Photos and Description of this 1 bedroom holiday barn in Paxford - Perry Cottage

Single storey, 1 bedroom plus sofa bed, 1 bathroom, sleeps 2 - 4

Perry Cottage at The Old Cider Mill in Paxford is a detached, single-storey, converted hay barn to the Cider Mill and is surrounded by the orchards that provided the apples for the cider. ‘Perry’ is the old word for ‘Pear’ so they probably made that variety at the Mill too!! The cottage is Grade II Listed with traditional features including high ceilings and exposed beams throughout. Set on one wing of a 'U' shaped courtyard, the three other houses are owner-occupied. All on the ground floor, the cottage is ideal for those who do not wish to cope with stairs. In summer 2012 it was completely, and thoughtfully, renovated by the owners to provide accommodation of a very high standard. There is oil fired central heating. Children are welcome. A dog is accepted by prior arrangement at £4.00 per night.

Short breaks available out of season. Prices on request.

Excellent Cottage for Exploring the Cotswolds

  • 5 of 5

When we travel we always stay in self catering accommodations. We shop and cook as if we were at home. Therefore a fully equipped kitchen is of prime importance. The only item that my husband would have liked would be a four cup drip coffee maker.

To be fair we found this amenity in only one of the seven accommodations we rented during our 25 day vacation in the UK. The kitchen is very well equipped. There are directions for using all the appliances.

We were greeted with cake and flowers upon arrival. Delicious!

The cottage could not be more comfortable. We enjoyed the yard and cooking on the grill. Every room was spotlessly clean.

This was our favorite accommodation of our trip. We would highly recommend Perry Cottage to anyone traveling to the Cotswolds.

Wonderful stay at the Perry Cottage

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at the Perry Cottage for one week with our little son during the easter holidays. The location is great for exploration of the Cotswolds, walks starting form the cottage are also possible. The cottage is in excelent condition, very clean and well equipped (kitchen etc.)! The garden offered a wonderful possibility to enjoy the sunsets and our son loved playing in the grass.

We can highly recommend the cottage and would love to be back in the future!

Pretty house,but.....

  • 1 of 5

The house is new, very comfortable, but for me with a very big problem...it was full of spiders. We kill about 15 of them, and the last day we saw one in the room enormous and we had to sleep in the sofa.Perhaps it is normal because the house is in the country, but for me was a really nightmare. The front of the house was as well full of cobweb.Cleaning inside was perfect but the spiders out of the rafters.

Warm, Furnished to a vary high standard.

  • 5 of 5

We recentty had a wonderful week in Perry Cottage in the delightful village of Paxford. It was the best holiday property that we have stayed in. Warm, furnished to a very high standard and with many little extras such as flowers, homemede cake, candles etc. Although we did not have our dog with us it would have been perfectly suitable for a dog or small child. We would highly recommend Perry Cottage and the area.

Perry Cottage is ideally located in pretty Paxford where honey coloured stone houses have extensive views over the village and valley beyond. Only 2-3 minutes’ walk away is the Churchill Arms pub, serving award winning food and real ale. Paxford is just 3 miles from Chipping Campden whose High Street, built mainly by wealthy wool merchants between the 14th and 17th centuries, is often described as the most perfect in England. From thatched cottages to elegant town houses, the grand wool church to the imposing, open-sided Market Hall, the town is a constant delight. Small shops, good restaurants, tea rooms, hotels and pubs abound.

Paxford is set within glorious Cotswold countryside in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Footpaths abound and Broadway, Stow-on-the-Wold, Bourton-on-the-Water, Shakespeare's Stratford upon Avon, Warwick Castle and Blenheim Palace are all within easy reach. For garden enthusiasts, the renowned Hidcote Garden is just one of several local attractions.
