About Lucille Horkan
I am a city girl, born and raised in the Bronx, NY. Always loved the country and happened to find this special place when I was looking to escape the streets of NY! Spent many weeks/weekends with family and friends, making forever memories. Hope to live here full time someday, but for now, happy to share it with others.
Lucille Horkan purchased this House in 1989
Why Lucille Horkan chose Middletown Springs
Unique and one-of-a-kind setting. Sounds of the waterfall all day and night. Swimming, wading or sitting under the cascading falls a delight.

River and waterfall sounds
We were very impressed with our stay and being my first experience with an online rental we were thrilled. The waterfall and stream are literally right off the back porch. We kept saying in the summer how great it would be to bring the dogs and have them play, to wade in the water and just to have the windows open to hear the running water. We got a nice snow storm and made a lot of fires and couldn't believe how well stocked the house was with toiletries, dishes, and everyday essentials. Would love to go back for a summer time experience!
I hope you do, especially in summer after baby arrives! My children grew up wading in the river and the baby will love dipping its feet in! All the best to you both and do visit again sometime!

Nice place...great owners
Very nice place, friendly & professional owners. Nice place for kids or pets, but if you are looking to view wildlife, go north, FAR north
Very funny John! I think you would spot more wildlife in the summer, especially birds! But we do have an abundance of deer and try to keep the moose and bears AWAY!
Best to you always,
Lucille & John
Pleasant and quiet stay
Very nice private getaway. Comfortable and clean. With everything you need near by. The ease and comfort of the house made this trip relaxed and care free.
Gordon we are so glad you visited and enjoyed the house! Do try to plan a summer trip sometime! The river adds a whole new dimension to "cooling off".
Best- Lucille & John
Great place to stay!
Very quiet and secluded. Lucille was a wonderful host!
Glad you enjoyed your visit! Look forward to hearing from you again some time.
Home away from home.
The Horkan House was very well equipped , organized, clean, and comfortable. The property has a stream with a waterfall that you can walk to with river shoes. There's a large backyard deck with a barbecue & table for 6 , reclining lounge chairs and is very private. The lake water at nearby Lake Catherine State Park was warm , inviting and pet friendly. We also enjoyed our daily visit by the Cardinal who seemed to get pleasure from relentlessly bouncing off the picture window and peering at us from afar
Thank you Karen! I think that cardinal has an ego problem and likes to see himself in the reflection. The only problem is that he is scratching the glass! Glad you got to Lake St. Catherine as well - a delightful spot. Hope you will visit again sometime.
Lovely, secluded home. River and waterfall were amazing to fall asleep to.
I loved the house. I didn’t like having to pay the insurance. Overall, the house provided the perfect downtime my family needed before the kids went back to college.
Glad you liked the house and had some downtime as well. The insurance is for your protection as well as the homeowner. Don't think it is too high a cost for the coverage you get.
