Beautiful 4 Bed Seafront Home With Sitting, Dining, Kitchen & private parking

Horizon, our fabulous three-storey Victorian seafront home is conveniently located on the South West Coastal Path, with Newberry Beach just a few steps from the front door. From the house you can enjoy uninterrupted, spectacular views across the cove and sea, or lie in bed listening to the waves roll in as you drift off to sleep. Situated on a peaceful, no through, beachfront road, the holiday cottage is also only a few hundred yards from the main village beach, pubs and shops of Combe Martin. It offers 'a little bit of heaven by the sea' in which to relax or explore all that the area has to offer.

Horizon is an exceptional property, furnished with your comfort in mind and retaining many wonderful Victorian features. Tastefully decorated, with original artwork on the walls, it is a stylish holiday home with a relaxed feel. Particular attention has been paid to provide those extra touches that allow guests to settle in quickly, such as an extremely well equipped kitchen, quality bed linen, and buckets, nets, DVDs, books, games etc. to keep the children amused.

Horizon has recently been sympathetically extended to the rear of the property to include two new stylish shower rooms, one of which is ensuite to the second floor king bedroom. The accommodation comprises of an entrance hall, sitting room, separate dining room, downstairs cloakroom, fully fitted kitchen, bathroom with separate bath and shower, two new shower rooms and four bedrooms (sleeping 8 people plus a baby in a travel cot). Ideal for two families to share as there are two bedrooms on the first floor plus the family bathroom, and two bedrooms on the second floor plus the two new shower rooms, providing lots of space. The house is fully central heated with constant hot water and a cosy open log fire in the sitting room. There is wifi available via a broadband connection (15mbps, unlimited downloads, nominal fee), as well as freeview and freesat TV in the sitting room and also in the master bedroom (several movie channels) and freeview TV in the dining room.

An elevated patio at the front of the property overlooks the sea and Newberry Beach, gets the afternoon sun, has patio furniture and is ideal for that relaxing 'sundowner' at the end of a fun packed day. To the rear of the house, another patio enjoys the sun most of the day. There is off street parking for two cars in tandem, at the rear of the property, which is a rare find among beachfront houses and a major bonus during the school holidays. There is also unrestricted on street parking on the lane to the front of the house.

Horizon is just a short walk from a number of shops and pubs (the deli is an excellent cappuccino and cake stop, as well as doing a great full breakfast if you're feeling like a lazy morning!). Pubs 400yds. Shop 500yds. Deli / cafe 500yds, Newberry Beach directly opposite!

Beaches::

You can spend lots of time on Newberry beach with it’s rock pools (great for catching crabs), stream (great for creating dams) and it’s caves. The main village beach can be reached across the rocks and sand at low tide, or via a 2 minute walk just around the corner on the coastal path (pavement for the stretch from the house round to the main beach.

If you want spectacular large sandy beaches and water sports head to the west to Woolacombe (15 minutes drive) & Croyde (25-30 minutes drive).

Ilfracombe (5 minutes drive west) offers a lovely harbour area with Damien Hirst's restaurant (The Quay), whilst the picturesque villages of Lynmouth and Lynton with their water powered Victorian cliff railway are a short drive to the East.

Walking & Fly Fishing:

There are great walks locally (the famous one being to Great Hangman – the highest cliff in England) and Horizon is located right on the South West Coastal Path. Wistmoorland Reservoir a 10 minute drive (6 miles) from the house has numerous easy walking trails (especially designed with disabled access in mind), plentiful picnic spots and an interactive visitor centre with outdoor play equipment. The reservoir is well stocked with rainbow trout and offers day and half day fishing permits at very reasonable rates.

Ilfracombe:

This is your nearest large town with shops and seafront area. The harbour area is nice to amble around and the streets running up from this have some good pubs and restaurants. Various boat trips are available from the quayside offering everything from deep sea and mackerel fishing to wildlife spotting coastal tours and day trips to Lundy Island to see the puffins.

