Experience New Orleans in "Grand" style! This magnificent Queen Anne Italianate was built in 1880 for Joseph Walker, the Baron of the St. Charles Railroad (now Streetcar).

Walker Mansion contains 7 separate apartments in the house. Each apartment is PRIVATE with it's own Kitchenette/dining, bath(s)/bedroom(s). In addition, there are Common Spaces within the house for ALL the apartments to use (Master Kitchen, Master Dining, and Courtyard). This particular apartment, Unit 3, is a studio that sleeps 6 with 2 Queen Beds and a Queen Sleeper Sofa. It has a private balcony for Unit 3 only.

Walker Mansion has soaring 16 foot ceilings, original hardwood floors with inlay, gorgeous chandeliers, intricate wainscoting and crown molding. The architectural details are stunning.

Common Spaces:

> The Master Kitchen has marble counter tops and top of the line appliances. You can cook a gourmet meal or pop a frozen pizza in the oven.

> The Grand Dining Hall features a beautiful gas fireplace and magnificent chandelier. You can eat your gourmet meal at the dining table or relax with a cup of coffee in one of the comfy seating areas.

> The Courtyard located outside of the Master Kitchen is a great place to smoke a cigar and enjoy the beautiful outdoors.

History - Walker Mansion, a beautiful Queen Anne Italianate of the Victorian Era was built in 1880 by famed architect, Thomas Sully, who designed many of the mansions on St. Charles Avenue during that period. The house was built for Colonel Joseph Walker, the Baron of the St Charles Railroad (now Streetcar). He was known as a "Swashbuckling Capitalist" who made his fortune in the gambling business, which was considered a less than honorable profession at that time.

We (Candy & John) bought Walker Mansion in 2017 because we fell in love with its beauty, history, and charm. We split our time between Fort Lauderdale and New Orleans, so you may see us when you visit. (The yacht in the photo is not ours, we live across from Fort Lauderdale Marina.)

Lovely VRBO in a wonderful part of New Orleans!

Quite possibly the nicest, quaintest place we have ever stayed. We all loved our stay at Walker Mansion. Our room was spacious and lovely and safe. I cannot say enough good things about it. I highly recommend staying here. I came to New Orleans for the first time with two children and we felt completely safe in this part of town and in this house. The owners were easy to deal with and the other tenants were an equal delight. The private and shared accommodations - as well as the location - were all magnificent!

This St. Charles street mansion was extremely nice. In the mansion, we practically had everything at our fingertips. We didn’t need to go and and purchase anything. The hosts made sure everything was conveniently placed inside of the home. Overall, this was a very enjoyable stay.

Large airy rooms good shower top of the range kitchen and very clean throughout .streetcar stops 1 minute away ,good selection of local bars and restaurants loved Lula,s and the pelican bar .i would definitely stay again at this place .ps met the owners seemed like good people
