Immaculate period cottage - perfect!

  • 5 of 5

This cottage was just the perfect holiday rental. It has so much character and is finished to an excellent standard, the cleanliness is excellent and every kitchen utensil you could possibly wish for has been provided. To be honest it feels more like a home rather than a holiday rental. I stayed here along with my mum and 2 children aged 7 and 2 and it suited us perfectly. The beds are very comfortable and all the rooms good sizes. It was the location that also made it for us. Despite being located on a busy road it is secure enough to allow the children to play outside. My son adored the goats, chickens and cats and the owners even allowed him to help with feeding, he didn't come in for hours while he was feeding the animals outside! It was such an unexpected bonus of the holiday that will always be remembered. The owners live in the adjoining farmhouse and are always on hand should you need anything, which is nice to know. Christine, your welsh cakes were amazing and Tony your chickens lay fabulous eggs! Thank you and I would definitely return.

A brilliant, warm and lovely cottage

  • 5 of 5

From the moment we pulled up the driveway, we were impressed by the property and location. We were met by Christine, a very welcoming host, who showed us around the cottage. You can feel the quality of the work that Christine and Tony have carried out to restore this beautiful old cottage, integrating the old and the new. When you look out of each of the windows, you find a view, whether it is the village of Bodfari over the fields from the rear aspect, or the goats in the pen playing around from the side. Our three children loved everything about the cottage, from feeding the goats with Tony, who very generously offered to take them into the pen in the mornings when they were up in time, looking for the two cats in the yard and collecting apples from the tree in the garden to make a crumble with.

As a family, we all loved the local walks and taking in the beautiful scenery. While this is rural and you get the feeling of the remoteness, you are only a few miles to the nearest supermarkets and shops which is reassuring if you forget anything. Being close to the coast is also an added bonus, with the resorts of Rhyl and Prestatyn not too far away in the car.

All in all, we loved staying in this cottage and the children have already asked when can we go back, which is high approval of a place to stay!

Thanks again to Tony and Christine.

Owner's Response: A delightful family to have stay in our cottage. Very polite children and well behaved doggie. At least 2 of the children told me they want to be in farming when they grow up ! Thanks for staying with us Tony

Couldn't have asked for better

From the moment we arrived, we felt welcomed into this property. The welcome package was gratefully received (the kids especially loved the welsh cakes).

The property was spacious and well equipped with the additional downstairs toilet and shower room being a very welcome addition. It felt like a home from home.

The log burner in the lounge was lovely and warm and the views over the fields from the back patio were very relaxing after a day out sightseeing. The kids enjoyed playing in the outside space.

Christine and Tony were fabulous hosts and I couldn't fault their attention to detail or their willingness to help. Tony came out after 10pm one night when the lock on the back door wouldn't work. He secured the door that night and replaced the lock 1st thing the following morning.

During our stay, my car decided to play up and christine was quick to assist by contacting a local mechanic who came to look at the car and fixed it the following day, they even offered to lend me one of their cars so we weren't stuck inside.

The pub nearby (The Downing Arms) doesn't really cater for children (no kids menu so they had to eat from the full priced adult menu which they were not keen on), however there were some great pubs within a 3 mile radius (we put the business cards in the welcome pack for others to see) and the cottage's central location meant you are ideally situated for exploring the North Wales coastline & Snowdon National Park.

Since we returned home, we have received a package today as my little boy left one of hs teddies behind so when Christine found it, she postd it back to us - now that's something you get everywhere!

I have stayed in a number of holiday cottages over the past few years and can honestly say that this is by far the best both for the quality of accomodation and the friendliness of the owners - I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this property and would definitely consider returning.

Owner's Response: We enjoyed having this family for the week and hope to see them next year. I have spoke to the Downing Arms -the local pub/restaurant and they confirm they do provide a childrens menu - They think it was a new waitress that got it wrong ! Regards Tony
