Overview

About the property

Beautiful villa for big families, group of friends and couples

Estate Lepur situated in the same village, 8 km from the town of Benkovac, provides you with the opportunity to experience authentic Dalmatian hinterland. This extremely comfortable and fully equipped house offers accommodation for 10 + 2 persons. Built in the Mediterranean style, partly panelled with authentic country stone with traditionally equipped „crna kužina“ (dark kitchen) with indoor fireplace for preparing grilled and earthenware dishes, it will provide you with a real rustical atmosphere. In front of the kitchen there is a spacious covered terrace with a large dining table for twelve persons. Being on the terrace in the evening surrounded with easy-going people along with a glass of wine offers a memorable experience.

Next to the terrace there is a spacious hall for table tennis and in front of the house you can try bowling. You don't have to keep your car in the open since there is a garage.

This area, enriched with small hills is a great place for keen cyclists. Playing freely, breathing in fresh air, getting to know the nature and domestic animals are the main reasons for children's satisfaction.

The nearest beach, rich in medicinal mud, can be found in the place called Karin Donji. It is perfect for people who suffer from rheumatism and people with dermatological problems.

Apart from enjoying natural beauties, visitors have the opportunity to experience rich historical heritage since the remains of the large Roman-Liburnian settlement Asseria are part of this area. The findings are kept and exhibited in the Regional Museum in the Town of Benkovac.

We suggest visiting the castle Benković, several old churches and the surrounding villages where visitors can witness traditional lifestyle.

The City of Zadar, apart from rich cultural and historical heritage, offers a handful of events. Excursions to the national and nature parks such as the Paklenica, the Krka, the Plitvice, the Kornati and the Vrana are highly recommended.

Great house even better hosts

  • 5 of 5

An absolute pleasure all the way, from the moment we (4 adults, 3 kids) arrived at the house we knew we had made the right choice. We were met by the host and her brother with some beer, wine and bread to help us for the next morning, we got a full tour even though it was late. The house is fab, set over 2 floors, its way bigger than it seems in the pictures. A games room and playroom make up for great entertainment for the little ones and the outdoor seating area with BBQ is gorgeous. A separate indoor BBQ area is perfect if the evening gets a bit wet. You will need a car for your stay as the area is quite remote but make sure to visit Zadar, biograd na moru, sibrnek and the krka water falls. When we left our host found keys and drove 50km to return them to us, a kind gesture and one that saved us a lot of trouble back home. I would like to thank the lovely hosts, their father and friend for showing us the hospitality of Croatia, a beautiful country.

Sehr schönes Urlaubsdomizil mit sehr familienfreundlichen Vermietern

  • 4 of 5

Few people had the opportunity to get to know the city of Benkovac, the historical - cultural heritage, tradition and customs of its inhabitants, and they were not, or at least heard of Benkovački fair. The story of Benkovačko fair started back a hundred years ago and is transmitted from generation to generation, making it special, a story that can not be forgotten. This is a place where they used to be before playing wagons filled with singing, smiles, happy, and as such was the ideal opportunity for the guys who are peering into girls and girls into boys, where many were born of love. Today it is one of the largest and oldest fairs in Croatia and attracts more and more people throughout the year, an attraction that over and over again surprising number of visitors, who sometimes outgrow figure of 10,000. It is held every 10th of the month to six hectares of land, rocky and pine trees in Benkovačko village, above the town of Benkovac, in a region where people traditionally live from agriculture, livestock and indigenous crafts. A long column of cars extends from Benkovac Benkovac to the fair from the early morning hours. Thousands of cars parked around the main road and the area of the fair, hundreds of traders livestock and domestic animals, agricultural tools and small things for the house, dozens innkeeper with makeshift tents, unending streams of customers, prekupaca, curious and idlers from all Croatian regions, all this makes benkovački Fair Center Dalmatia every month.Benkovacki-fair-2

Instead of impersonal shopping in shopping malls people come from everywhere to buy and sell at a little more traditional way. The way it was done, and a hundred years ago. Prigorci, Podravka and Međimurci out of their driveways mills flour, Varazdin and Bjelovarci calves and Slavonia mostly pigs and piglets .. It has customers all profiles of farmers, herders, students, students, workers, doctors, professors, leader, politician, artisans and even journalists and tourists. Among the buyers and sellers still has "assessors" who watch the cattle in the teeth, cow udder, and the weight of the pig weighed out of the eye before weighing with a difference 2:00 to 3:00 kg. How to be a long time to be fair visit and to see everything, very quickly hungry, so after sightseeing and shopping the most visited booths and tents in which always hospitable offering local gastronomic specialties, such as roast lamb, which has almost become benkovački brand, suckling pig and a variety of baked dishes, all splashed with famous wines in Ravni Kotari. Thousands of visitors come because of tradition, but the atmosphere and of course to be seen. Hot nations, yet right in!, Often echoing the fair.Benkovacki-fair-3

All is fair and even jokes and laughter. The advantage of the fair is not only the hundred years of tradition, but also in the fact that this fair is a part, almost already lost customs of life of agricultural and livestock-raising areas and as such represents a genuine manifestation of the economic-cultural type and rich ethnic heritage. Get in Benkovac and do not go to Benkovac fair, is like going to Rome and not seeing the Pope. No matter whether you come in winter, autumn or summer, every fair is unique and special. You can expect a true touch of traditional, broad smiles of welcome, and the unforgettable sounds of Bukovica and Ravni kotari.
