About Mrs Sonia

Hallo everyone! My name is SONIA and I am from Lucca. I run my Lucca Holiday Rentals company that offers exceptional apartments in the heart of Lucca. My goal is to help you fall in love with Lucca – to discover, explore, taste and savor new sights and experiences in this incredible city.

My company began almost 10 years ago when I started to rent my family villa after my parents moved to the mountains when they got retired. I spent there my entire childhood and I grew up there in deep contact with the nature and the history. My father thaught me everything about the birds and the antique trees and flowers of the villa and the smell of the sizzling pans used to wake me up each Sunday morning after my mum started to cook! I was fascinated by her when she was telling me the history of the villa in the past century. I thought this kind of feelings are too precious to let them go so then I had the idea to share my love of Lucca and “la dolce Vita” by finding beautiful apartments , villas and farmhouses in my favorite Lucca neighborhoods among my family members properties. Lucca Holiday Rentals started out as a boutique family company and now there are over 15 people working together. We are a friendly and enthusiastic team who will assist you every step of the way, from your first enquiry to your arrival in Lucca.

Completely satisfied

This place is even more beautiful than the photos. The grounds are impeccable, and perfect for kids to safely run around on or just have a leisurely walk. The villa itself was exactly the Tuscan experience we were looking for - tranquil, has it's own impeccable grounds, beautiful views and near walking distance to a lovely little village with great restaurants. The kitchen is awesome and fully equipped to cook yourself a Tuscan meal to eat al fresco. The caretakers are awesome and so helpful. My entire family loved the place, and dream of coming back bringing more people to enjoy it. Highly highly recommend this place.

A Villa and people beyond words

  • 5 of 5

We have returned home from a fantastic week in Tuscany wishing that we had spent two weeks in Tuscany! The Villa Loppy (what a funny name!) was the perfect place for our busy family of 10 (6 adults and 4 kids: 16, 14, 12, 8) to relax, unwind, and enjoy the beauty of the Villa. Thanks to the loving care that Sonia put into this property, we hated to leave! Upon our arrival, we received a great orientation about the area and the rich history of the Villa. We were also given cell phones and a preprogrammed GPS (very helpful!) to use for the week that we requested in advance to Mrs Cristina. Thanks to Cristina, we had a delicious meal delivered to the villa to enjoy our first night. This was money well spent as we were tired from our long trip. We took day trips to Lucca (very close), Florence, Pisa and Cinque Terre. Sonia has all of the directions for these destinations at the villa. We enjoyed all of the day trips, but hated to leave the beautiful villa. After we returned from our day trips, the kids headed straight for the pool with a garden and setting that is beyond words. When we travel, we really enjoy getting to know the people who live in the area and seeing how they live. We enjoyed using our limited Italian to talk to the neighbors...they were very friendly and kind...one even brought us fresh figs from her garden...yum! Another group invited me to sit down with them as I was returning from my morning run. A highlight of the trip was the barbeque party at the villa. Cristina fired up bbq and taught us how to make the best meat that we have ever had. It was fun to chat with her about life in Italy...a night that we will always remember. Finally, we all slept like babies at the villa...it is quiet! The only sounds you hear in the morning are birds and roosters...wonderful! The house stays very cool thanks to the thick walls. The beds were extremely comfortable with cool linen sheets. We loved our visit...

CHRISTMAS HEAVEN

  • 5 of 5

An ideal place to unwind out of season as well as the obvious summer dates. Transport was easily arranged on the advice of the very helpful owners. The accommodation is very clean and comfortable; well presented with a delightful living area with great views from the big windows to soak up some much needed winter sunshine. The welcome pack was a very nice touch and saved the us from the usual arrival angst when self catering.

The location was very quiet with no intrusive traffic noise but just in a 15 mins drive from the city centre: a real bonus!. The local facilities are within a walk if you like to walk and explore the area, with the beach close by (15 mins, even if we could not swim in december!) and the train station as well.

We used the heating and it kept the house very warm for the whole time but we also used the fireplace in the upstairs kitchen which was very funny.

All in all an excellent venue for our 2 weeks break which helped to fully recharge the batteries. We will be back as soon as we can.

Our thanks to Sonia for a really place to stay.

I couldn't recommend it enough

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at the property in late September 2014. Our stay was absolutely wonderful. The Villa was beautifully done. Bedrooms were comfortable, the kitchen large, the living spaces spacious and more than enough for everyone. The house was immaculate. The grounds were beautiful, the garden was romantic and elegant with many lemon trees and the gazebo on the top of the fortress surrounding the property with a breathtaking view. The pool was a welcome relief in the afternoon and well used by our children. We were also blessed with a lovely owner available for our request and always met with a big smile.

Sonia, the host, was outstanding. She was like a personal concierge. She helped arrange anything we needed during our excursions thru Tuscany. Advice on best places to see, best spots to park, best restaurants to visit. This is my 8th visit to Italy, but I saw it through new eyes. This note is just to say how much we loved our stay in Villa Loppy. This Villa was the PERFECT way to appreciate Tuscany: it's location, the views, and especially the hospitality, It is a magical place! We loved every moment. A million thanks.

Visited twice in 2013 and 2014

  • 5 of 5

I was privileged enough to visit Villa Loppy not once, but twice in both 2013 and 2014. I must say each precious moment spent in this charming, luxurious villa was a moment I forever hold in my heart! From the delicious food prepared by one of the local women, to the astounding scenery, to the garden, my experiences at Villa Loppy were some of the most memorable of my life. Our gracious hosts Sonia, Cristina and Rossella provided endless opportunities to revel in authentic Italian culture and experiences. If I could go nowhere else in all my travels, I would be quite content to lay around at Villa Loppy and luxuriate in the Tuscan sun, food, wine, and culture!

Thank you Mrs Sonia for allowing us to stay there!

  • 5 of 5

The Villa actually exceeded expectations from the photos and website description. It is more beautiful then the photos show. The vistas are spectacular and the house fit me and my guests lifestyle to a T. Ten of us, 4 couples and 2 singles (we were all between 48 and 60 years old) enjoyed a wonderful week with spacious bedrooms with bathrooms, a great living and dining room that made us all comfy and at the same time provided each of us the privacy needed. The patio/terrace was truly our favorite part. It is multi-leveled with several dining and seating options to take in a glass of wine and the beautiful scenery of mountains, vineyards, rolling country side and olive trees---absolutely spectacular. The kitchen is so inviting...we only ate out twice and cooked the other nights. We never wanted for any utensils or dishes, the kitchen is well stocked. The gardens and courtyards are immaculately maintained. The owner, Mrs Sonia and her aunt were very accomodating and prompt in their responses to all inquiries prior to our trip. The location is great, with a top notch winery within 3 miles and other smaller wineries close by. The village of Loppeglia is so quaint and wonderful to bike ride through or just relax. The first night we were so excited to be there. We all gathered outside drinking wine, sharing munchies, stories about our journey from 3 countries to arrive at the Villa.... this was unforgettable. Walking in the village we met very pleasant people, especially the English couple who owns a house close by who entertained a lot and shared great restaurant and local information with us. The villa was wonderful, the weather was perfect, the pool was lovely, the view was amazing, and we all had a wonderful time and we wish to come back soon! Thank you Mrs Sonia for allowing us to stay there!
