...To a 1906 house in Sellwood, Portland's oldest neighborhood. Our comfortable, newly remodeled home is close to Sellwood Park, Oaks Bottom Wildlife Refuge, and the Springwater Corridor (bike and walking trail that will take you along the banks of the Willamette River to the heart of Portland or to farmlands outside of the city). We are a short walk from popular restaurants, coffeeshops, food carts, brew pubs, wine shops, grocery stores, yoga studios, spas, a library, antique shops, and more!
Most of the house is decorated with Asian art and antiques from our years living overseas (hence, the tradition of a "shoeless house"). We hope you find it interesting and comfortable.
Our house is three stories, including a basement. Guests would have access to the entire house, garage, and the backyard. Since this is our primary residence, we think you will find everything you need to make your stay enjoyable, from spices in the kitchen to games to play in the yard. You are welcome to use it all!
Sellwood Park, just two doors down from us, is a classic old Portland Park with giant Douglas Fir trees, playground equipment, sports fields, tennis courts, picnic areas, and an outdoor public pool open in summer. Just below the park and next to the river is a wildlife refuge with a nice loop trail along which you can observe song birds, waterfowl, and birds of prey (even Bald Eagles if you are lucky)!
Down the street in the other direction is Sellwood's main street (13th Ave.) with the amenities listed in our introduction. A couple of our favorites are Jade Bistro and Blue Kangaroo Coffee Roasters. A bit further is the main street of Westmoreland (Milwaukie Ave.) with even more offerings and a movie theatre. Eastmoreland Golf Course (18-hole public) is located near Westmoreland and Reed College.
We are close to bus routes that will take you downtown, and the Orange Line of the Max Light Rail in Westmoreland connects with other lines that will get you all over the metro area and to the airport. Uber and Lyft drivers service the area (about $12 to downtown and $28 to the Portland Airport). We offer off-street parking in our driveway for up to three cars.
City of Portland permit for short term rentals acquired.
