About this property

Muskegon Lakefront Home- Week of June 8th includes pontoon boat.

NOTE: We only book full weeks with a Saturday arrival date (Check in in 4PM or after, Checkout 10:30 AM) between Memorial day and Labor Day (except the partial week immediately after Memorial Day and the partial week immediately before Labor Day weekend.)

Built new in 2000, this is a home that feels like your home is at the lake. PONTOON BOAT IS INCLUDED IN SUMMER WEEKLY RATES BETWEEN DATES 06/08/24 ending on the morning of 08/24/24 (owner will send 2 contracts, one for cottage and 1 for pontoon boat) and available other weeks at a cost of $100 per day (minimum 3 days or $490 for 5-7 days) until approximately mid September. A pedal pontoon boat and kayaks are included as well. Twin Lake is a 112 acre All Sports lake with a nice sandy bottom for swimming located 15 minutes from Downtown Muskegon.

1536 square feet of living area above grade, (the true way to measure square footage) so no scary or musty basement to send the young kids to sleep in. There is 60 feet of private frontage (great not to be sandwiched next to neighbors), no steep hills to navigate to the water and no homes across the paved road . There is an open concept main floor plan with 9 foot ceilings and the primary bedroom with its plush King bed the only bedroom on this level . Home has Central air, a row boat, a pontoon style pedalboat and is less than 15 minutes to downtown Muskegon, very popular Michigan Adventure Amusement Park and 30 minutes to the Port City Princess, Lake Michigan beaches and dozens of public golf courses. An open floor plan, Xfinity/Comcast cable and WIFI included, hardwood floors, central air and five ceiling fans will make a cool vacation. Very kid friendly with a deck and large windows to allow adults to keep an eye on the young ones .

The Lake has bass, pike and pan fish. A Serta IComfort King bed is located on the main floor plus 4 quality queen beds (no sleeper sofas, air mattresses or bunk beds for for the kids to fall off) on the second floor and a fire pit that was relocated closer to the main deck. (not in photos). We are on the quiet side of the lake only about 185 yards to an island perfect to play on with an island that shields the noise of power boats, Jet Skis and skiers significantly.

We average 70% repeat renters each summer and lots of good comments. We have a Weber grill and we are only a short walk to a public park. A great place to build family memories.

This cottage built in 2000 with optional 19 foot pontoon boat (included in prime summer weeks and only available until mid September) is available at a reasonable weekly or daily rate (other weeks) is sure to make a memorable vacation. Every year we have very good comments that it is clean upon arrival and how nice it is. Horse shoes (shared with neighboring property) and a fire pit are other features we failed to mention. Muskegon, with its proximity to Lake Michigan, is not as hot as many areas of West Michigan. The main floor was repainted in 2017 and a nice propane Weber grill assures you great cookouts. Unlike some owners our weekly price includes taxes.

NOTE: The dock is seasonal and only guaranteed to be in the lake between May 20th and until the last September weekend. Contact owner if you have questions regarding this that may impact your stay.

WE ARE A NO EVENTS HOME: Please note our home is in a family neighborhood and respecting our neighbors is very important to us. Family reunions, graduation parties, weddings and other similar events are not allowed. We are okay if there are 5 or less extra vehicles at the property, not to exceed one day of your stay, and the small get together party is over and short term guests have left by 11PM. If you are looking for a place to host an event, it is very appreciated if you look elsewhere.

Family reunion.
Everything was great, communication was excellent, the house was inviting. It was wonderful to wake up in the morning with the large windows at the back of the house to look out onto the lake.

Twin Lake family summer vacation
We had a wonderful time. Dan, the host, couldn't have been nicer. The home is so well equipped we bought kitchen things that we didn't need to use because the kitchen was so well equipped right down to storage containers for leftovers! Beds were super comfy and the living, dining kitchen area is all open which was great. Lake wasn't too busy and we enjoyed all the toys that came with the house. Grands loved the fishing! Rained a couple days which gave us all a break from the sun. The deck provided both sun and shade which we appreciated. One tiny suggestion would be the firepit placement. We worried it was too close to the deck and think it would be better suited a bit farther from the deck. We will definitely come back to Dan's place, I strongly recommend it to other families too!

A Nice Vaca
Our family of 9 stayed here in early June. 5 adults , 3 boys under 10 and 1 infant. Dan was a great host and communicator. The house was ready and clean upon arrival. Everyone had their own bed, which were fairly comfortable. 2 bathrooms accommodated everyone well during our stay. We chose Dans home because it’s right on the lake for easy access, it had a sandy beach for the kids to play on and we wanted access to a boat, which was really nice. We fished everyday from both the dock and the boat. Our catches ranged from largemouth bass, yellow perch, crappie, northern pike, pumpkin seed, and bluegill. Largemouth bass we’re by far the most caught coming in around 1-2 pounds each. The lake did have some hot spots that yielded more catches than others. One thing to note this is a shallow lake and you need to be careful in some areas to avoid beaching the boat. Dan has a map to show you those areas. We did some adventures including Mac Woods Dune rides (40min away highly recommend). Ther he a lighthouse on Lake Michigan just a mile or so from the dunes that we also visited and bought tickets to climb to the top. We also did the Michigan Adventure Park (15 minutes away) they have a water park too, but it was not open yet. The park was fun, but did have limited hours of 10am to 4pm during our visit on a Wednesday. Nice and clean amusement park with lots of rides for smaller kids under 4ft and many for 4ft and above. Overall a good time!

Why are we anonymous when others on VRBO are not? Unfortunately our society has increased identity theft and more properties are being phished. We obviously never want two parties to show up for the same week, one legitimately booked and the other scammed into believing we rented to them so we do this for your protection. We strongly feel this anonymity decreases the odds of that happening. We are from the Muskegon area unlike so many owners who are unable to respond quickly should any problems arrive.

Why they chose this property

Back in the late 1990's, my wife and I looked for a place in the Twin Lake area on the water yet all we found were old homes that needed a lot of TLC. When an opportunity came to build what we wanted on a great lot away from all the boat traffic, we did not hesitate. While we call it the Cottage (Established in 2000) , it is a year round home that is well insulated which assures along with central air that you don't cook from the heat. There are so many advantages of our 112 acre over the bigger lakes. Water temperatures are warmer than the bigger lakes like Lake Michigan, there are no riptides like Lake Michigan and fishing is available on our dock which is located maybe 50 feet from our deck. Other lakes like Muskegon Lake and Mona Lake for the most part, are not ideal swimming lakes for young ones. We have sandy bottom frontage unlike some other inland lakes.

What makes this property unique

A good open concept main floor, 9 foot ceilings, the main bedroom away from the second story bedrooms where the kids sleep, no steep hills to climb and the ability to watch the young ones right from inside the home add to the appeal of our place. Our motto is to give renters what we would want in a rental, good beds, good linens, modern appliances and a clean place to arrive to while incorporating features such as central air, and a good internet and cable package. One of the drawbacks of many inland lakes is Personal Watercraft and Boat traffic zipping by. The island that is maybe 180 yards away shields you from this as all the fast boats go by the other side of the lake. A boat launch is located a few blocks away if you want to launch and leave at our dock for the week (We don't recommend boats over 18 feet or extremely deep V boats).
