Maison Jolie is a well-appointed large modern house built in the local Perigourdine style. It has been furnished with a mixture of antique and modern furniture and has four good-sized bedrooms all with en-suite bathrooms.

Outside is a large patio, lawn and pool area with ample garden furniture for relaxing either in sun or shade. A large covered terrace provides an ideal place for al fresco dining or simply a place to sit and read. It has a luxury fitted kitchen with breakfast area, laundry room, formal dining room as well as a triple aspect lounge which stays cool during the day. This is a modern house designed for the purpose of accommodating all groups and therefore copes effortlessly with a full house.

Easy access and gated parking area.

While the house looks out onto countryside and is peaceful, it is a level easy walk along the river to Le Bugue and its bars, restaurants, supermarkets, medical centre, banks & shops. It is centrally located for many tourist attractions for all ages, including prehistoric caves, art galleries & water activities.

About Linda Pretty

John and I have been coming to France for many years and during one of our many visits to the Dordogne we bought a plot of land ideally situated to explore the Perigord Noir. This architect-designed house has been a joy to live in and has offered our guests the space and privacy we hoped for. During 2012 we successfully ran the house as a B & B and on the strength of that we decided to move offering holiday rentals instead.

Bathroom has bath, shower, toilet and basin. Bedroom 2 has queen-sized bed and view over garden and pool. Bathroom has bath, shower over bath, toilet, basin. Bedroom 3 has 2 single beds which can be converted to a queen-sized double, 160cm. Bathroom has bath with shower attachment, toilet and basin. Ground floor bedroom has queen-sized bed, 160 cm. French doors open onto front of house. Bathroom has generous walk-in shower, toilet and basin. This room is suitable for a person with limited mobility.

Notes:
The ground floor bedroom would suit a person with limited mobility as there are French doors with entry from the parking area and level access to a walk-in shower. Please ask us for extra details as to suitability. There is an additional ground floor toilet & basin with easy access from garden/pool. Laundry room with washing machine, dryer & sink There is an abundance of comfortable seating throughout the house The house has 3 dining areas with seating for 8-10 people: the covered terrace, the kitchen and an extendable antique table in the dining room. There is a selection of indoor and outdoor games.

Wonderful house and setting

Spotless clean house in the countryside. Easy walk into town along the river and through the fields. Quiet and comfortable with everything you could need. Owners very nice and there to greet you and answer questions. We will return and we highly recommend with much enthusiasm. Le Bugue and surrounding areas just fantastic. House is just like the photos and every bit as nice as advertised. Also recommended, Canoe Erik, Tuesday market, La Pergola, the bakeries, the creperies, the local wine store and local wines hiking and biking. Bon Voyage! Thank You Linda and John!!!

A wonderful 'home from home' - well appointed holiday home for the perfect family vacation

Just spent the most perfect week at Maison Jolie - it is perfect for a family holiday. The house itself is of a very high standard , a fully equipped kitchen, games and dvd's for the evening, ping pong table for the competitive boys and heated pool!!

Le Bugue is walking distance with many lovely restaurants and bars as well as canoe Eric for trips on the Dordogne which is a must!!!

Many thanks to Linda and John who were so welcoming and helpful during our stay - giving us recommendations on restaurants and cycle hire.

100% recommend and have already told extended family and friends as this is definitely a place we would plan to come back to 😄?

Fantastic stay!!

We thoroughly enjoyed our week at Maison Jolie. The owners Linda and John were extremely welcoming and were waiting for us upon arrival to show us around. The house is very well equipped, has everything you would need. We were travelling with a toddler and a baby and the house had a lot of baby equipment plus some books and toys which was a lovely touch. It would take about 25/30 minutes to walk in to le bugue but we enjoyed being in the house so much so didn't feel the need to venture out. Linda and John were fantastic and very responsive to any issues (the only issue we had was one fan not working and John came to replace it within an hour of our email!!), however they do not intrude in any way. We hope to return to Maison Jolie in the near future! Thank you for a wonderful stay.

Maison Jolie a great holiday location

The house is well designed, well maintained and well equipped, in a convenient and quiet location. The pool is a wonderful amenity when the weather is hot. The owners are extremely helpful. The ability to walk into the village of Le Bugue and to take day trips by car in the Dordogne/Vezere area is an excellent aspect of this rental. We would highly recommend Maison Jolie without hesitation.

Le Bugue is a bustling town in the Périgord Noir region of the Dordogne and has been inhabited for over a thousand years. It is perhaps best known for its busy 800 year old market selling mouthwatering local produce held every Tuesday, by mandate of the French King in 1319! .

Our home is an easy, level walk along the river to bars, cafes, restaurants and shops. Likewise, close by are supermarkets, banks, medical centre (with excellent doctors, some of whom speak English) pharmacy, dentist etc..

During summer there is a regular Tuesday night market which is a fun, simple way to dine where local artisans prepare food to eat on the tables & benches provided by the commune. Most Friday evenings during July & August you can listen to live music (folk, jazz) by the riverside.

The area offers many tourist attractions and activities: famous prehistoric cave paintings at Font de Gaume and Lascaux, Les Eyzies is the world famous centre of pre-history and Cro Magnon man whilst caves like the Gouffre de Proumeyssacc, Padiract offer spectacular formations.

Other attractions: chateaux, such as Beynac, Castelnaud, museums, historic buildings, the Maison Forte de Reignac, the medieval town of Sarlat, gardens ( Les Jardins suspendus de Marqueyssac, les Jardins d'Eyrignac), the Dordogne & Vézère rivers with their canoe trips and river beaches good for swimming, water & theme parks, a zoological reserve at Calviac with rare and endangered species.

The region is also famous for its gastronomy, with a wide choice of high-quality restaurants reasonably priced. Specialities include fois gras, truffles, cepes, magret de canard (duck breasts), wild boar and local trout. It is also a perfect area for hiking, walking and horse riding.
