About the property

Spectacular view - quiet - very central - modern amenities - cosy & charming

This stylish and comfortable apartment is very centrally located only a stone throw away from the Rossio square (D. Pedro IV), the most central square of Lisbon old town. From a French balcony at the living room you will have a great view on Lisbon's unique beauty. You can enjoy a fantastic panoramic view of the Tagus estuary, Baixa, Chiado and Bairro Alto quarter. The main shopping area Baixa/Chiado quarter and Lisbon's first shopping street Rua Augusta are located 5 minutes on foot from the flat. Most of the sights are within walking distance, the lively and popular Bairro Alto quarter with its Fado houses and nightlife, the Chiado square and the Rossio square. In the neighbourhood you will find old portuguese grocery stores, small cafes and traditional, delicious restaurants with always fresh products and competitive prices. The completely renovated apartment is situated on a 3rd floor in a recently restored 18th century old town house.

About Manuel Pedro

Hi, I grew up in Lisbon and lived there until I was 18. After that I have studied and worked in Switzerland, Germany and China and settled finally down in Geneva, Switzerland, since many years. Lisbon remains the beloved city of my childhood, and I visit it as often as I can.

Manuel Pedro purchased this apartment in 2012

Why Manuel Pedro chose Lisbon

I fell in love with this apartment, due to its very central location, close to all points of interest in Lisbon. From here, one can walk everywhere in the city center and has all means of transportation at the footsteps of the flat. The view over Rossio Square and the city convinced me to buy this flat for my short stays in Lisbon.

What makes this apartment unique

Central location near the major landmarks of Lisbon, in a typical and authentic neighbourhood: Very quiet (small lane without traffic) and a fantastic view over the ild city and the Tagus estuary.

Great place to stay in Lisbon providing you're fit

  • 5 of 5

Location is very good and so is the view over Lisbon and the main square. Well maintained property - could have done with an electric kettle! Juan who let us in was well informed and helpful.

We had lots of sunshine which makes all the difference.

Fabulous view in great location

  • 5 of 5

Just completed a stay in this apartment with a fabulous view of Lisbon, and just off Rossio Square. The property has been completely redone and is modern and clean throughout. All appliances are new and function well. Internet was very fast and reliable. Both owner and local manager were very attentive and seemed genuinely interested in making our stay wonderful. Just a couple caveats (not negatives, just important to know): First, that fabulous view comes with a price, in that to get to this apartment from Rossio Square requires a 50 meter uphill street walk, followed by 42 outdoor steps, followed by another short street walk, then 34 more indoor steps up a steep stairway (yes, we counted). Second, walls and floors are thin, and neighbor below is very noise sensitive. We got a note from her asking us not to walk on the creaky floors or talk in the evenings so that her family could sleep. We spent the evening in question on the couch reading, with the TV off, so clearly we were not making much noise. Again, this was not a deal breaker, but put a crimp on the holiday atmosphere to have to tip toe and whisper. Would I book this property again? Likely yes, as long as we can still make the climb. The views are stunning and the location can't be beat.

Owner's Response: Thank you very much for your review. I am delighted to know that you enjoyed the view, the location and the amenities of my Santana Rossio flat in Lisbon's Baixa district. Lisbon is indeed a city of hills and stairs, and as you say, to enjoy a overwelming view over the city, there might be some stairs to climb. Regarding the noise sensitivity of the neighbour below... there is no permanent resident, as the flat is also rented for short stays! Never had that kind of comment before, very sorry for the inconvenience. Look forward to welcoming you back anytime. Manuel Pedro

Wunderbarer Urlaub

  • 4 of 5

In meinen Augen gute Matratze.

Parfait !

  • 5 of 5

  • 5 of 5

Centrally located on Rossio square, where one can find a metro station, a train station, taxi station, bus to airport and to most parts of Lisbon. The old tramway stop number 28 and the modern tramway to Belem are also 3 minutes away. Many tourist landmarks in this area, the chiado and bairro alto districts are within walking distance, as well as Alfama. The best famous fado Houses can be found in the neigbourhood.Ttwo blocks away is the house where Amalia Rodrigues is born and also the house where the most famous poet of Portugal (Camoes) died. This area is an historical and one of the oldest districts of Lisbon. Very cheap, good and authentic restaurants to have simple but fresh Portuguese food, like fresh grilled fish, are just around the corner. Enjoy a mix of history, authenticity and charm in a central and quiet setting in the heart of cultural and historical charming Lisbon.
