HARO HAIKU is located on the West side of beautiful San Juan Island.

The house is nestled just below the ridge line - with 180 degree views of the Olympic mountains, the Strait of Juan de Fuca beyond, and Haro Straits immediately below. Approaching the house, you pass by our Japanese-inspired garden with a 62 year old Bonsai black pine center piece.

BE SURE TO VIEW THE PHOTOS OF THE NEW, COMPLETELY REMODELED KITCHEN AND MASTER BATH !!

Inside Haro Haiku you'll find a contemporary blend of eastern and western style and decor with a decidedly Asian attitude. The interior lets the outside in through an ingenious use of sky lights and widow placements in the exterior and interior walls.

The views are spectacular!!

From South Vancouver island, across the straits to the Olympic Mountains, Pt Townsend, Mt Rainier, and Whidbey Island it never fails to inspire and delight. Sunrises, sunsets, ship and boat traffic, the lights of Victoria, and the Olympic Peninsula, clear starry nights, cloud formations, combined with the sound of Orca whales and surf below. Truly awesome!!!

Serenity and repose on San Juan Island

About Stephanie

We have lived on San Juan Island for 26 years. We owned and operated Lakedale Resort for 18 of those. We are very knowledgeable about what to do, where to eat, and out of the way places to hike, beach or..? We can help you with reservations for activities, dining or self guided tours of the islands. Always available and close by for any assistance necessary.

Stephanie purchased this house in 2005

Why Stephanie chose San Juan Island

The location of Haro Haiku is the main reason we chose to purchase it; Located on the WEST SIDE of San Juan Island with its spectacular vistas of Haro Straits, the Olympic Mountains, easy access to Lime Kiln State Park (Whale Watch Park), Serenity of the neighborhood (None to close, but not to far), and convenient to Friday Harbor.

Property is 3 acres with lots of privacy and views.

What makes this house unique

Guestbook comments from the owner

"Hello,

I haven't had a chance to write you until now, but i just wanted to let you know how much we enjoyed your lovely home. It was beyond all our expectations and we couldn't stop talking about how wonderful it was. (both the house and the location) our stay was glorious and much (or most) of that can be attributed to the haro haiku house. Thank you for your contribution to a wonderful weekend!

-Holly S.

p.s. i saw orcas from your deck!!

p.p.s. tom (my husband) requests that you contact us should you ever want to sell your home!"

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Haro Haiku. The views were gorgeous and the whole atmosphere was very relaxing. The kitchen and amenities were perfect. We cant wait to return and hopefully see some whales next time.

Peaceful getaway on scenic west side; convenient to town and Snug Harbor activities.

  • 5 of 5

Amazing zen house with truly incredible views. We loved the open feel of this gorgeous house - perfectly suited for the surroundings. We really enjoyed the deck overlooking the water, with the Olympic mountains in the distance. We even got to see the orcas from the deck several times. The house was well stocked with everything we needed - even some great board games for the kids. Thanks to Spehanie and Jack for such an easy relaxing vacation!

Perfect Island Getaway

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at Haru Haiku over Memorial Day weekend and it was the perfect spot for a girls getaway weekend. The house is nicely (and comfortably) furnished and the kitchen was gorgeous. But the views! The views of the Haro Strait and mountains beyond were spectacular. The house is located on the West Side of the island which is beautiful and peaceful but not far from the main attractions on San Juan Island. Thanks so much for sharing your home!

Anniversary getaway

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I just returned from an anniversary vacation to San Juan Island where we were fortunate enough to stay at Haro Haiku. The photos do not adequately portray just how beautiful and serene this home is. And the views alone will take your breath away! The kitchen was well-stocked, the furnishings were attractive and comfortable, the master bathroom was gorgeous, and did I mention the views! You can see the Haro Strait from the kitchen, dining area, living area and master bedroom. Stunning! We chose the west side of the island to hopefully catch some views of Orcas, and were greeted by them about an hour after we arrived and then every day thereafter. Haro Haiku is also conveniently located near all of the main attractions on San Juan Island. There is great hiking at Lime Kiln Park, Mount Grant and American Camp. Roche and Friday Harbor are not far away if you seek restaurants, museums, kayak/boat rentals, or whale watching tours. Overall a wonderful anniversary. Thank you Stephanie!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in your beautiful home on San Juan Island.it was the perfect place for 2 couples! Favorite things- waking up and searching the waters for whales and dolphins...we saw both! Watching the boats, tankers and cruise ships sail towards Vancouver.Sitting on the deck with a glass of wine or beer! Cooking a delicious salmon dinner and eating with a VIEW! The home was comfortable, clean and perfectly located for exploration of the Island. We hiked in Lime Kiln Stae Park( very nearby),and in the American Camp.Had a great dinner at the Duck Soup Inn, and enjoyed the Whale Museum in Friday Harbor. Thanks for sharing your beautiful home!

Wonderful Wedding Weekend

  • 5 of 5

Our family was so fortunate to have chosen this lovely home for our home base while on SJI for our daughter's wedding. From a quiet supper the night before for the small wedding party, to whale watching each morning over the sound, and for relaxing wedding preparations and photos on the afternoon of the big day...this home had it all, a relaxing feel, understated elegance, and best of all, an amazing location on an amazing island! Perfect weather too, lucky for us!