Activities:

Walking, golfing, water sports, horse riding, children's theme parks, boat trips, fishing, historical visits. The list is endless! The renowned dinosaur and wildlife park is at the top of the village, whilst Watermouth Castle with its theme parks (best for 3-10 year old) is only 2 miles along the road going to Ilfracombe from Horizon.

First floor king bedroom has balcony with spectacular views and comfy lounging chair for sitting and passing the time whilst just taking in the view or reading. Great house with seaview

Our family had a great time when staying in this very convenient house, which has direct access to the beach and provides a wonderful view on the bay of Combe Martin. The house has a nice kitchen, dining room and living room with sleeping rooms for all of us. The beds are of high quality. The location provides access to the coastal path leading to the cliffs with stunning sights on the rocky coast.

This house is certainly on our list of places to be revisited.

Wonderful House in a Beautiful Setting

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Horizon in Combe Martin (4 adults, 2 small children). Horizon is a lovely house that is very tastefully decorated and extremely comfortable. The kitchen is well stocked with everything you need and it is clear that thought has gone into organising every room in the house. The bedrooms and sitting room have amazing views of the beach and water, as does the small veranda out in the front of the house (a very nice place to sit and sip prosecco in the sun). We also really appreciated that everything in the house is of a high standard and quality: the beds are comfy, the sheets and duvet covers are really nice, the pillows are good, the sofas in the sitting room are nice, the kitchen appliances and all amenities work well and are good quality, and the kids' room (with bunkbeds) was packed with toys and books and had a lovely feel to it (my two boys loved the house and didn't want to go home...). This hasn't been our experience with many other holiday homes. Combe Martin itself is a lovely sleepy little village and is a perfect destination if you want to explore Exmoor, the coastal path (the walks around here are amazing), or the local beaches. Some nice pubs around too. Lastly, Cassandra was extremely helpful, thoughtful, and responded really quickly to any question we had. Overall I would highly recommend this property. Adrian

A pleasant, family home by the sea.

A lovely location looking out over the bay and also only a short walk to the main beach and shops. Combe Martin is a good base for exploring Exmoor National Park. We enjoyed Heddon Valley, Valley of the Rocks, Watersmeet, Lynmouth etc. Horizon itself was clean and well equipped. A lovely family home. One of our party would have benefitted from a grab rail at the top of the first flight of stairs, but this is not a criticism of the property. In fact, the owner had been very helpful and honest regarding accessibility. Our experience of local restaurants varied, but we found the Pack of Cards good and enjoyed fish and chips at Black and White. The tea shop at the Hele Corn Mill produced delicious cakes. I would recommend this property to friends and relatives.

A wonderful house in which to spend a holiday.

"Horizon" is a well appointed holiday home for all the family, boasting excellent accommodation, comfortable beds, wonderful sea views and all the mod-cons a family could require. A real 'home from home'. Apart from the, characterful, creaky stairs the only sounds to be heard around the house were those of the young and old enjoying a relaxing holiday, the gentle lapping of waves on the shore and the occasional patter of rain on the Velux windows.

Local facilities are a short walk away, and the beach even closer. We strongly recommend this house for a fun, family holiday.

There is rarely a dull moment in our daily lives and that spilled over to our holiday where, despite very variable weather, we were able to dodge the showers and keep on the go all the time.

This holiday was the second truly memorable stay at "Horizon" for our three generation family, and we collectively thank you for the use of your lovely house. We look forward to repeating the experience in the not too distant future.

It is an ideal holiday location for families and adults alike, with a wealth of attractions and spectacular beaches within easy reach. As well as lots of outdoor activities, there are a good selection of village shops, cafes, a deli and pubs within a short walking distance.

Horizon is situated in the quiet rocky cove of Newberry beach, right on the South West Coastal Path in Combe-Martin. Located on a quiet, no through, beach front road, yet only a few hundred yards from the main village beach, pubs and shops in Combe Martin. Combe-Martin Wildlife and Dinosaur Park is 2 minutes drive away (courtesy bus), whilst Watermouth Castle with its theme park for young children is less than 5 minutes drive away.
