can be bought near to the Villa Katia at L'erede, which is on the main road leading to Francavilla.
