Stunning lodge in idyllic location. We've had a lovely holiday. Didn't want to go home, can't wait to come back! Thank you for making us so welcome.
Lovely spot. Dogs loved it. Clean and warm . Astrid very welcoming.
We had a lovely week here helped greatly by the fantastic weather all week. Astrid was so kind to leave us with some welcome goodies which we appreciated very much. There were lovely little touches such as the provision of essentials and this made it all so much easier. The cabin was furnished very tastefully and the cabin met our expectations in full. The verandah was a great sun trap and was perfect for watching the birds. Just one tip - take extra towels especially if you like a large bath sheet. Thank you Astrid.
A fantastic lodge tucked away in the beautiful South Hams. A superb facility which is very well priced, looked after, clean and well equipped. Within easy reach of Bantham village, the lodge is ideal to escape the rat race and enjoy the breathtaking countryside and beaches locally. The perfect place to get a good 'fix of Devon'. Will definitely stay again, a really enjoyable break, thank you.

What a wonderful retreat! The lodge offered every facility that you would need for a relaxing enjoyable stay, made more welcoming by the clean and homely Lodge that Astrid has created. The lodge also offers serene and peaceful surroundings in which to relax in, dogs absolutely loved it! Couldn't be a more perfect location for the exquisite beaches and eateries , Bantham bay was definitely our favourite, with the coastal walk to thurlstone being a must! The views were stunning, made better by the glorious weather that we had. On the way to Bigbury on Sea we took advantage of the Oyster Shack, where we opted for a seafood platter for 2, it was an unbelievable feast offered upon a three tier platter, fresh succulent and very tasty! We would like to thank Astrid very much for this new experience she has made possible with the hospitality given of her lovely lodge.
We had two amazing weekends in the chalet, Astrid has created a fantastic bolt hole with thoughtful touches everywhere, in the middle of beautiful countryside. We were able to get up in the morning and walk down the hill to the beach. Idyllic! Fantastic even in colder months, and we hope to return for the summer!
•Was the listing description accurate regarding the location, layout, facilities, etc?
-> Yes, completely accurate, everything was provided as expected and nice to have starter items such as kitchen roll there. Cabin was very warm with great heating, useful since weather was freezing over Easter. Plenty of space for our 4 year old boys to run around outside without us worrying about them.
•Was the property clean, was it well-maintained, etc?
-> Very clean, clearly decorated as a home not just a rental
•Did the owner provide good customer service?
-> Excellent, nice text sent in advance with all details, thoughtful touch of leaving easter eggs and card, cabin warmed up in advance.
•Would you recommend this property to a friend or relative?
-> 100%. Only thing to be aware of is it's in a valley so no mobile reception unless you go up hill, however owner has provided phone for any essential use and honesty box for usage of that.
•What activities, attractions and restaurants did you like or dislike?
-> Lovely countryside and bantham beach / burgh island are beautiful and unspoilt. Lots of other mainly outdoor attractions. Sloop Inn recommended, few minutes drive away.
Bantham has a beautiful unspoilt sandy beach with views to Burgh Island and Bigbury-on-Sea. Ideal for families, surfers, body boarders and walkers. The S.W. coastal path accessed from the beach or from a path in the field opposite Willows will take you to smugglers’ coves, quaint villages and the international sailing centre of Salcombe. Dogs are allowed on the beach all year, but in summer are restricted to the western end (the Ham) which reveals large areas of sand at low tide. RNLI lifeguards patrol throughout summertime and there is a surfing school based there. Other beach facilities are the mobile beach café’ and the public toilets. Bantham village, a short walk, offers a shop, café, and The Sloop Inn with excellent food! There are 2 golf courses nearby at Thurlestone and Bigbury-on-sea. Nearest town, Kingsbridge, has two supermarkets, medical centre/hospital, cinema, leisure centre with indoor swimming pool, and a variety of cafes, restaurants and pubs. Dartmouth, Plymouth and the vast rugged area of Dartmoor is about half an hour’s drive from the lodge.
