Il Gabbiano is only few metres away from one of the quietest beaches in Marsascala. It is located in a quiet residential area and has magnificent and breathtaking unobstructed sea views. Marsaskala is a sea-side village in Malta that has grown up around the small harbour at the head of Marsaskala Bay.
Villa Il Gabbiano is only 5 minutes drive to all amenities, including rocky and sandy beaches in St. Thomas Bay, groceries, shops, markets, restaurants, internet cafes, cinema, gym, churches, wine bars, the St. Thomas fortress and spectacular scenery of the sea and the promenade all lit by night.
Il Gabbiano has a welcoming living area with a spacious open plan layout of a bright airy kitchen overlooking pool area, sun loungers and BBQ.
There are 3 bedrooms, a double with en suite, another double bedroom and triple bedroom with access to terrace. From the terrace, a beautiful panoramic sea views can be enjoyed.
The owners of the villa have been described as very friendly and helpful genuine people.
At Il Gabbiano, guests are treated as family members and given all the attention and assistance through out the holiday. The owners go that extra mile to give its guest a pleasant experience.
Jurgen Cassar purchased this villa in 1995
This property was built for family residential use, with all amenities and commodities and medium size family needs.
It is located in Marsaskala (a.k.a. Wied il-Ghajn) has developed only in recent years from a small fishing village into the popular southern resort it is today.
The harbour is still used by a few fishermen, their colourful Luzzu sharing the moorings with pleasure craft. Life here is centred on the long harbour promenade with its many open-air cafes and restaurants. For much of its past the village was a tranquil backwater, though it has seen its share of the Islands' main historical events. Marsaskala Bay made easy landing for Barbary Corsairs and Ottoman Turks who raided the Islands from the Middle Ages to the late 17th century.
After a large Ottoman fleet landed here in 1614, the Knights set about improving the bay's defences, building the imposing Fort St. Thomas in nearby St. Thomas' Bay. Locals built their own domestic versions. The Mamo Tower on the road to Zejtun, now fully restored, is a fine example of a fortified farmhouse. It was built in a unique shape - the cross of St. Andrew. It is open to the public from Thursday to Sunday from 9am till noon.
While staying at Il Gabbiano you can enjoy the experience of dining outside, on the terrace, with magnificent unobstructed sea and white clay cliffs view or Enjoying the summer breeze while having a BBQ with friends near the pool. Il Gabbiano Holiday Vila has been described as 'one of the best views in Malta' and 'very homely feel' by guests who spent their holiday at Il Gabbiano.
Jürgen and his father were incredibly helpful and accommodating from the time of booking until our departure. They were kind and gracious hosts. The apartment was tastefully decorated and had everything we needed. The patio was roomy and comfortable and easily acccomodated nine adults, while the pool was nice for cooling off or lounging in at the end of the day. There is a beautiful rock beach right outside the apartment with turquoise waters. Wonderful stay and away from all the tourists!
This place is located beautifully with easy access to a rocky shore. And that is about the best part to this object.
The house itself and most of all the equipment in it was very poor. We had to deal with collapsing beds and a broken washing machine and air conditioning. The owner Edmond was friendly and polite about all our complaints but rarely solved an issue.
The kitchen is equipped with really cheap, rusty cutlery which was downright a health hazard and completely warped and dented pans. Edmond was kind enough to give us one of his own pans but left us to deal with the rest of issues.
One of the balcony doors remained locked for half of the stay, so the sea-front access from there wasn't possible. Rather than get the broken lock fixed before our arrival, it was done half way into our stay. The sofa's are literally crumbling (nothing like they look in the pictures)
We asked for the washing to be fixed since we had packed light expecting to be able to wash based on the equipment promised. Edmonds wife however passionately objected, citing the €40 it would cost for a repair man's travel costs. This underscores the general attitude of how this place is run.

First of all i wanna say that Jurgen and the Edmond were very nice and helpful hosts and they had an answer for each of our questions.
The appartement/villa is very spacious and it's also nice decorated and you find there everything you need. The pool was very clean and good for a cool off.
But the highlight of this villa is the large patio where you can enjoy the sunrise with a beautiful view on the sea.
So we only can say thank you Jurgend and Edmond and can recommend Villa Gabbiano.

very helpful owner(edmond). well positioned to reach other parts of the island. close to flat rock beach that is frequented by the locals - always a good sign. local shop a short walk away that has just about everything. very clean property with large rooms and all equipment necessary when you are away on holiday. nice shaded terrace where you can watch the world go by and relax.
The villa was lovely, clean, tidy. Balcony was very spacious, the pool was great to cool off. Sea views to die for. Jurgen and his father Edmond were very welcoming and helpful. Myself and husband had a brilliant honeymoon!!
Das Objekt Il Gabbiano bietet alles, was man wirklich für den angenehmen Urlaub benötigt.
Voll ausgestattet mit allem nötigen Komfort mangelte es uns an nichts. Probleme - sofern überhaupt welche auftraten - wurden vom sehr gastfreundlichen Vermieter sofort und ohne jedwede Komplikationen gelöst. Mögliche Beanstandungen, die hier bei anderen Bewertungen zu finden sind, waren für uns nicht nachvollziehbar. Jedenfalls wurde die defekte Waschmaschine umgehend repariert. Wir können das Haus wärmstens empfehlen.
