Q - Was the listing accurate regarding location, layout, amenities?
A - The rental is on the ground floor of the property, and the owners live on the upper level and are audible. It is a 15 minute walk from the older parts of Aix. The garden and covered pool are nicely landscaped and inviting. The layout is practical except for the kitchen, which we found too small and dark for our purposes (3-week stay, preparing most of our meals). The washer and drier are in another part of the house and arrangements had to be made in advance with the owner to unlock a connecting door.
Q - Was the property clean and well maintained
A - The property was very clean but in need of some repairs. The freezer compartment latch was broken and the consequent build-up of ice prevented us from storing much food. The stove-top and (microwave) oven were not user-friendly, and the digital read-out on the oven was not fully functional. The toilet seat was loose, as was the safety bar on the shower wall. The pool was well maintained.
Q - Did the owner provide customer service
A - He initially provided prompt assistance with any problems (although I had to defrost the fridge myself), but appeared to get quite busy as our stay progressed. Considering the length of our stay, there were not enough of some provided items (such as toilet paper, coffee filters, garbage bags, dishwashing soap, etc.).
Q - Would you recommend
A - Not to persons with the same objectives as ourselves, but people wanting a shorter stay or preferring to eat out would obviously not encounter the same problems.
Q - What activities, attractions and restaurants did you like or dislike nearby
A - We arranged several tours through the Tourism office and found them very helpful. We enjoyed the proximity to the old part of Aix and there was plenty of cafes, restaurants, bistroes, etc to choose from within walking distance. Prices are fairly expensive generally. Some of the advertised attractions were closed long-term for renovations.
Outside area with grill and pool are a big plus. Apartment is clean and very nicely appointed. Kitchen is tiny, but functional. We mostly grilled outside. The location is perfect for walking to Cours Mirabeau, grocery stores and restaurants. The owner was very responsive and gave us great tips on places to visit. We loved Chateau La Coste and it's wonderful outside art. Parking for a small car was a plus.
A great place, quite close to town (20 min stroll with a 4 year old in tow and we were at Place de la Mairie or The Rotonde) with everything you need for four people. Well decorated, clean, lovely relaxing pool, secure place and very nice owners. Considering how close it is to one of the main avenues it was nice and quiet. The petrol station around the corner does good fresh baguettes and croissants (dépôt de pain) and there is a medium-sized supermarket just down the road (Casino). Will certainly return.
Une très belle propriete, propre, sécurisée et bien décorée à 20 minutes maximum à pied de la Place de la Mairie où de la Rotonde (en marchant doucement avec notre fils de quatre ans). L'appartement est bien décoré et contient tout ce qu'il faut pour quatre personnes. La piscine et superbe et vu que cest si proche d'un grand boulevard le tout est bien calme. La station essence au coin de la rue faut dépôt de pain et il y a un supermarché Casino à 2 minutes. Les proprios étaient fort sympathiques. On y retournera sans doute.
Spacious 1 bedroom apartment with sofa bed for a party of 4! The garden and pool were so lovely we spent more time eating in with the tiny but fully functioning kitchen and excellent super market just a short walk away. The only downside was the car park because our rental car was too big to fit, but we were able to find cheap street parking with no problem. Jean-Claude was very helpful; a set of brochures and maps for touring Provence was provided along with guidebooks (in French). Old Aix is charming and easily walkable without a car. An early summer craft fair featured terrific hand made items for sale, and the weekly flower market was great! We drove to Cezanne's nearby mountain for a hike, to tropical Porquerolles island (east of Marseille) for a swim, and to ancient Vaison la Romaine to the north (with it's Roman ruins and medieval village) during our week's stay. We are seriously considering when we can return, as there is so much to see and Aix is so conveniently located. The beautiful apartment made the visit extra special!

Un séjour fort agréable dans une villa enchanteresse, un jardin magnifique, un lieu extraordinaire, un dépaysement total en un coin de verdure, des fleurs et des plantes de toutes beauté , des arbres pour cacher ce petit nid et enfin que dire de la piscine couverte ( un véritable mini center parc) et du bien être ressenti lors ce weekend de trois jours.
Quant aux propriétaires prévenants, gentils et discrets.
La localisation presque le centre ville d’Aix en Provence à quelques minutes à pied..Avec cette ambiance Aixoise que l'on ressent rapidement dés les premiers pas dans les rues piétonnières pleine de vie, de restaurants, d’échoppes et de commerces en tout genre.. Bref le Sud.
