About Lyn Henderson
We are a family of four with 2 boys aged 9 and 13. We love mountain biking, skiing, hillwalking - any outdoor activities really! We live in Edinburgh but try to escape up to the house ourselves as often as we can.
Lyn Henderson purchased this House in 2005
Why Lyn Henderson chose Nethy Bridge
Lovely woodland and riverside walks and off-road biking from the door. Totally peaceful and amazing starry skies. Heaps to do for all ages in the area. Great wee village shop and butcher.
What makes this House unique
We love the house because it's roomy but cosy at the same time. It's in such a peaceful location and the garden is really big with dozens of trees - perfect for kids exploring and building dens and watching the red squirrels. It's great to have the large play room with the TV and table tennis table separate from the quiet lounge! It's also our home from home so it has lots of extra touches, equipment, books, games etc
Cancelled bookings will not receive a refund.
Great Place to Stay
The House was Ideal - Very good kitchen for cooking, lots of space. We were a group of 8 bird watchers so great location. The added bonus was watching Red Squirels in the garden. We would certainly stay here again.
Everyone enjoyed their holiday and the house and surroundings helped a great deal luckily the weather was kind to us but cool so a warm house was essential
We had everything we needed as Glencraig is very well equipped
Perhaps a small TV in the lounge to watch the Masters golf uninterrupted by children would have been perfect
Thanks to the Hendersons for their well thought out home
Many thanks for taking the time to leave a review. We’re glad you enjoyed your stay and liked the surrounding area and the house. Being golf fans too we understand that it might have been nice to have a more peaceful watch of the Masters! However, generally speaking, we do like to keep the lounge just for games, music and conversation round the fire and we have had many positive comments from guests who like the novelty of a lounge without screens. Sorry, we know it won’t suit everyone and hope it didn’t take the edge off your stay.
A fabulous large home from home near the mountains and beautiful highlands.
Beautiful house with lots of space for our group of 8 ladies. Lovely hot showers and comfy beds. We will be back again I’m sure.
Many thanks for your review. Glad you enjoyed your second stay. The beds and showers always get a lot of positive comments - second only to the table tennis table!
Excellent and very well equipped house
Lovely house with plenty of space, kids loved the playroom!
Thank you for your review. We like to keep the games room stocked with lots of toys, games and books - as well as the table tennis table - so we’re glad they were enjoyed!
Very comfortable, spacious house with everything we needed for a wonderful week.
Perfect place to stay for two families. The photos don’t show how big the property is. There is so much to keep the children happy. Ours loved the garden, the go karts and table tennis. Very comfy beds and everything very clean and modern.
Thank you for the review. Yes the house is a lot bigger than it looks from the front - it’s a T shape. Glad you found everything you needed and enjoyed your stay!
Excellent house in a very beautiful location. Well equipped and very clean. Loved the wildlife. We came to find snow and we couldn’t have wished for a better location. Only one tiny criticism, the master bedroom at the rear could do with a dressing table or drawers.
Overall though outstanding.
Many thanks for your review and glad you enjoyed the house and the wildlife. Apologies for the delay in responding. We have noted your comments about the master bedroom. It's quite tricky - the nice thing about the master bedroom is the fact it has windows on 3 sides which makes it lovely and bright, but with the large walk-in wardrobe and door to the ante-room/ ensuite on the other wall, we found it didn't leave much space for a dresser. However, we will look at improving the existing shelving in the wardrobe, which will hopefully go some way towards addressing your comments.
Nethy Bridge is a picturesque, peaceful village situated in the heart of the Caringorm National Park, along the Speyside Way - perfect for exploring the beautiful surrounding area, from the magnificent Cairngorm mountains to the quiet beaches of the Moray Coast. It is also the perfect base for a huge variety of outdoor activities, including hillwalking, golf, skiing, tennis, water sports, birdwatching and climbing. Nethy Bridge is a particularly good location for walking and mountain biking, with mile after mile of off-road trails and paths straight from the door through hundreds of acres of the Abernethy Pine Forest, linking to the Rothiemurchus Estate. It is a short drive to Aviemore, with its shops, pubs & restaurants, leisure centre, swimming pools and cinema - or you could take the quaint steam train which runs from Broomhill Station just outside Nethy Bridge, through Boat of Garten to Aviemore. Red deer and red squirrels are frequent visitors to the village, as are the famous ospreys to the nearby RSPB reserve at Loch Garten.
