An authentic traditional country house on the outskirts of Fornalutx, and a short drive from Soller centre. The finca is located between Soller and Fornalutx, in a lush olive groves area. It's quiet and very private. Birds and sheep live in the property.

The property consist of 2 bedrooms, bathroom, outdoor toilette, fully equipped kitchen with dining area and living room, a/c in both bedrooms and free wifi.

There is a porch with a fantastic al fresco dining area and a second kitchen, and different terraces with stunning mountain views. There is a large swimming pool, umbrellas and sun loungers. Private parking and children playground.

Lovely hideaway in the mountains

This lovely Finca way exceeded our expectations. Whilst the home is only an easy 10 minute walk to the centre of Fornalutx, with its cafes, restaurants, lovely bakery and well-stocked Spar shop, it is completely secluded and peaceful.

The magical gardens have sun from 10 am in the morning through till 7 pm at night (September)

The house is well equipped – it has two small bedrooms and an adequate bathroom. The living area inside is lovely – but it is the outside space with the outside kitchen and many dining and seating areas that makes this place very special.

The pool is fabulous with an amazing backdrop of the mountains.

The house is reached by narrow but easily navigated small road and there is plenty of parking. It is a perfect place for a couple – or for a family with 1-2 children.

Whilst the many attractions of Soller, Port de Soller, Deia, Valdemossa, etc are easily accessible from the Finca – we really did not feel we wanted to leave this beautiful place... other than to buy a few provisions. N.b. the prawns from Soller market are fantastic.

Beautiful villa in an incredible setting

The villa itself was gorgeous and rustic, with a great outdoor kitchen that was well-kitted out with crockery and cutlery. Bedrooms were small but very nice and the livingroom was also lovely, though we spent 90% of our time outdoors in the gorgeous garden. The pool is incredible, extremely clean and in the most stunning setting. We have never stayed anywhere with such an incredible backdrop of mountains - just amazing! The villa is perfectly suited for an outdoor lifestyle, with lots of different seated areas, a double canopy sunbed, a hammock etc. making it easy to relax in all areas of the garden, in sun or shade. The garden was much bigger than we expected and it would be a really perfect spot for a wedding or big event. The town of Fornalutx itself is about 10 minutes walk away along a dirt track, which is quiet and very safe to walk even at night. There is only one shop in Fornalutx (that we could find!) and just a few restaurants, but it is a really beautiful little place. We planned to spend more time in Fornalutx and also visit Soller and the surrounding area, but the villa was so perfect that we ended up spending the majority of our time enjoying it instead! A really wonderful place to stay for a group of friends or a family!

Magical Property

We had a truly memorable stay in this lovely old farmhouse last month and would recommend it to anyone who wants to experience the beauty of Mallorca's north-western area. The property is surrounded by olive groves and has stunning views of the valley of Soller and the mountains. In the evenings, you can hear the sound of sheep bells in the valley and smell sage in the air. It was transporting. Though a very old farmhouse, the property has an updated kitchen. It is tastefully decorated yet not too fancy for families with young children. It is also quite a big place, which was nice! There are are countless beautiful places outside the house, many flowers blooming in profusion. We are a family with three small ones (8, 5 and 3) and the property is ideal for children. They can roam freely from the house into the beautiful old courtyard. The sheep were a source of entertainment--as was the playground and a box of toys the managers thoughtfully provided. Margarita the owner, who came for the pool maintenance, is extremely charming and unobtrusive. We found her to be a great resource for suggestions on dining and activities. Their managers are very helpful too, specially Lena and Kimi who met us on arrival. They even found us a babysitter so my husband and I could go out to dinner one night. The quiet village of Fornalutx-just a short drive or 15 minute walk from the house-is a gem. So much more pleasant than the overbuilt seaside resort towns. In sum, we had a fantastic trip and highly recommend the property.

The villa is very clean and nice, modern with everything you need. It’s tastefully decorated and what a lovely outdoors!! The pool area is beautiful and quiet, a gardener is taking care of everything in a perfect way. Situated very close to the village and not far from the sea, you have a wonderful view from the terraces. Margarita who owns the villa and her manager Biel is very nice and gives quick response to email and phone calls. In advance, they gave us a very good description and information about the house and how to get there. We all had a great holiday in Fornalutx.

5 stars from us! We would love to come back!

Wonderful villa

Just as described, this vacation home overlooks Soller and the mountains in one of the most naturally beautiful areas of Mallorca. Our family enjoyed a week's full of fun and sun. The home has everything needed and the kitchen was well equipped to cook and eat in. You are only minutes away from some of the prettiest villages, Fornalutx, Soller o Port de Soller, each no more than a 10 minute drive. Lots of kids activities at the beach in Port Soller like kayak or boat rentals, and eateries for all. The pictures in this listing don't do the views justice as they are much better in person. If you are looking for a "get away from it all" but yet still be close it all, this house is it!

Equally important was the managers’ responsiveness to all inquires and attention to details, they didn't miss anything.

Fornalutx sits deep in the heart of the Serra de Tramuntana mountain range, in the north-west of the beautiful Mallorca island.

In the past, the isolation of the area by the Sierra de Tramuntana mountain range, necessitated one of the longest jorney times from Palma on the island. However, since the opening of the direct Ma-11 Carretera de Palma al Puerto de Soller road, passing through the 'Túnel de Sóller', journey time has now been cut to a more respectable 40 to 45 minutes.

The geography of the area consists of a spectacular valley, which starts from the Puig Major and descends towards the town of Soller.

The actual village of Fornalutx is considered by many to be one of the best preserved and most beautiful on the whole island.

Because of its appearance and enviable state of conservation, over the years Fornalutx has received several different prizes and awards. In 1983 it was awarded a Silver Plaque for the defence and maintenance of the village, by the Majorcan Tourist Board. The same year the Spanish General Secretary for Tourism awarded Fornalutx another prestigious prize for being the best preserved village in the whole of Spain.

The history of Fornalutx starts over 1,000 years ago, when it was an Arab property – probably a farmstead. After the Catalan conquest of the island in the 13th Century, the population of the area started to grow and a church, which is still standing today, was completed in 1639. Fornalutx was part of the municipality of Soller until 1837, when it gained its independence.

The charm of Fornalutx lies in just how untouched and untainted it is by the modern world – the contrast with Palma and some of the other more developed areas of the island could not be greater. The stone streets and steps of the old centre are just wonderful, carefully adorned as they are with many pots and plants; the doorways of many of the ancient stone houses are left wide open by the locals – although, today, many of them are now second homes or holiday residences.

As you stroll around, be careful to take a look at the eves of the houses where you can see the famous painted tiles, known as 'Arab tiles', which date from the period between the 14th and 19th Centuries. These little works of art are drawings in red on the white background of the roof tiles, which sit under the projecting roofs which extend out over the small houses. The drawings portray a jumble of different things – from plants and animals to people and religious imagery. However, the tiles are not simply decorative - they have symbolic meaning and are said to protect the occupants of the house from bad luck.

The entire village is simply a delight, the streets are so winding and narrow that cars are seldom seen and all the houses are fine examples of traditional Majorcan mountain architecture.

Despite its small size, the village has some nice bars, restaurants and shops. For years the village has attracted artists, many of whom have settled in the area, so keep an eye out for the little galleries that are dotted around the ancient streets.

As you walk around take a look up the mountains to see the lush vegetation on the mountain terraces and the orchards where the famous oranges are grown, reflecting the agricultural heritage of the area, which dominated the economy up until the latter half of the last Century
