Space 1,100 sq ft
Property type house
Minimum Stay 2 nights

About the property

2 BR, 1 BA with mountain views and close to trails, waterfalls, Brevard, and HVL

Enjoy beautiful mountain and valley views from every room of this private treehouse located minutes from the entrance to Pisgah National Forest, DuPont State Forest, Brevard, and Hendersonville. Hiking and biking, as well as kayaking and canoeing opportunities abound. After a day of hiking in the forest(s), trout fishing or tubing on the Davidson River, tooling around downtown Brevard or downtown Hendersonville, come home to relax in your own private retreat. Winter stays will allow you to enjoy the cozy wood-burning stove (with all supplies onsite and ready for you), while Spring and Summer offer opportunity to open the windows and listen to the sounds of nature and enjoy the refreshing, cool mountain breezes. In the Fall, you'll be nestled among the vibrant color of the changing leaves. Regardless of the time of year, you'll want to be sure to catch the sunset over the mountains!

Awake the next morning to views of the mountains from the expansive windows in the master bedroom or sleep in with black-out shades on the snuggly, comfortable queen-sized bed with luxurious linens. Enjoy breakfast on the porch in your pjs. Or take a brisk morning walk along the mountain on the gravel road.

The second bedroom is perfect for kids, if you decide to bring them with you. A brand new lounging futon gives opportunity for reading, playing games, or bird-watching, or extends to a full-sized bed for sleeping. A desk also allows for the quick check of emails or time spent writing about the adventures of your stay. The second bedroom is nestled between the master bedroom and the main living area, with a pocket door on either side to allow for privacy, though Mom and Dad will have to walk through the 2nd bedroom to return to the main living area of the house.

The bathroom is recently renovated with white, subway tile around the tub and lavatory, and fresh, new fixtures and linens.

A cozy kitchen is stocked with the essentials you need for meals in the home, if you choose to bring food with you, though you may also enjoy trying one of the unique restaurants Brevard or Hendersonville has to offer. Some of our favorites are Mayberry's and Blue Ridge Bakery on Main Street for lunch, and Marco's Pizza (also on Main Street) for dinner in Brevard. If you want to go to downtown Hendersonville, you must take in the long-standing local favorite Hotdog World or newcomer Hen-Dough (chicken and doughnuts!) for lunch. West First for wood-fired pizza and Never Blue for eclectic tapas fare are among our favorites for dinner on Main Street.

Come relax and rejuvenate in our little retreat on the mountain. We look forward to your stay.

About Joe and Sandy Worley

Joe grew up in these mountains and Sandy has been here for 25 years. We love this area and enjoy introducing others to the beauty and uniqueness it has to offer.

Joe and Sandy Worley purchased this house in 2016

Why Joe and Sandy Worley chose Penrose

We purchased this property because it enables us to slip away from the busyness of our daily lives without having to travel very far. We live in the neighboring county and treasure quiet moments to relax in this house, enjoy getting away and unplugging with our kids, and visiting the Brevard area restaurants and hiking/biking trails. We want it to be a blessing for others coming to visit this beautiful area.

What makes this house unique

The view from the porch instantly took our breaths away when we first visited our treehouse. Once inside, it is open and airy, while maintaining a cozy and fun atmosphere. How many times do you get to stay in a round house? We love the refreshing breezes that blow with all of the windows open and being able to see the beauty of the Western North Carolina mountains from every room in the house.

Pleasant Stay

  • 5 of 5

We very much enjoyed our stay. The cabin had a wonderful view, was very well maintained and offered everything we were looking for. Even though we had some very cool nights the stove kept the cabin very warm and in the morning we were still very comfortable without any additional heat.

The cabin looked recently remodeled so everything seemed new and fresh. The drive up was not bad but would recommend arriving in daylight the first time.

The location was great for our stay and put us close to DuPont and central to Brevard, Flatrock and Henderson.

We would be happy to stay again.

Excellent Property!

  • 5 of 5

We throughtly enjoyed our stay at this treehouse cabin. The location was perfect as a jumping off point for adventures in all directions. It was a good size (larger than I expected, actually) for the 2 of us for a 10 day stay, but would also be great for a family of 4 with small children. Plenty of living area with a small kitchenette and small bathroom. We have stayed at other properties in the area and this one was the best by far for overall amenities, location and value for the dollar. The hosts thought of everything and it was very well stocked. I would highly recommend this property to other travelers.

No disappointments here

  • 5 of 5

Everything was even better than described. Immaculate, great location, serenity, then add God's handiwork of beautiful mountains and gorgeous sunsets - well, it doesn't get much better than that. Joe and Sandy put a lot of thought, time, and effort into making our stay comfortable and enjoyable. We appreciate your sharing your "top of the mountain" with us.

This is a beautiful and well maintained cabin with a gorgeous view.

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I celebrated our anniversary at this wonderful cabin. We found it to be a great location for our planned activities (hiking, walking around Brevard, and quality time together). The "Treehouse" provides great views from several large windows and the porch (especially early morning and near sunset). We found this property to be very clean and well maintained. I highly recommend this property for a quiet weekend getaway.

Expectations exceeded

  • 5 of 5

I enjoyed the scenic drive up to the cabin through farmland and the town of Brevard. Google maps takes you just past the road leading to the property, so be aware of that. There are views of the mountains from each room and I liked how open and bright the large windows made the cabin seem. All of the rooms were clean and fresh and more than everything a guest would need was provided for, and the wood stove was perfect for the cooler mornings. There is plenty of hiking in the Pisgah Forest, and restaurants and breweries are about a 15 minute drive from the cabin. I very much enjoyed my stay and would recommend this cabin to anyone looking for a relaxing getaway. Thanks to Sandy for being a great host!

Best possible cabin stay in NC!

  • 5 of 5

I had a blast staying at this beautiful cabin. I am very into fly fishing and it was nice to be 10 minutes from DuPont State Forest. It was also nice to be 10 minutes away from downtown Brevard where there are awesome dining options. The house itself could not have been any cleaner and nicer. I absolutely loved it!

My only feedback would be to change check in and check out times to 11:00am and 3:00pm instead of 10:00am and 4:00pm. We felt a little rushing to get out and had to kill an hour when we arrived... Not a big deal though! It was awesome and I would highly recommend to anyone looking to stay in Brevard/Asheville.

Owner's Response: Thank you, Austin, for your energetic and outstanding recommendation of our property! We are well-situated for fly fishing in this area and I'm so glad you had a great weekend to enjoy it. Thanks for your feedback about check-in/check-out times. We have set those times to allow us plenty of time to prepare the house for each guest - cleanliness is a top priority for us. With that said, if a guest needs a little extra time to check out or arrives early, they are always free to check with us the day before departure or the day of arrival. If we can accommodate that request to allow a little extra time, we will! Again, thanks so much! I hope you'll stay with us again! Sandy
