Five Bedroom Detached Chalet

Spa Chalet is a Victorian 150 year old Swiss-style holiday home that was designed by the Crystal Palace creator Sir Joseph Paxton in the late 1850's. It was totally restored to it's former glory by its present owners in 2009. Built into South Cliff a few feet above the sands, it is the towns most unusual heritage home and possibly the only detached house on this famous seafront. The house has been completely refurbished and modernised from top to bottom, whilst retaining the many period features. On the first floor of the house entrance level, there is a beautiful lounge with sea views, a large dining/kitchen area which comprises of a combined washer/dryer, dishwasher and a stainless steel range style oven. Also on this level is the master bedroom which has an impressive en-suite with a roll top bath, and an additional double bedroom and a completely tiled wet room. On the ground floor there are a further three double bedrooms, all with en-suites. The layout makes the most of the uninterrupted majestic panoramic sea views, especially from the balcony that runs along two sides of the building.

Unbelievably luxurious

Cosy, luxurious chalet with the best views in Scarborough. Just a short walk from town, amusements and the beach with plenty of places to east to suit any budget. Four of the five bedrooms are en-suite and the place is lovely and warm, even in winter. Couldn't ask for anything better.

Beautiful property, great location

Beautiful house with 5 big bedrooms, all with own bathrooms. Well equipped kitchen and dining area, lounge on the smaller side for the size of the house. We had a family holiday here, 8 adults, 2 10 year olds, and one baby along with 3 dogs. Everyone had a brilliant time. There was only parking for 2 cars so be prepared to pay for parking if more than this. Few minutes walk down to the large sandy beach and into the town centre. Only used the car once to go to Whitby as everything was easily accessible. No garden as such for the dogs but plenty of areas nearby to take them out to. Wonderful sea views and of the south bay area of Scarborough. Would highly recommend and we hope to return next year.

The position of the chalet is second to none.

This is the second time we have stayed in the chalet. The facilities in the chalet and local amenities are excellent. Would recommend anyone to stay.

You must try this!

Lovely, lovely house for a family get together -it features a great mix of the unusual and comfortable. Lots of space to spend time together, or apart, and very well equipped- all you should need is toiletries and a beach towel. We enjoyed the ever changing view from this fantastic location. If you enjoy staying here you would probably appreciate these too, all just a few minutes walk from the chalet - the putting green at the end of the Esplanade and Cafe Francis on the way back, Art Gallery and Woodend just over the foot bridge, and the morning concerts in the Spa Sun Court. Would love to stay here again with family or friends, any time of year.

Stunning and beautiful

The Spa Chalet takes your breath away from the second you see it high up on the cliff. It is beautiful. The views are awesome. The property is warm, cosy and sumptuous. I felt so happy here on our week away! You wanted for nothing! It is in a great location. So you have beach, shops, restaurants, running and days out all on your door step. The house has all the crockery, cutlery and glass ware you will ever need. Plus they provide all the basics including cleaning "stuff" and toilet rolls!! I loved all the local running trails, I loved driving in to Whitby (a bus also goes there) - the most dog friendly place ever!!!! Filey beach was beautiful, Robin Hood Bay is worth a visit but not so dog friendly if you want a coffee/cake stop, hotel at the top is the only place that allowed dogs. We took the steam train from Pickering to Goathland, another great day with the dogs. Walked down 173 steps to the Mallyan Spout and had coffee with the dogs at the Mallyan Spout hotel/coffee shop. We had a fabulous week. Waking up to sea views and the sound of seagulls was superb. I would not hesitate to recommend this beautiful house to all of my friends. The housekeeper was brilliant and provided a really quick response when we needed something. She was great. We also had flowers, bread, butter and milk on arrival. Honestly it was pure heaven.
