The apartment is bright and modern(built 2004), overlooking one of the four pools that you may choose to use. Enjoy breakfast or evening drinks on the spacious balcony, and admire the panoramic Mediterranean Sea view. The popular Playa Flamenca Beach Commercial Centre, with numerous bars, restaurants and shops to suit all tastes, is within a few minutes walk. Adjacent to that centre is the new Supercor (El Corte Ingles) supermarket, banks, etc. Roadworks on the N332 means caution should be exercised crossing the road to the beach. 10 minutes walk will take you to the popular Saturday morning market. A perfect base for a relaxing holiday for sunbathers, golfers, couples and families alike. Secure parking within the walls of the complex is available on request should you need it, however a car is not necessary if holidaying at this apartment. History and Culture: The Orihuela region, with it's many museums, monuments, churches, and historic buildings, is well worth a visit. The old part of the town of Orihuela was declared a historic-artistic and monumental area in 1969. There are many noble buildings, six of which are declared Cultural Heritage. History is also in abundance in the nearby towns of Murcia and Cartagena.

For the lovers of ecological and environmental tourism, you may like to visit the lakes of La Mata and Torrevieja, where you can enjoy a mud bath, recommended by doctors around the world for it's curative properties for a large number of rheumatic dermatological, heart and respiratory complaints. Naturists may like to visit the nudist beach near the cliffs.

There are several natural hot spas in this area. The most popular, Fortuna and Archena, are an hours drive away through the picturesque mountains. The natural mineral waters will soak away your aches and pains and totally relax you. An absolute must for a day out!

Golfers Paradise: Playa Flamenca is surrounded by five first class 18 hole golf courses ; Villamartin, Royal Campoamor, Las Ramblas, La Finca and Ciudad Quesada, all within a short drive from our apartment. Other courses including La Manga complex available within a 30 - 45 minute drive from the apartment. Villamartin golf course is located on the Orihuela Costa is the closest (10 minute drive) and probably the best-known course in the area. Designed by Paul Putman and opened in 1972 the 1994 Mediterranean open was hosted here and, to much local delight, was won by Jose Maria Olazabal. The course is not too long, and is well adapted to the natural surroundings and terrain. Being located in the lowest part of a valley means it is not very undulating. There is plenty of Mediterranean vegetation as well as thick woods and there’s a natural precipice you need to avoid. A number of holes have water hazards.

This region of Spain enjoys particularly pleasant winters, and is ideal for golf.

Salt Lakes: The vast area of this natural park, which affects 4 districts, is a favourite resting place for many different varieties of birds. The most outstanding of these must be the flamingo, during the migration period there are more than 15.000 of these colourful birds taking a well earned rest.

The La Mata and Torrevieja salt lakes have been nature parks since 1994, connected together by a canal constructed at the beginning of the 20th century. There is a cycle path from the apartment into Torrevieja and there is cycle path from the old railway station called the Via Verde that runns along the shores of the salt lakes all the way to the village of Quesada. It is approximately 15km each way and mostly level.

Many people with rheumatic problems come to bathe in the lakes which they find beneficial to their health. With the intent to respect the protected natural area eco-system to its fullest, and take maximum advantage of its curative properties, last March the approval for the creation of a new health spa within the park came through. The project was awarded to the prestigious Japanese architect Toyo Ito, who presented a completely new idea and at the same time respecting the natural environment. Sleeping accommodation comprises two twin-bedrooms and two fold-up beds. Ceiling fans are fitted in the bedrooms and the lounge area, and there is under-floor heating in both bathrooms for added comfort in the winter months. An iron and hair dryer are also provided. A security video intercom system controls entrance at the main gate. The apartments employ a night watchman who patrols the grounds at nighttime during the summer season.

Excellent value for money

We spent two weeks in this apartment last November and are returning in May this year. We would endorse the excellence of all the amenities featured in the description. Not only is the apartment bright and pristine, but there is ample storage and two very adequate bathrooms. Having lifts and secure parking is an additional bonus. As golfers, we appreciated the easy access to several courses and Pat, the owner, is most helpful and accommodating. The restaurants in the nearby commercial centre cater for all tastes and budgets and it is only five minutes drive to Cabo Roig with its attractive marina, restaurants and lively "strip".

