Overview

About the property

Located in the town of Brooklin, Maine, we are the fourth generation of a family owned property on Blue Hill Bay, Allen Cove Cottage. The cottage offers a number of amenities for everyone;

• Private, child friendly beach

• Easy access to Acadia National Park

• Unparalleled scenic beauty with views up the bay to Blue Hill and of Mount Desert Island

• Close to golfing, biking and hiking trails

• High speed internet and cable television

• Gas Grill

Our cottage is located well off the main road and sits on 5 plus acres that are both field and wooded. The field leads from the house down to the 200 feet of private beach. There are no sudden drop-offs or strong currents which make it ideal for children (and adults) of all ages for swimming or sunning either at high or low tide. Low tide brings the added adventure of exploring the tidal pools.

This is the Maine that my family new in my youth, my wife and I look forward to welcoming you and yours to experience it as well.

July 5, 2017-July 12, 2017 family stay

  • 5 of 5

Allen Cove Cottage is located on a spacious lawn with a wonderful view of the bay. Access to the beach is available and my son, daughter in law and grandson visited the beach several times and my husband and I a couple of times. The kitchen facilities were more than adequate with ample number of dishes including bowls and cups. The internet worked GREAT! --a true plus for any venue now adays. We appreciated having free laundry facilities in the basement. My grandson enjoyed meeting Lucas --the owner's dog. We used Allen Cove Cottage as a home base for touring in the area--including Deer Isle, Acadia, Blue Hill, Castine and East Ormand. We also enjoyed strawberry picking at a farm nearby.

Great house on a beautiful property!

  • 5 of 5

Our family stayed at Allen Cove Cottage for2.5 weeks and loved it. The house was cozy, well equipped and had a huge yard and a short walk down the lawn to the beach. The owner and family were lovely. The location for day hikes was ideal and the beach was perfect. Great house for a family and we will surely be back!!

A wonderful week in NB

  • 5 of 5

This home was just right for our purposes, which were not those of the average tourist, vacationer. The hosts responded immediately with any questions I had both before and during our visit. The whole experience worked out wonderfully. Because we were in North Brooklin for family business, to host our friends for a few days, and had to run our own business while we were there, we could not have chosen a more well suited cottage. Having rented in the area for nearly 50 years, I can report that this experience went remarkably smoothly. The kitchen was very well equipped, all of the windows opened and had screens (a big deal for me! ) seating was adequate and comfortable, the whole place was immaculate and spacious. AND the BED was COMFORTABLE!

The grounds and the access to a swimming beach (pebbles and a little sand, it is way Down East , folks) were just perfect, and the views of Allen Cove were lovely and special. We would not hesitate to return.

Lovely stay in Maine

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I were here for a wonderful week with my parents. The cottage is roomy and gave us space to spread out. There are lovely views of the water, which is a 5 minute walk away, past a couple of houses.

The location is excellent, being under an hour to Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park, and much closer to Blue Hill to the north (full grocery store, restaurants, local hikes from http://bluehillheritagetrust.org) and Deer Isle to the south (we had an excellent lobster lunch at Fisherman's Friend; http://fishermansfriendrestaurant.com).

We enjoyed most of our meals at the cottage, several on the deck with a view of the water.

We had spotty cell phone coverage, but were grateful for the wifi.

Overall we had a very nice time, and would recommend this for others!

A wonderful vacation!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed for a week with our 4 year old and 7 year old and it was the most relaxing and wonderful vacation we've had in years. The stream with the resident frog, the beach with the ocean treasures, the grassy field - all provided hours of entertainment for the kids. Acadia's an hour away, Blue Hill 20 minutes, Deer Isle 15 minutes, but we ended up staying at the cottage as much as we could. The Brooklin Library 5 minutes down the road is fabulous with a great kids section, and wireless access. The cottage was cozy, clean, well furnished and had plenty of kitchen supplies. The back deck has a barbecue and lovely view. Cell phone coverage is consistent in the cottage (not always the case in coastal Maine) and thus we were able to use our iphones to check email.

Our only regret - that we hadn't signed up for two weeks!

a great Maine experience!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here for two weeks and we all could have stayed longer. When you book online you just hope it will live up to what the owner says well this Maine cottage was all that and more. The view from the deck, the fireplace the beds and everything was better than expected. Mr.Gray the owner was so great to talk to and learn more about the area. To be just down the street from the Maine home of EB White the author of Charlotes Web was amazing. Brooklin is a very small town with lots to close by. Wooden Boat School is close by along with Deer Isle which is a must see, but the best was just sitting watching on the deck after a day of kayaking and watching the sun go down. If you want a true Maine cottage, not a pottery barn experience this is it. Go visit Bar Harbor one hour away but stay here!