The apartment was in a great location, we had access to many different shops and restaurants. The apartment complex itself was modern, convenient and great for families! The apartment was also supplied with everything that my family and I needed. The owners Pat and Claire were very helpful and responded guickly, as was the key holder, Ray. Very clean and family friendly apartment,pools and complex.A great,memorable holiday!!!

Great relaxing holiday, close to beach and many restaurants.

The La Calma Complex is quiet all very well maintained. The apartment has a lovely sea view and is easily accessible by lift and stairs.

We had a lovely couple of weeks here in February.

Excellent Apartment - Ideal Location

We spent 1 week in Playa Flamenca in Pat & Claires apartment with our 3 kids. The apartment was superb, spotless, well equipped spacious and located very well - Lidl just across the road!

Pat & Claire were great to deal with and their keyholder Ray was a gentleman and a great help.

The pools onsite were ideal and the commercial centre was only a 5 minute walk with a great selection of restaurants and bars.

Highly recommend McNeils for a lovely traditional meal and Goodfellas for Italian, the Chinese upstairs in the commercial centre was great too.

All in all a great apartment, very clean, great location and would highly recommend.

Belle découverte

Séjour très agréable dans un appartement très illuminé. Terrasse de belle dimension pour profiter au maximum de repas à l'extérieur. Appartement tout confort tel que décrit dans l'annonce. Piscine et abords très bien entretenus. Commerces directement accessibles lorsqu'on n'a pas de voiture. Nous avons passé 10 jours de bonheur avec nos neveux. Seul regret : la literie inconfortable (surtout lorsqu'on souffre du dos). Ce serait un plus que la propriété soit entièrement non fumeur. Propriétaires et personnes de contact (Ray et Steve) très sympathiques et à l'écoute. Si nous en avons la possibilité, nous y retournerons.

The property is located between Punta Prima and La Zenia at Alameda Del Mar, and close to the popular Playa Flamenca Beach Commercial Centre. Most importantly, this apartment is just 300m from the sea and there is a fabulous sea view from the balcony. Playa Flamenca is unique, in that it can cater for many different types of holiday. You can enjoy a summer or winter break; a golfing or seaside break; a historic or maritime break, or perhaps a fun holiday with your children. You can play golf in a golfer's paradise, or relax on one of the many blue flag beaches. Drive west and enjoy the pine clad hillsides, the citrus orchards, the olive and almond groves, and the impressive palm trees that complete the lush landscape.

Torreveja, a 10 minutes drive away, is a beautiful Spanish fishing town, boasting a marina, waterfront market, street entertainment, shops, numerous cafes, bistros, restaurants, bars, and a beautiful church square. The superb palm-lined promenade and harbour board-walk are the ideal places to go for that evening stroll.

The La Zenia Boulevard shopping centre is one of the largest in Europe and is a mere three kilometers away.

The area is well serviced by bicycle lanes. Some of the more popular ones are the Via Verde which runs between the two salt lakes and the nature parks of Torrevieja and La Mata. Another favourite is the cycle path that runs parallel to the canal that crosses the road up to Villa Martin. It will take you to the picturesque vilage of San Miguel in one direction or between Las Ramblas and Real Golf de Campoamar in the other direction. This runs all the way to Pillar De La Horadada, San Pedro and on down towards Carthagena if you are feeling energetic!

Carthagena is a must for history enthusiasts. It is approximately a 40 minute drive from the apartment and the city is steeped in history. A visit to the Roman Theatre, a stroll through the pedestranised old city centre streets or a guided boat tour of the harbour are all 'must do' activities during your stay.

A wonderful Sunday afternoon outing is to drive to Rabate (30mins) for lunch. It is sited on the slope of a picturesque mountain looking down over wonderful rural sceenery. They even have their own little church in which weddings often take place.

One of the nicest villages in Spain is a mere one hour drive away. Guadalest is another mountain village that is well worth a visit. It overlooks two beautiful turquise lakes down in the valley and many of the little restaurants have terraces where you can enjoy a meal or drink while admiring the stunning scenery all around you.
